A/N: I don't own Fablehaven. Enjoy. :)
Bracken, Kendra, and Gavin were inseparable. They talked everyday all day. Bracken showed them the rec room and they hung out there often. Bracken had even begun to train her in her abilities. Right now she could only control her aura a little. Bracken could tell that Kendra and Gavin had an unspoken thing going on so he backed off a bit. One day they were hanging out in Gavins cell when the Sphinx walked in.
"Glad to see you all getting acquainted. I'm going to need Gavin for a bit." He said.
Kendra immediately got protective. "Don't you dare touch him." She growled.
"Who's going to stop me. A broken unicorn and a useless Fairykind." The Sphinx countered. "I didn't think so."
Gavin was grabbed by the arm and was being dragged out when she glowed brighter than the sun. "Let Him Go." She said.
The guard quickly pulled him out and the door was shut.
"No!" Kendra screamed. She sank to the floor in defeat. "I couldn't stop him."
Bracken sat down next to her. He hugged her. "You did everything you knew how. This is why we train. So one day you can help us all go free."
Kendra was comforted by the knowledge. "Ya one day I will."
Navarog walked next to the Sphinx. "She's been training. Whatever you're plotting do it fast."
"That's exactly why I pulled you out. I have a mission for the two of you." The Sphinx replied.
"What is it?"
"I have the translocator key in custody. What I'll need from you and her is to retrieve it. After she charges it I will not have a need for her anymore."
Navarog smiled. "Excellent. Do you need me to do anything before we go?"
"Yes actually. I need you to convince her this is the only way you will live."
"M-m-my ac-acting skills are a-a-amazing." He stuttered through. Then he laughed wickedly.
"I know."
Seth paced around the living room. Kendra was still no where to be found. She could still be dead for all he knew. Vanessa searched but couldn't find anything. Thye were eating dinner when Vanessa burst through the kitchen.
"I found where she'll be." She all but yelled.
"Where?" Warren asked.
"Obsidian Waste."
"How do you know this?" Grandma asked.
"The Sphinx has told several people that made there way to me. His plans spread faster than teenage gossip."
"So she really is alive?" Seth didn't want to sound to hopeful.
"Unless the Sphinx has another Kendra at his disposal yes." Vanessa smiled warmly.
Seth smile was huge. "Does that mean we are going to obsidian waste now?"
"Yes we will make plans immediately." Grandpa said.
Seth for the first time in what felt like forever thought he would see his sister again.
