Who is that? He's so handsome. Kamaria thought to herself as she watched the tall caucasian male walk opposite of her. His eyes were like emeralds and his lips were a soft pink. He glanced at her as they crossed paths, their eyes meeting for only a spilt second. Kamaria felt her heart skip a bit and she looked at her friend who was looking at her with worry.
"Don't be a goof! You should not look at a white man! Not even for a second. It could get you killed before you can blink!" Her friend's worry grew.
"I-I know...it was an accident." Her voice trailed of in sadness. "However I could not help it..he is very handsome." She smiles softly to herself, not knowing that she was still in earshot of the young man. He seemed surprised that she got that much of a look at him when they met eyes. He looked back at her once more, stopping in his tracks. Kamaria looked back at him, still with a smile on her face. The guy stared at her for a few moments before turning back away and walking off. He closed his eyes and pictured her sweet smile again.
"Good morning Edward!" A rather plain looking girl with dark hair said cheerfully to him as he sat in his desk. He didn't look at her.
"Good morning Isabella," he opened his book to keep reading before class started. "What is it that you need?"
Her face grew a shade of red. "I was wondering if you want to prom with me? It will be one of the first of its kind in America... I know it isn't very keen for a woman to be asking—"
"No thank you." Edward interrupted. Bella opened her mouth to protest but the teacher walked in, beginning their lesson.
After class Bella watched as Edward went on to his next one. She sighed and went on to her's as well.
Over at Kamaria's school she couldn't stop thinking about Edward. She stared at her hands that were clutching onto some paper. Her deep espresso skin showed how much she contrasting with the white of the paper.
"Are you still thinking about that white man you were gawking at?" Her friend of caramel skin whispered in Kamaria's ear.
"No!" She bit her plump lip softly. "Not anymore." Kamaria giggled while her friend looked shocked.
"You're gonna get yourself into a boner if you get caught staring at him again. Don't be a floozy!" She sighed, getting up to get ready for lunch.
Kamaria looked hurt. "I am not a floozy, Helen! The only boner there is, is the fact that negros don't have the same rights as white people!"
Helen's frown deeper as she watched her friend run off out the door. Kamaria sat up under a tree and took out her sandwich to begin eating. I can not believe she thinks I am a floozy! I have not even let a boy hold my hand! She thought as she bit into her lunch, staring at the pure blue sky. The day went on without much thought of the boy walking the opposite path until it came time to walk home.
They cross paths yet again. Edward locked eyes with Kamaria for the second time. Her deep chocolate orbs made him lose his breath for a bit. Helen looked between the two, who seemed to be in a staring contest.
"Come on!" Helen shouted at her, grabbing her arm and breaking their trance. Edward silently watched as she was lead away before walking home. "I am not going to accompany you to school and back if you keep this up!" Helen scoffed at her before leaving Kamaria there to walk home alone. Tearing up, she made her way home. Her mom looked at her with a smile but it quickly faded when she saw that her daughter wasn't her cheerful self.
"What is troubling you Mari?" She wiped her daughter's eyes. Her father looked up from reading his newspapers, his eyebrows furrowed. Kamaria took a deep breathe before speaking.
"We have a test coming up at school and I am unsure if I will pass." She lied, feeling her stomach turn to knots. Her parents faces softened and their smiles appeared again.
"You will do great Kamaria!" Her mother pulled her into a hug. Her father nodded in agreement. "Now come here now, I got dinner ready."
As night turned into day, Edward dreamed of the young African American girl he passed by only twice. He woke up in a bit of a sweat, his cheeks pink from blushing. He ran his hand through his dark brown hair before getting up and getting ready for school. He walked down stairs to see that his parents were once again, gone for the day. He fixed himself some eggs, ham and toast for breakfast then headed to school after he ate. Subconsciously looking for Kamaria, he walked to school reading a book. He glanced up when he felt someone's presences walking the opposite way, to his delight it was Kamaria! He frowned slightly to see her by herself.
"You are the young girl who called me handsome yesterday." Edward spoke to her, stopping her in her tracks. His voice was soft and sweet. She looked up at him, as he stood tall, him being 6'2" and her being 4'8".
"Me?" She was trying to act like she didn't know what he was talking about.
"You are quite a bad lair." He smirked slight, causing her to feel heat raise in her body.
"W-well, we shouldn't even be talking.." her voice trailed off. He frown but nodded and kept walking. She watched him walk away then started on her way to school herself. 15 minutes passed and she felt someone following behind her, she turned around before being punched in the face. Seeing stars, she fell over before being dragged into an alley way. A large hand went over her mouth to keep her from screaming.
"Shut the fuck up you dirty nigger." A cold and angry deep voice whispered. This voice was nothing like Edward's soft one. This voice was livid and evil. Tears streamed down her face as her shirt was ripped open and her underwear was torn off. Kamaria was too scared to fight back. The man above her licked his lips before licking her face. She started to shake as he roughly plunged his fingers into her entrance.
She bit down hard on his hand that covered her mouth, causing him to cry out some. He drew his hand back and curled it into a fist before punching her again hard in the face, blood ran down her lip. He yanked his fingers out, pulled open his fly and shoved his hard member into her. He began choking her as he raped her, stealing her virginity. Her soft cries, muffled and stopped due to the pressure on her windpipe.
"This is what you get! For being a nigger!!" He pulled out fast, let go of her neck and released himself all over her face. Panting hard he jumped up quick and kicked her hard in the stomach twice before running off. She wiped her face and laid there for what seemed like hours. Crying softly to herself, she finally staggered up and walked back home instead of going to school. She laid on her bed and cried herself to sleep.
Edward rolled his eyes softly as he saw Bella walk towards him. She looked up at him as they stood alone in the hallway before class started.
"I was wondering if I could finish asking you out to—" she started.
"Isabella," she was interrupted like last time.
He looked down at her. "I do not want to take you to the prom. It is best you find another gentleman to go with." He walked around her and went straight into class. Leaving a stunned Bella standing there, a bit pissed off this time.
