Author's note: fairly short chapter today. This will continue the build up from Maura's dream in the last chapter.

The fourth day of their isolation began with Jane feeling utterly exhausted when Maura's alarm went off at 7am. Even so, she couldn't help but smile at the thoughtfulness of her friend who had changed her alarm. The sound changed from something loud with trumpets, to a soft tone reminiscent of wind chimes. Nonetheless, Jane was less ready to face today than she was yesterday. After Maura's dream had startled her awake, Jane had been unable to fall back to sleep. Long after Maura had drifted back into slumber, Jane had remained awake staring at the ceiling, her mind a jumble of confusion. Unfortunately, even after hours of consideration, Jane was still very confused. She didn't know what it meant that Maura had that type of dream about her. Did it mean that Maura wanted a sexual relationship? Could it mean that Maura wanted a romantic relationship? Was it possible that Maura wanted nothing more than friendship from Jane and that her dream meant nothing, it was just some weird quirk of her friend's subconscious mind? Then there were the questions that had been most bothering her, how did Jane feel about what had happened? Did she want something more from Maura? Why was Jane aroused by what had occurred last night?

Maura reached over and shut off her alarm. Then she rolled over so she was facing Jane, "good morning," she stated while slowly stretching her muscles.

Jane groaned internally as she couldn't help but notice that Maura's green satin pajama top rode up slightly during her stretch to reveal her tightly toned stomach with an adorable smattering of freckles. Wait, adorable? Frowning, Jane shook her head to clear her thoughts, this was going to be a long morning.

Noticing Jane's frown, Maura worried something was wrong with her friend. "Jane," she asked. "Is something wrong? Are you feeling pain this morning?"

"Nothing is wrong," Jane replied. "I am just really tired as I didn't sleep well last night. I am feeling a little more pain today than I was yesterday."

Deciding she needed a little space today Jane thought about completing her report for the FBI. It would be a chance to accomplish a necessary task and give her some breathing room to continue thinking about her reaction to Maura's dream.

"Maur, I think I am going to have a pain pill after breakfast and rest for a while. Then I have to work on my report for the FBI. Does that sound okay to you?" Jane inquired.

Maura felt a little disappointed but understood Jane's need for both pain management and to attend to a commitment to the FBI. She also concluded that some time in individual pursuits would allow her to think about her dream and what it meant. "Sure, Jane. I can use that time to work on the next chapter of my book. Maybe we can plan on watching another episode of Bridgerton before dinner."

"That sounds like a plan," Jane replied.

The two women then went about their day separately but with the same confusing jumble of thoughts on each of their minds. It seemed like every time Jane looked up from her FBI report she caught Maura's eyes studying her and then rapidly looking away. Hmmm Jane thought to herself, it appears that Maura is as bewildered by this situation as I am. I wonder how much of what happened last night she even remembers. Slamming her laptop shut Jane decided to grab the figurative bull by the horns and have a conversation with Maura.

Maura jumped, startled by the noise of Jane's slamming laptop. Then her heart dropped as she heard Jane rasp out the words she had been dreading all morning, "Maura, we have to talk."

Closing her eyes in a futile attempt to calm herself, Maura wondered if this moment would mark the beginning of the end of their friendship. What if Jane had been awake last night while she had been dreaming? The most important relationship in her life might now be hanging in the balance. Maura shook her head, internally chiding herself for unproductive 'what if' thoughts.

Realizing she really couldn't put off the conversation any longer, Maura lifted her eyes to meet Jane's and said, "Sure Jane, what would you like to talk about?"

Scoffing at her friend Jane replied, "Gee Maura, why don't you tell me. The whole time I have been working you have been acting weirdly. It's like I can hear you thinking from across the room."

"I am sorry Jane. I have just been thinking about a lot of things. It has been a hectic few days and this is the first quiet time we have really had since we got home." Maura explained to Jane, hoping that would be enough for Jane.

Jane gave Maura an incredulous look. "Maura, are you sure you haven't been over there thinking about your dream from last night? I know that is really all I have been able to think about."

"M m my dream," Maura stuttered. "You know about my dream? What exactly happened last night?"
