Part 3 of 3. FINAL CHAPTER
Kai was still standing in place, his mind racing. He needed to make a plan to at least make the fight winnable, but he couldn't think of a way. Kai slowly started to walk towards the house he shared with Jay. as he walked inside, he saw Jay holding one of the gauntlets he and Kai had made.
Kai grabbed his red gauntlet in silence, his mind filled with past memories of him and his family. Kai remembered the days he had spent with his sister making weapons, and eventually when Wu had brought some purpose into his life.
"I won't let you down Skylor. I promise." Kai said slowly. Kai grabbed the will he constantly modified and read it over.
All of my belongings shall be burned and buried alongside my body in the Jamanikai graveyard alongside my sister. I would like my gravestone to have nothing besides my name.
Thanks in advance, Kai, Fire Ninja Of Ninjago
Kai shoved the stone inside his pocket and grabbed his sword. His left arm had the gauntlet, and his right had the fire sword. The golden weapon gleamed in the light and Kai could swear the blade was urging Kai to get moving. Kai nodded and ran outside.
Soon Kai was with Jay and General Rognam atop the wall.
"The trebuchet is within target range." Jay said after he looked at a scanner. "I suggest you open fire."
"Yes sir!" Rognam said instantly. "Turrets, open fire!"
As soon as those words were spoken, the railgun turrets on the wall opened fire. Even though the turrets were firing large shells, the trebuchet seemed to be made out of something stronger than expected.
"Seems that the machine is made of very strong metal or something." Jay said after he looked into a pair of binoculars.
Kai grimaced as he realised that they would have to win the battle on foot.
"Lets attack on foot. We will just waste ammunition if we keep shelling from here."
"Watch out!" Jay yelled as he pushed Kai out of the way. A huge boulder smashed through the command center, killing Rogam and creating tons of dust. A few pieces of shrapnel flew past kai, and he heard a cry of pain.
"Jay?" He asked nervously. As the dust cleared Kai saw Jay sprawled on the floor, a large piece of shrapnel in his chest.
"Jay!" Kai cried in disbelief. "No, no, not again!" Kai cried.
"Don't worry about me." Jay coughed.
The fire ninjas mind was filled with all the times he had ridiculed or insulated Jay.
"I'm so sorry Jay." kai said as tears rolled down his face. "It's all my fault."
"Don't be sorry. You can't control time." Jay laughed as he seemed to have remembered something amusing. "Remember when we were about to fight that huge beetle and you volunteered me to do it?"
Kai sniffled and cleared his throat "Yes. That was when we were stranded right?"
'Yeah." Jay coughed again, sending droplets of blood around the room.
"Jay, Nya is proud of you. I know she is."
"I'll say hi to her for you." And with that, Jay's heart stopped beating and his body went limp.
"NO!" Kai yelled as he started to perform a hasty CPR. "you can't die on me! Not here, not ever!"
Soon a familiar orange glow filled the room. "Kai. you must fight. Fulfil your duty and rest assured. Jay is with the others in my realm."
"He is still gone!" Kai yelled in anger. "It's all my fault!"
"Only a fool thinks they can control everything." The First Spinjitzu master said before the orange glow faded away.
After a few minutes of grieving, Kai stood up. "I must try to save ninjago, whether I'm alone or with my friends."
Another boulder hit the nearby area, the shockwave shattering the already cracked glass. A large shard of glass flew in front of kai's face and then Kai made his choice.
"Bye Jay." Kai said sadly before he bolted out of the room. As soon as Kai leapt down a few stairs, the command center burst into flames.
Napalm Kai thought as he smelled the smoke.
When Kai arrived at the gate, he saw all of the knights standing, waiting for a commander.
"Open the gate." Kai said, his voice like ice.
The gatekeeper sensed the anger in Kai's voice and opened the gate instantly.
"Charge!" Kai yelled as he ran ahead of the other knights. "Lets get 'em!"
Both forces met with a resounding clash, the shields and swords of both sides inflicting damage. The leader of the Skeletons was, surprisingly, not a skeleton. It was a strange, 4 armed man with no legs. The place where the legs would be were just orange dust, a seemingly endless amount being poured out of his torso.
Kai held up his hand and a nearby knight blew a horn. The Ninjagan knights fell back and formed into a defensive position.
Kai realised something very, very important. The skeleton and snake army only had one long-range weapon, and the ninjago army was in that zone where they couldn't be attacked. Kai pondered his options. He could tell his men to attack and lose the majority, or he could make a different plan that would change the tide.
"Looks like you have retreated!" The orange man stated with a slight tone of amusement in his voice.
"And who am I speaking to?" Kai asked, his tone matching the one of the enemy commander.
"You have the honor of speaking to Nadakhan." One of the snakes said excitedly. "We found this one teapot and turned the rings until this guy appeared!"
Suddenly a voice came out of nowhere.
"Kai?" It was Jay. Kai sent a message back to Jay through the elemental vortex.
"Hi." He replied.
"Me and Nya had fought that guy before, but you don't know about it." Jay said, as calm as Kai had ever heard him. "Don't let him hit you with that sword, and also don't make any wishes."
"Got it."
"Good luck."
Then suddenly Kai heard a familiar voice. It was his wife, Skylor. "Stay focused. Ninjago must survive."
"Got it."
"Remember, I'll be waiting for you, no matter how long it takes."
Kai smiled and pulled on the gauntlets he had forged. One was blue and coated in blood, and the other was red and free of scratches.
"I won't fail ninjago. I promise."
Kai pulled out both of his swords and held one in each hand.
"What will you do now?" Nadakhan sneered. 'Your army is outmatched 20 to one!"
"I may be outmatched, but I know I will win."
"How? Will your army of 3 hundred men somehow manage to take down my army of 6 thousand?"
"No." Kai looked up, his ripped ninja mask drifting in the wind. "I can't kill your army." Kai smiled and ripped off his mask. "But I can kill you."
There was a gasp from both sides of the battle and Nadakhan grinned.
"Is that a challenge?"
"Yes. it is." Kai pointed his sword toward the Jin. "I challenge you to a fight to the death!"
The two armies moved so a space could be cleared for the fight. Kai stood in a makeshift tent, his ninja mask resting on a chair. Kai knew he would die today, but he would give it his all. Kai set his will down beside his mask and left his tent.
"Are you ready to fight?" Kai challenged. No response. Strange. Suddenly an orange cloud appeared a few feet in front of Kai. Nadakhan emerged from the cloud and nodded, his smile filled with evil.
"Bring it on, little ember."
Kai took a deep breath and made fire in his hands. The fire was drawn toward the gauntlet and charged it up, making it glow slightly. Then, using Jay's power, Kai charged the other gauntlet with lightning.
Suddenly, Kai felt something strange. His body had an increase in energy, but it was new. And it felt like the element of time.
Suddenly the voice of Acronix filled Kai's head.
"I have gifted you my power, use it to kill this monster. I will not let evil be represented by this brute."
"Got it." Kai thought back.
"With your power, I believe you can stop and resume time."
"But your power was put in the time blades." Kai thought as he and Nadakhan circled each other.
"It appears that after the blades were lost in time, my element had returned. I do not know the specifics, but I know that I cannot use it."
"Okay." Nadakhan leapt forward before Kai could finish his thought.
Kai rolled to the side and charged one of his gauntlets, fending off the Jin with the other. Nadakhan teleported to the side, but Kai had a plan. He had crafted the gauntlets with a self-destruct feature. If they were charged enough, they would shatter. The shards would then create an opening for the stored element to release in a large explosion.
Kai and nadakhan exchanged blows, each one getting an occasional trust into the others arm or leg.
"Enough….is…...enough." Kai said as he smiled. The gauntlets were now glowing a bright orange and you could see cracks forming. The lines between the cracks glowed brighter, and they shattered all at once.
Instantly Kai's body was filled with pain, his nerves screaming in agony. Nadakhan was doing the same, but Kai had something the Jin didn't.
He had the hands of time at his control. The eyes of the ninja glowed bright green and his wounds faded away, leaving Kai mark-free.
"Impossible…" Nadakhan's voice trailed off, his fear consuming him. The villain's mind raced with anger. "I knew Acronix would do anything to kill me. After all, he was the one who let Jay have 2 wishes in one."
"You done yet?" Kai asked, his body surrounded by sparks.
"No, please have mercy!" Nadakhan cried, his body shaking.
"As my friend has told me, you showed no mercy to him." Kai replied.
"Ok fine." Nadakhan snorted. Then he smiled. "Skeletons and Snakes! Attack the fire ninja!"
Kai realised he was too far from his own men, and he realised he was in trouble. Unless he made a plan.
A past conversation drifted in Kai's mind as he paused time to let himself think.
I have a question for you." Jay said slowly as he put his hand on his forehead. "So, if you have Amber, don't you have control of all of the elements your wife ever collected?"
"I do, but if I use all of them at once my body will rip itself apart. I can't afford that."
"That's almost the same with me." Jay replied. "If I overextend myself the water in my body gets charged with lightning. That will kill me if I'm not careful."
Kai took a deep breath. He knew what he had to do. He knew he would die.
"I'm sorry." Kai said as he looked toward Ninjago city. "Bye bye ninjago."
Kai resumed time, and the armies of both sides charged toward him. One trying to save him, the other trying to kill him.
"Get back!" Kai yelled at his troops. "Go behind the walls!"
Kai filled his body with energy, shaking. Then a huge shockwave emanated from Kai, a mixture of each element contained in the energy.
Kai fell to the ground, his body not moving. He looked down at his feet, the tips of his toes slowly disappearing.
"Bye bye Ninjago."
Then it was all black.
Then a golden glow filled Kai's vision, the change in atmosphere waking him up. He slowly opened his eyes and saw the smiling face of his friends. Jay was holding a baby boy in his arms, and the others were all crying in happiness.
"Welcome to your new home." Lloyd said happily.
"Thanks." Then, at that moment, Kai knew Ninjago was safe. Kai smiled and got up. "What's for supper?" he asked.
The others burst into laughter, and Wu even spat out some tea he was drinking.
