A/N: Hey so I had a fic idea. And as far as I'm aware this is original. On with the fic. I don't own Fablehaven. Enjoy.

Kendra woke up in a dingy cell. The last thing she remembered was being driven in a car and passing out. OH! Now she remembers she was kidnapped by the Sphinx and was taken away. Her kidnapper was Torina. What is happening? Kendra sat on the cot for what could've been hours when the Sphinx opened the door.

"Hello Kendra." He said warmly.

"Why didn't you let me go?" She asked.

"The world thinks you're dead. I did it for your protection."

Kendra was crying. "What if they figured out your trick?"

"Not likely. That stingbulb was almost as perfect as you. The only difference is your powers." He said emotionlessly.

Kendra was close to sobbing. "Just leave me alone."

He did as he was asked. Kendra was left alone. Her meal came. She thought about her mom's homemade spaghetti and meatballs. It made her sad. When she started eating the purple hairy paste her wall started moving. She saw a handsome young man step through the door. He winced at the sight of her. But like any sane person she screamed.

With his eyes still closed he jumped at her closing her mouth. "Please don't scream I don't want to alert the guards." She nodded against his hand.

"Who are you and how did you get in here?" Kendra asked flustered and frustrated.

"I'm Bracken. A fellow prisoner who knows his way around the prison. Can you turn your light down a little? I can't see." He blinked away tears.

"Unfortunetly no. I can't see my light or control it very well."

"Alright give me a second, I'll adjust." Bracken already looked like he could take it. "Wow you'll never be dim."

Kendra blushed incredibly deep. Dang it why was she like this. She had Gavin for crying out loud. "Thanks. Umm how did you get in here?"

"Oh ya. The prisoners have dug tunnels all throughout the prison. This tunnel is a very popular travel path. Can I ask your name?"

Kendra realized she hadn't introduced herself. "I'm Kendra. Kendra Sorenson."

Bracken smiled at her. "It's very nice to meet you Kendra. I know it's unfortunate that you're here but I'm glad to see your light."

Kendra just looked at him. He could really see her light that well. Most beings couldn't. "Umm how do you see my light? The only being's I'm aware of that can see me are fairies. Aren't you human?"

Bracken suddenly looked uncomfortable. "Not exactly. I'm a- " He suddenly cut off. "There is a new person here. We rarely get new people. Do you want to come?"

Kendra was wary for reasons she couldn't really explain. Although if he wanted to hurt her he could've done it already. "Sure why not."

Bracken jumped with joy. "Follow me." he said.

Kendra followed him into the wall. "So which way?" She asked.

"Hold on I"m using a censor I have in all the empty cells." He sat concentrating for a minute. "This way." He said pointing to the right of her.

They walked in silence until they hit a wall. Bracken opened it almost effortlessly. Inside was a very injured…

"Maddox!" Kendra exclaimed.

"You know this person?" Bracken asked. He rushed over to help.

"Ya he sold fairies to my Grandfather." She explained. "Maddox are you okay?"

"Kendra?" Maddox whispered. "No hun I'm not okay. I have several broken ribs making it hard to breathe. I have bruises and cuts all over. And I might have a concussion."

"Kendra step aside. I might be able to help." Bracken said.

Kendra backed up and watched. Bracken knelt by Maddox, placed his hands on his ribcage and a pearly glow came from it. Maddox looked like he could breathe again. He stared in disbelief at Bracken.

Kendra was in shock. "What are you?" Kendra asked.

He looked at her extremely bashful. "I'm a unicorn."

Seth was disappointed to say the least. Vanessa told them where Kendra was probably being held and when the Knights stormed the house there wasn't a sign Kendra had been there. They were back to square one of investigating Kendra's murder.

"Why wasn't she there?" Grandpa asked.

"I don't know. Maybe the Sphinx caught wind that someone was coming to get her, and fled." Vanessa told him calmly.

Seth knew she was worried about going back in the quiet box. In all honesty he wanted her to stay out. If Kendra really was still alive Vanessa was their best bet at finding her. His Grandma had other plans.

"She should go back in for wasting our time." She said.

Seth spoke up. "No. I need my sister back. If Kendra is still alive then Vanessa can help us find her."

Grandpa nodded. "I agree. We need to find her. Vanessa can help us accomplish this. But the moment she breaks our trust she goes back." He looked at his wife. "Is that alright?"

She looked disappointed, "Fine. But at all times she needs to be searching."

Vanessa nodded. "I'll do all I can."

Seth smiled a little. He would find Kendra. Even if he had to search the whole Earth to find her.
