Once upon a time a long, long, time ago...there was a youthful king who was not who he said he was but that is tale for another time. This king was searching for a knight that he wanted to join him.

King Arthur or should I say Artoria, looked at the walls of Dargaard keep. Not a very welcoming place whatsoever, rather bleak and dismal. But Artoria ignored it and refocused on the lord of the keep.

"You wish for me to join this...elite group of knights?" Yes, Lord Soth was obviously a tough one to impress.

Artoria knew to chose 'his' next words carefully or 'he'll' lose a potential knight. Lord Soth has proven to be a very capable knight, dispatching envoys from lesser lords for the reason of quote, "If the lords wish to try and speak with me...they'll do it personally, I've no time for cowards" this worried Artoria, some of the envoys had notable warriors that could hold their own against multiple foes at once.

Artoria took a moment before, "Yes...you've proven to be quite a formidable knight and rather peaceful, and were part of a rather famous fallen knight order. So I ask again, will you join me and my knights of the round table? Experience the camaraderie again?"

Soth chuckled, but it was one devoid of emotions save for bitterness and sorrow. He looked down before speaking, "I'm not...convinced, impress me with your battle prowess. I won't swear loyalty to a weak king!"

He got up and drew his longsword it's blade black. Artoria in response drew Excalibur, slightly faltering as 'he' could feel this aura of malice as best as 'he' could describe it.

The battle was over after what felt like hours of fighting. Artoria was injured and rather surprised, Soth's blade left wounds that Avalon didn't heal. Artoria prepared for the final blow taking some grim solace that 'he' left wounds on Soth as well...the blow never came Artoria opened 'his' eyes and saw him kneeling.

"I swear my loyalty to Arthur Pendragon, none else, you alone impressed me with this battle. Know, shall we continue this at your castle where you can be healed?"

And thus, the start of the story of the Knight of the Black Rose began.

Author interlude: Did I get Avalon right? I'm not very knowledgeable on Fate, I just wanted to make a fic of Lord Soth, and my friend said to cross him over with Fate since it'd be cool. This is just a bit of backstory for Soth in this fic, it's gonna be set in Apocrypha(I actually am more than mildly interested in that one) with some flashbacks to his time as a knight of the round table and as a Solamnic knight. So sorry if any character is ooc, I'm new to writing and this is my first crossover fic.
