Jane and Maura enjoyed the lovely breakfast that Angela prepared for them. During breakfast they discovered the get well cards from TJ and Jack that Angela delivered with breakfast. Looking at TJ's drawing Jane laughed out loud. "Look Maura, I think TJ drew me as Frankenstein's monster, I guess that would make you Dr. Frankenstein."

Chuckling, Maura agreed with Jane's description of the kindergartener's drawing. "In this case I can say it gives me joy to know that 'it's alive!"

"Wow, Maura," Jane exclaimed. "Look at you with the jokes today. Do you have some paper in here? I think I would like to write back to the boys."

"Of course Jane," Maura replied. "We can do that together later today. How is your pain level this morning? Do you need any pain medication?"

Jane thought briefly while she catalogued her various injuries. "I am very stiff and sore everywhere, but the pain is tolerable. I would like to forgo the medication this morning, I hate how fuzzy it makes my head feel."

"Alright Jane," Maura responded. "Please promise to tell me if the pain becomes unmanageable. Would you like to do some gentle yoga with me this morning? I think some meditation and easy stretching may help with the stiffness."

Jane groaned lightly in response to her friend's suggestion. "Oh Maura, I don't know about yoga. I don't think sitting on the floor is the best thing for me right now."

Thinking about what Jane just said, Maura agreed the floor would not be the best place for her friend. "Jane, why don't you sit on the bed for yoga. I will place my mat close to the bed so we can practice together. If you cooperate and promise to give it a chance I will give your sore muscles a light massage after yoga."

"Fine Maura," Jane reluctantly agreed. "No promises that I am going to be able to do much though."

Jane went and sat on the bed while Maura turned on some quiet and calming music and then moved her yoga mat next to the bed. Maura then pulled her long blonde hair into a loose ponytail. Finally, she took off her sweatshirt to reveal a tight fitting sporty tank top. She took a moment to settle herself after she sat on her mat. Then Maura began to guide both of them through a light yoga routine. Maura concentrated her efforts on movements that she knew would help Jane to stretch sore muscles without over taxing her friend's battered body.

Once they had finished yoga, Jane leaned back against the headboard and closed her eyes. Maura looked at her and was surprised at how much the last year aged her friend. She noticed quite a few more fine lines on Jane's face then she remembered there being ever before. She was struck by the fact that both of them were in the final years of their thirties. She wasn't sure where the last several years had gone and wasn't sure what she wanted out of the next years of her life.

"Maura, I can feel you staring at me," Jane quipped as she opened one eye. Noticing a faraway expression on Maura's face she felt a tendril of concern wash over her. "Hey, are you okay?"

Shaking herself out of her mental wandering, Maura gave Jane a small smile. "I am fine, just lost in thought for a moment. Let me get the massage oil and a towel and I will rub your sore muscles."

Maura turned away and walked into the bathroom to gather the necessary items. Once she had what she was looking for she returned to Jane and handed her the towel. "Lay the towel on the bed and I will help you take off your shirt. Then you can lay on the towel and I will massage your back and shoulders. Hopefully, that will relieve some of the discomfort you are feeling."

Jane followed Maura's instructions and settled herself on the bed on her stomach. She felt the other woman climb onto the bed next to her and heard the bottle of massage oil open as Maura poured some on her hands and then held the liquid, warming it with the heat of her skin. Maura's touch at the base of her neck felt almost tentative at first. Quickly though, her hands seemed to gain confidence as they glided over Jane's back. Gently soothing muscles, and stopping to work out knots as they were discovered. Suddenly, Jane felt Maura's hands stutter to a stop just above her bra.

"Jane, may I open the clasp of your bra? It will help me to access all of your sore muscles," Maura cautiously inquired.

"Yeah, sure Maura," Jane mumbled into her pillow.

Maura felt surprised by Jane's lack of resistance, but took her friend at her word and reached over and unhooked Jane's bra. She let each side of the undergarment slide slowly off Jane's back and onto the mattress below. Maura then resumed her massage until she noticed Jane's breathing evening out as she slipped into slumber. Maura slowly tapered off the massage so as not to wake Jane. She then sat next to Jane and pulled the blankets up over both of them and picked up a medical journal and began reading.

Several hours later, Jane woke up feeling more comfortable than she had since she was injured. Maura's meditation, yoga and massage really worked to relieve some of her soreness. Jane suddenly realized she was topless in the bed and began feeling awkward. Clutching the blankets to her chest, Jane rolled over in the bed and looked at Maura. She realized her friend had fallen asleep next to her while reading her medical journal.

Chuckling silently to herself, Jane found her t-shirt and pulled it over her head. She decided she definitely couldn't fasten the closure on her bra herself and allowed herself to forgo the undergarment all together. Jane quietly observed her friend for several moments, enjoying Maura's peaceful expression while she slept. Jane found it a bit strange as she caught herself thinking about how beautiful Maura looked in her slumber, but then shrugged it off as an undeniable fact. The other woman was truly beautiful, inside and out. Jane reached over and plucked the journal off of Maura's chest, glancing at the title of the article that had clearly fascinated her friend. Rates of noncompliance with hypertension medications in elderly populations, Jane thought it was no wonder Maura fell asleep while reading that. Jane noticed that several wayward strands of hair had escaped their captivity in Maura's ponytail and J reached over and affectionately brushed the strands out of her friend's face. "Time to wake up Maura," Jane whispered quietly.

Maura's eyes fluttered open and she briefly startled at the proximity of the other woman. "Hey Sleeping Beauty," Jane began with a chuckle, "Didn't you lecture me this morning on the importance of a set sleep routine on overall health? How is it that a mere three hours later you are taking a midday nap?"

"Hmpf," Maura grumbled in response. "I suppose I was more tired than I thought I was. I shall strive to do better tomorrow."

The two friends were laughing lightly when Angela knocked on the door and announced she had left a tray for lunch outside of the door. After thanking Angela and retrieving the tray of food the two sat down at the small table to eat their lunch.
