Ch.2: The wheel is turning

Minutes after hearing from one of her many personal agents that her company's science faction facility has once again caught on fire, Zelda made haste to the Sector B lab.

"Kree, Stephen, Natalie I know you three are still in here! Get your asses out here now!"

Immediately responding to Zelda's orders three lab coat wearing individuals tumbled over some wires, standing in front of their boss. All three were sweating profusely both from the back breaking labor and how scared they always were of Zelda. They didn't want to get chewed out physically, mentally, and spiritually again.

One of them was the shortest of the three, at least 4 foot nothing. The science and mathmatics prodigy Natalie was originally born in Czechoslovakia and due to her intellect she was deemed the leader among the group. Unfortunately the others poke fun at her since she's bald but she wears it as a badge of honor. Cancer couldn't beat her so screw the jokes. Funny thing is the only lab coat that the facility could provide her was the medium sized one so her sleeves were a little long.

Stephen graduated recently from Harvard University by the skin of his teeth and with a degree in robotics. Too be honest he got very lucky to even get this job as Zelda Corporation's research team member of Sector B labs. He is the only member of his family that got into a university. Since he's from Texas his hat that is his prized possession.

And finally there's Kree, also known as "Tall Glass" cause she drinks milk as if it was water, also she's the tallest, 6 and a half feet tall. She hails from Kyoto, Japan, being the only daughter to reach her doctorates degree by age 25 (still is 25). Though Natalie was the leader Kree was the smartest.

How was the leader determined you may ask? Well a simple game of how many numbers in pi can one write down from memorization. Putting that aside Zelda was staring daggers at the three scientists.

"Good, now is there any progress on the weakness analysis of that monster I ordered you three to look into. efore the lab caught on fire?"

Natalie glanced at Kree and then at Stephen, no responses. Sighing in defeat Natalie took a step forward.

"Ma'am...we couldn't find any weakness anywhere."

"Excuse me?"

"It's true."

Stephen spoke up next despite his bladder ready to burst at any second.

"W-We looked everywhere from its last appearance, nuttin was found that can be considered a weakpoin ma'am."

"Are you shitting me? Nowhere?"

It was like each time Zelda spoke Stephen's insides were being squeezed. Luckily for the team Kree was the only one that wasn't a pussy.

"The creature's hide is extremely thick. Just as we witnessed last week when it attempted to attack California no amount of gun fire could penetrate it, not even from an anti-tank shell."

"(Damn I wish I was you Kree. I bet bulls wouldn't faze you.)"

Zelda clicked her tongue in frustration.

"Tch, what all that firepower did was drive it back into the ocean. Now onto the important matter hm?"

The three scientists gulped knowing full well of what's going to happen next. In a split second all three were laying on the floor, writhing in agony due to their boss's boot going up each of their asses. You can really tell how painful it was when a person holds both their hands over their ass crack and puckers like their life depended on them.

"How the fuck did the lab got set on fire again?! And you better give me a good excuse or this foot is going up each of your asses!"

"(You already did.)"

Despite the ass kicking the writhing scientists got back up one at a time. Kree spoke up before anyone else could.

"Wrong formula transfusion accident."

"Sigh that's the third time, at least tell me that the development of the plasma blade is at it's planning stage?"

"Oh we just got it fully developed ma'am, tested it and everything to."

Natalie sounded proud of herself like usual though it was mostly a team effort. Of course it wasn't an easy task due to using old smithing techniques and advanced bio engineering that kept it together.

"What? Why didn't you guys call me earlier? Hmm you know what? Forget it, I would've gotten bored easily. I'll forgive you three this time since the blade is fully developed. I expect the data for later."

"Yes ma'am!"

Zelda turned away from her workers for a moment. She let out an exhausted sigh, sometimes it's not easy being this tolerant to mishaps and partial screw ups that end up setting a lab on fire.

"Was there anythang else you wanted from us boss?"

"...The white meteor you three spotted. I'm curious of what it was, my agent made it sound interesting so out with it."

Natalie cleared her throat.

"Of course ma'am."

Walking up to a nearby computer Natalie rolled up her long sleeves and started tapping away on the keyboard. It brought up two individual screens. One was a live video feed of a big sized, mysterious rock-like object clad in white, chained down from all sides by plasma for extra precautions. The second screen was an electrobe analysis graph with a red needle rapidly moving up and down while creating spiky lines.

"4 hours ago the mysterious meteorite that you are seeing in front of you was found crash landed near a beach in Seaside Heights. Luckily no-one was hurt."

"(Hmm, what a weird coincidence. The giant monster's current attack was 4 hours ago. Could that meteorite...)"

Moving with the mouse Natalie enlarged one of the screens showing more of the meteorite.

"We did some analysis on this meteorite and...it puzzled all of us. The scanning showed us that it wasn't made of basic inorganic materials."

"Then what was it made out of?"

Stephen then spoke up in Natalie's place while she was typing away.

"That's the thang, we don't know what the dern material is made out of. But what we did find was that this object was emitting powerful energy pulses that indicates that it is indeed alive. It just so happens that our base's cameras caught the sight of the object at the very same time that monster came back and attacked again."

"(Might as well play along.) Any strange comparison with this attack compared to the others?"

"Yeah boss, the giant varment's recent attack was way more violent than ever before."

"And the meteorite?"

"We were able to conclude that the object we got contained affected the monster's behavior due to it's eminated pulses."

After looking at the meteorite for a couple of seconds Zelda scoffed. Just underestimating the beast since the beginning was a mistake and she fell for it. To think that now this powerful nation would have to use the big artilleries.

The huge backlash of this would be the large amount of casualties involved with the operation Zelda has in mind for when it comes back to the surface.

"Have you been able to track it's movements?"

On cue Natalie brought up the oceanic scanner. Thanks to the 2nd encounter a marking chip was embetted onto the beast before it's escape. With that they will be able to predict when it will appear again and come up with a strategy before the resurfacing attack. Well it was supposed to be until the recent attack.

"The monster, according to it's movements is going to appear in three days."

"Good, then I leave you three to finish the production of the plasma blade. We're going to need it if we can even have a ghost of a chance. Also make sure you put out the fire."

"YES MA'AM!"

With a sigh Zelda left the three slightly quivering scientists to their business. Just as she left the building she saw that someone was waiting for her in front of the red jaguar car. The moment she saw the person's face her face lit up as she ran over to hug her.

"Ashley!"

Ashley Cornop is Zelda's best friend and daughter of the chief security administrator that works with her family. Though many has called Ashley a negative influence to Zelda due to her tom-boyish attitude and how she gets into fights 24/7 she didn't give two shits about it. All throughout childhood Ashley was always there by her side so Zelda wasn't going to give it up just because of some uptight pricks wanted to paint her like the goody two shoes they think she was.

"That's new, running up and hugging me like that? You must've really missed me that much Z."

"Are you kidding me?! Ever since you left for California 3 years ago I wasn't able to contact you."

Zelda looked like she was on the verge of crying when she pulled her face out of Ashley's board of a chest. Her sense of black leather fashion didn't change at all after 3 years but her short orange mowhawk almost caught Zelda by surprise.

"Don't stress over it babe, you're a big girl now working as the big cheese of your family's company."

Letting go of the friendly embrace Zelda cleared her throat in an attempt to gain back her professional, mature atmosphere. However she couldn't hide her blushing face.

"O-Of course. I really am glad to see you again Ashley, it felt like ages."

"Aahaaah look at you, all grown up and shit! Anyway do ya got some time? I was about to grab some grub, wanna join?"

Though Zelda wanted to go back to home and unwind for now...buuuut this chance may not come again sooo.

"I'll accept your invitation."

9:45 pm

30 minutes went by since Ashely took Zelda to a nearby restaurant in her car. Luckily there weren't that many customers so Zelda wouldn't be recognised and approached unnecessarily since she's, of course a prominent figure.

"So you were able to enter college afterall. I was worried that you were such a troublemaker that you wouldn't be able to even make it."

"Heheheh kiss my ass. I actually worked hard to make it past my 3rd semester. Scraping by I managed to survive, I deserved this break."

Taking a large bite from her burger Ashley almost choked from laughing too hard. Being this laid back was what Zelda appreciated about her best friend.

"...So have you spoken to your mom yet?"

Ashley immediately went silent the moment Zelda mentioned her mother. Let's just say simply they aren't exactly on good terms with eachother.

"Sorry, I forgot that you and your mom..."

"Hey! It's okay, I know you didn't mean it. Actually now that you mention my mom we're meeting eachother tomorrow morning. Now to turn the question back at you."

Zelda couldn't help but giggle at the reverse psychology Ashley just inflicted.

"How's your old lady?"

"Haah that's fair for you to do. My mom is getting by I suppose...the doctors are expecting her to have 4 days to live."

"Damn, are you going to be okay Z?"

Since her mother was bedridden with an incurable illness Zelda knew that one day she would have to accept that fact and leap ahead towards the future. To be a great leader she would need to become stronger not just physically but mentally in different spectrums. Then again there are those that say that Wisdom was Zelda's great strong point throughout her teenage years, even now.

"I will manage but...No! I will be oka-"

Suddenly Zelda's pocket buzzed with the muffled ringtone of a popular korean boyband. Taking the cellphone out from her pocket Zelda checked who was calling.

"(Cain?)"

The head butler of her family, mainly Zelda's mother's caretaker. Rarely she is ever called by him (he's the messanger representing the head lady). Usually when he has to be the one to call her it either means something bad has happened or something drastic is happening at the mansion.

"*Blip* Zelda speaking...You too Cain, is there something up?...WHAT HAPPENED?!"

Ashley got slightly shook from the combination of Zelda's sudden outburst and her hand slamming the table, doesn't sound good. Jeez by the way Zelda's eyes were slowly widening something bad has gone down.

"I'll be there soon, bye *Blip* Ashley!"

"Ah yeah?!"

"Do you still have the directions to my mother's mansion memorized?"

"...Errr I think I still got it on my GPS."

"Can you take me there?

Ashley drove as fast a she could without getting by the cops again to get to Zelda's destination, the Zelda family mansion, the place where she herself grew up in until she was 15. It only took a half an hour since the lab was 30 minutes away. Slowing down her car in front of the golden heavily guarded gate with the insignia of three seperate golden triangles, one on the bottom left and the other bottom right, and one on top touching tips to form an even bigger triangle. One of the intimidating looking security men marched over to the driver's side.

"Roll down your window and show me your I.D."

Easily complying with the order Ashely rolled down her window, sweat pouring down from her forehead. The law and her never got on good terms, especially the Zelda family security force trained personally by the right hand of the current Master of the home. Just when Ashley was going to take out her wallet without even breaking eye contact Zelda stopped her.

"She won't need to Talbet, she's with me."

"Lady Zelda? So you heard about what happened?"

Talbet adjusted his glasses to see Zelda's slightly ticked off face. Whatever happened to the headmaster is he realised quickly that she wasn't up for this bullshit right now.

"You sure we can trust he-"

"Just open the fucking gate!"

No need to tell him twice. With one signal Talbet got one of the other security personnel to swiftly unlock the advanced locking mechanism. After a few seconds the extremely powerful magnetic system keeping the gate glued in place deactivated, the big gate opening with grace.

Without any further delay Ashley circled around the circular gold statue of what seems to be a goddess holding a scale dangling from her right hand and an opened book in her left. Zelda heard from not only her mother but other servants when she was younger that apparently that woman is known as the Goddess of Wisdom who has protected this family for decades. Unfortunately for everyone that knew her she didn't believe that fairytale crap.

Exiting the car before Ashley could shift it in park Zelda swung her car side door open, running as fast her legs would take her. Ashley poked her head out of the window, clearly dipleased with that.

"Zelda wtf! At least let me put the damn thing in park!"

"When did you care about safety?!"

"(Damn...She makes a good point.) Fucki- Haah I'm right behind ya."

The great cracking of lightning along with the roaring booming of thunder filled the darkened main room as Zelda made her way towards the white handled stairs in front. Though it maybe hard to see the architect decorating the very room itself bears the image of the triangles and the Goddess of Wisdom. The head of the household or Zelda's mother if you prefer was always precise in what she wanted and she never tolerated any mistakes to even dare make any of the 20 room in this mansion to be sullied with imperfections despite having been bedridden recently a couple months back.

Which to say even in the darkness the statues brings out an ominous sensation as if the Goddess herself had eyes covered by the pitch black that were watching every movement at all times.

"(Okay, mom should be in he- Wha Cain?)"

In front of a elegant looking wooden door with the same Goddess etched into it a tall gray haired man wearing a black suit, dress pants, and shiny shoes was looking down at his silver pocket watch. He looked like he was seemingly waiting for Zelda's arrival for awhile now.

"Cain!"

The man known as Cain, who is the head butler to the Zelda family jumped a bit from the surprise callout, his slick gray mustache rose with his rising upper lip. He turned to his left to notice the young mistress he helped raised (only for her to leave for 3 years) be the first to greet him.

"Young master Zelda."

Zelda stopped mere feet from Cain while Ashley put her hand against the wall, panting from exhaustion.

"And you brought the troublemaker with you too? Sssss oy vey."

"I'll hear your complaints another time. What happened to mom, is she okay? Let me see her."

Cain casted his gaze away from his young master's eyes. It had the look of shame and guilt yet Zelda didn't know why that was so.

"...Young master...I can't allow you to see her."

"What?! The fuck you mean you won't let me see her? She's my mom, I have every right to see her!"

"I'm sorry, orders from the headma- your mother."

"Like hell she did, now move!"

Zelda in her ticked off state easily pushed aside Cain, catching him by surprise to how strong she was. The shove only knocked him off balance a few steps away as Zelda opened the master bedroom door.

What was presented before Zelda was a lump on a queen sized bed covered from head to toe with a lightish blue sheet. Someone was standing next to the lump at the foot of the fancy bed, eyes closed and mumbling a prayer. Instantly Zelda recognised who it was.

"Impa...Impa please tell me this isn't what it seems?"

The chief security administrator of the Zelda household Impa still stood there in silence, paying no heed to the young daughter's presence. She was clutching her police hat in an effort to push away the tears so she wouldn't show weakness in front of her "Queen." Letting out a kinda shaky exhale Impa lifted her head up, her eyes radiating with the fire of pride for her duty.

"...Oh! Zelda you scared me for a second there, I didn't notice you."

Zelda wasn't having this not answering shit right now and Impa saw that all too well. Afterall she did raise her as if she was a second mother, even after Zelda's departure from the mansion. She also happens to break shins and spinal disks on a daily basis.

"Cut the crap you knew I was there the entire time. Now what happened to my mother?!"

"I apologize Lady Impa, I wasn't able to stop her."

"It's fine Cain. You did enough...we already fulfilled the Mistress's humble death wish."

"Death...wish?"

Impa walked over and moved her eyes down since she was taller than Zelda by 2 feet.

"Your mother didn't want you to see her suffer painfully as she took her last breath...it would've been too much for you to handle."

Zelda felt the stinging emotional pain in her chest, she turned her head away while tightly closing her eyes and biting her bottom lip. Her mother suffered painfully in her last moments? That...That wasn't fair at all. How could God be so cruel to a woman who throughout her life acted selflessly for others and not give her a painless passing? This must've been some sick revenge prank he whipped up just because Zelda dropped out of catholic school when she was younger.

"Snnnffff hmmmmm...Tell me what happened Impa?"

"Hey Z, I don't think you sho-"

"Shut up! I just...I just want to know."

Without any hesitation Impa let out a muffled sigh as she opened her mouth.

"The general doctor who was here an hour ago gave me an autospy of what happened. The disease mutated into a severe infection that quickly affected the nerves throughout her body. Though she was in great pain your mother was able to endure until it reached her brain. Afterward the infection took away all of her senses at once and she died. There was no way to stop its sudden rapid progression."

"(Three days. All I wanted was three more fucking days with my mom before she died!)"

"She died with honor and dignity, even until the end."

Impa was right, Zelda's mom was one of the strongest people she knew. The woman reinforced the powerful empire of this family and did it with a cold, calculated yet compassionate fist. Oh how the connections she strung benefited more than her own family. Hell, most of the world knows the name Zelda since that was her mother's name as well...which questions why the hell did her mother gave her own daughter her first name in its entirety?

Her mom claims that it was a calling from the Goddess the moment she gave birth to her but again Zelda didn't believe that shit. Clenching her fists she felt like she was going to scream until Impa flicked her forehead.

"Oww! What the hell was that for?"

"You looked like you were about to scream and cry."

"I was about to cry asshole!"

"Yeah, not cool mom."

Impa didn't even attempt to retort Ashley's comment. She's had enough back and forth over text messages as it is and arguing in real time with her rebellious daugther will just waste time and unnecessary energy.

"Your mother wanted me to show you something as soon as she passed."

"And you knew I was going to come back here didn't you?"

"Save your nonsensical accusations for later, you noticed it to haven't you?"

Noticed what exactly? Impa always needed to be so vague on the details, expected Zelda to know exactly what she was talking about? It's always like this.

"How about dropping the clearly vague hints and get to the goddamn point."

"As you wish Master Zelda, we're wasting valuable time anyway."

Walking over to the nearby wall next to the bed Impa grabbed the painting of the Greek Goddess Aphrodite by the corner and tilted it slightly.

"Is that suppossed to do something?"

"Give it a minute my lady."

Now, ahead of time you should know that Impa at times has been known to be accident prone at times. Why do you think you should know that? That's because in a few seconds the entire bedframe flipped open like a door, revealing a secret downstair passageway. However, the flipping to the side flung the lifeless, covered body off and onto the ground with a thud.

Everyone in the room became silent, staring down with a look of shock and slight horror. Zelda and Impa slowly looked up at eachother directly in the eyes. Grabbing both of Zelda's shoulders Impa glared.

"No one in this room saw what was just displayed, especially you my lady right?!"

"Crystal, we saw nothing right Ashley?"

"See what? I saw nothing!"

"Good. The last thing we need is someone who isn't us see this dishonorable display. Cain, I'm leaving this to you."

"I shall store the body immediately."

With that being said Impa led Zelda and Ashley down the stairs just so they could get away from the awkwardness.

A couple of minutes later after going down what felt like a deep safety bunker amount of stairs a darkish blue hue started to manifest along the metallic textured walls. It slowly changed to a lighter saturation as they went deeper.

"We're almost there my lady."

"Jeez you could've easily just put on the lights down here. I was starting to get anxious."

"And risk letting the secret be revealed so easily? We couldn't risk it, not when the planet is starting to head towards darkness."

Well Impa technically wasn't wrong, that would be an extremely rookie move regarding secret passageways.

"So Impa, what did you mean by if I 'noticed it?'"

"...The anomalies that has been happening as of a couple of months. The giant unstoppable monster that has been causing massive damage and hysteria, that man you met at the party with her majesty, the queen of England, your mother's death?"

"What the f- were you spying on me?"

"My apologies but I had to. Your mother ordered me to before her passing."

"But why?"

"You still haven't answered my question."

Of course Impa would use that against her. Sigh looks like Zelda has to go along with this she guessed.

"Sigh I figured something was off as of late aside from the giant monster that appeared out of nowhere from a powerful earthquake. I just wasn't able to piece together the strange feelings I've been getting."

"And that's because of the prophecy."

Ashley's brow rose, she knew that she heard that before from her mom once before.

"Wait Z, that prophecy thingy. I remember how my mom and your mom mentioned it many times before...What was it again?"

But before Zelda could open her mouth the front of her body bumped into a wall and it's name was Impa.

"We're here."

In front of Impa a sturdy looking silver door with the insignia of three triangles with two wings sprouting from both sides. From all the cracks of the door it glew a bright lightish neon blue, a horizontally rectangular hole was next to the door.

Reaching into her pocket Impa took out a metal necklace with a red symbol of an eye hanging from it. She held it in front of the rectangular hole, after a few seconds a tiny beam of light hit the center of the eye symbol.

"The Sheikah Tribe symbol?"

"What?"

"Yeah my mom told me that she and I are a part of an ancient tribe of assassins."

"And you believed that crap?"

"Errr not exactly."

The door opened to a large room completely covered in permafrost.

"(Holy shit it's cold.) What is this place?"

For obvious reasons Zelda would be surprised by a room like this. A room that she has never seen before that feels like they were stepping inside of a freezer. No, it was more of what the inside of an iceberg would look like...it had this strange beauty due to the dazzling sparkles reflecting off of the ice. But what caught Zelda's attention the most was the big circular cut block of ice.

Though it seemed faint Zelda could've sworn she saw a silhouette inside the ice.

"This is the underground sanctuary of the Sheikah Tribe, a protection chamber endlessly coated in permafrost due to the Goddess's blessing."

"A protection chamber...for who?"

Meanwhile in some place unknown from the world multiple rectangular screens of reflected light showed images of Zelda and those who were in her circle. They included Cain, Impa, Ashley, her mother, even the Queen of England herself. From the darkness a dark bony finger swiped to the left to show a singular image of a young blonde haired man clad in green, his face was all fuzzy.

Cackling to itself the mysterious hooded being leaned forward while its single eye glew a sickening reddish pink hue.

"Heeheehee it's all coming together heeheehee."

Revealing it's other bony hand the being held a warm, pulsating heart. The being stared gleefully as it let out a loud crack coming from it's neck.

"The filthy Goddesses has made it so easy to bring this song of catastrophe together heeheeheehee. All we need now is three more pieces to be written down and after that?...A string of the delicous, symphonic destruction all put out on a silver platter for the great Demon Lord of this world! But first."

Looking down at the heart the being twinkled their fingers over it and it pulsed along with being surrounded by a shadowy aura.

"Heeheeheeheehee the great King Dodongo will finish off these humans. Just try and stop him you weak minded fools!"
