Chapter 2 of 3

I would like to thank all of you guys for the support! I really enjoy writing ninjago, so I might write it more.

Kai and Jay were forging 2 items similar to the time blades, but this time they were different. Instead of holding the power and shooting it out, the gauntlets Kai and Jay were making just focused the power.

"And that should be it." Kai said as he held up the metal gauntlets up to the light.

"What are we going to call them?" Jay asked. His mood has been very dark (A bit worse than kai), but lately he has been getting happier. After Kai and Jay used their new powers, they realised something. They could speak to the past elementalists, but Jay and Kai knew they were not alive. Or at least not in Ninjago. They were all with the first spinjitzu master, and they were with him for the rest of time.

"So you gonna say anything?" Jay asked eagerly.

"I don't care. As long as these weapons save ninjago I'm happy."

"Okay then. I'm calling mine Hydro Electric glove." Jay turned and looked at the statue. His eyes welled up and he started to sniffle. I miss you, He thought slowly.

"What's wrong Jay?" Kai asked in a voice of concern.

"It's just….it's just…." His voice trailed off, and Jay took a very deep breath. "I wake up every morning and I remember they're gone! The pain gets worse and I can't control it! I just wish Nya was here." Jay took out the yin-yang charm he and Nya had shared. He looked into the golden surface and a stray tear fell onto the rough surface. "I just can't find a reason to get out of my bed each morning."

Kai put his hand on his friend's shoulder. "I feel that too. We need to stay together and destroy the snakes and skeletons."

"But what about after that?" Jay asked, his depressed tone returning once more. "I just don't want to get congratulated by the people when we didn't do anything. They gave their lives, we are obviously still alive."

"I know."

Silence filled the air for a few minutes, then Kai stood up. He grabbed his gauntlet and opened the door, letting in the sounds of ninjago city.

As Kai walked outside he took a deep breath of fresh air, the slight breeze moving his spiky hair. He decided to check in on the meager military the city had, but just to make sure they were prepared for the war Kai knew was coming. Kai didn't know when, he just knew.

"General Rognam!" Kai called as he walked into the barracks. "I assume you are training your soldiers well?"

"Yes sir!" The General said instantly. "All of our five-hundred candidates are trained with the sword, bow, crossbow and spear."

"What about armour?" Kai asked as he sat down.

"A mixture of Chainmail and ballistic armour. You don't have much of either."

Kai frowned angrily and slammed his fist on the table. "My ninja Gi has seen more combat than you have, and it is only 4 years old."

"You think what you must. I have an army to train." Rognam got up and left, leaving the fire ninja alone.

Kai left the room and walked toward the staircase that led up the wall. As the ninja walked up the stairs, Kai thought over the events of recent.

It had all started after Kai had dragged Jay from the monastery ruins and alerted the ninjago military about the threat. At first Kai did not know, but he later found out from some security footage that he was hit in the head. Due to that, he had lost his recent memory and could not recall anything that happened before Kai had pulled his sword out of the dirt. Then, after the ninjago military made some plans, they constructed a wall. The wall had been made out of heavy bricks and was about 10 meters thick and 50 tall. The construction took a month, and the workers worked 15 hour shifts. The construction crew conscripted every person between the age of 20 and 40 had to work as well. After multiple failed attempts to breach the wall, the skeletons and snakes had left the city alone. The few villages that were not already destroyed had been moved inside the city. The buildings all stayed below the wall, and the city had 4 underground levels.

Kai reached the top of the wall and reached the plexiglass ledge. He leaned on it and put his head in his hands, his tears running down onto his arms. After an hour or so of crying, Kai looked up. The reality of what he was fighting for set in. The land around ninjago city was all destroyed, with craters littering the terrain.

"This land used to be beautiful, but now it is not." Jay said poetically as he walked beside Kai. "Life is a fleeting thing, isn't it?"

Kai nodded his head slowly.

"I have a question for you." Jay said slowly as he put his hand on his forehead. "So, if you have Amber, don't you have control of all of the elements your wife ever collected?"

"I do, but if I use all of them at once my body will rip itself apart. I can't afford that."

"That's almost the same with me." Jay replied. "If I overextend myself the water in my body gets charged with lightning. That will kill me if I'm not careful."

They stood there in silence, then Kai turned and walked toward the stairs. Jay was now alone on the balcony, and he had time to think about the tragic event over and over.

JAY POV-FLASHBACK BEGINS

My team and I had been training. Lloyd was the new sensei, and I remembered the grueling training and how much he missed just being with the rest of his team. Then we had just finished a parkour course set up around the monastery, and the ninja were all on the ground resting. Kai and Skylor (his wife) were grinding some of the notches out of their swords, and the others were just using the little amount of rest they had. Then something strange happened. The door just faded into dust. Then my wife and I got up and drew our blades. Our sensei, Lloyd, took charge instantly. He yelled and commanded us to start using our elements on the flood of snakes and skeletons that were running into the monastery.

We tried to hold them back, but there were too many. I remember the terrible moment when I heard my wife scream in pain. I turned and saw it. Nya was on the ground, a gaping whole in her throat.

I remember screaming in surprise but then I felt a sharp object slice across my chest.

Then I remembered nothing. It was all blank up until when I woke up in the middle of the ruins. My memory is still hazy, but I know little bits here and there.

No POV-FLASHBACK ENDS

Jay stood on the top of the wall for a few more minutes, his tears falling onto the stone floor.

"I'm so sorry Nya." He gasped through tears. "I'm so sorry Aaron." Jay took out a photo he had recovered from the ruins and burst into tears at the sight of it. The picture showed a happy Jay and a very tired Nya, and Jay was holding a Baby boy. The blanket has blue and the picture had the name Aaron written on the back.

More tears streaked down Jay's face as he started at the photo, his mind imagining what life would be like if the skeletons and snakes never attacked.

Jay instantly recoiled as his mind filled with one memory. The memory was like a freeze frame, and Jay cringed at the thought.

Unknown to Kai, in that entire fight, Nya was holding her son in her arms. Jay knew that his friends all tried their best, but only he and Kai were left.

"Jay!" Kai yelled breathlessly as he ran up the stairs. "Get to ground level now!"

As Jay shoved the picture in his pocket he replied. "What's the rush?"

"Scanners detect a large group of snakes and skeletons coming our way, and they have a trebuchet!" (A trebuchet is a catapult-like machine)

Jay cringed at the thought of a trebuchet hurling a rock at the wall. The wall would most likely collapse, and even 10 meters of bricks can't stop a few throws.

"Lets go!" Jay yelled back.

Kai and Jay reached the ground and saw a large group of soldiers lining up at the gate.

Then the first spinjitzu master spoke. "Kai. You and Jay must fight for your lives. If you do not, Ninjago will fall."

Kai grimaced but then he realised something. When he died, he would be with his friends in the realm of the Spinjitzu masters. Kai stood in place, thinking. As crowds of people rushed around him, Kai was deciding what he would do. He could either stay with ninjago and fight, or he could let go of the string that kept him alive and meet his friends. Kai then remembered his duty. He will fight, and he will fight until the bitter end.

And that is the end of part 2! I hope you all enjoyed this story so far, and the final chapter will be out as soon as I finish it.

"It's not the size of the ninja in the fight, but the size of the fight in the ninja."

-Kai (Ninjago)
