I have updated my profile picture, and my eyes are still learning to adjust to the amount of color I am met with when I open up the app for this website.
I own nothing except for the story.
"So you found alien life?"
"Shhhhh!"
Peter was talking to Ned in 2nd period the next day about his recent findings. Ned was, of course, excited at the news, but, as usual, he was fairly loud. It's a good thing the class was already so loud, or they would've been heard.
"Yes," Peter whispered, "we found alien life. It's staying with me right now."
Ned's eyes widened to the point of comical. "You have it with you?"
"What - no, I mean, like, it's at home. It wanted to stay with me. I'm not going to bring an alien symbiote to school."
"Right, right," Ned said. The bell rang just then and they left the classroom. "Can I see it?" Ned said on the way to lunch. Peter thought about it. "I mean, maybe tomorrow. We're still seeing if it's safe."
"You've all already been in contact with it."
"Well, Mr. Stark was wearing gloves, Mr. Banner is good at handling foreign objects, because he's the Hulk, and I'm … me."
Ned nodded. "Yeah, that's true."
They were walking to their table in the cafeteria, where they saw MJ and Eddie already sitting. Peter was a bit distracted when he saw MJ, because there was a tiny little detail that he maybe, sorta, kinda, slightly, liked her. Just a bit. Peter suddenly felt someone's leg trip him. He heard cocky laughter above him and groaned. It was Flash.
"Oh, I am so sorry, Pe*is," Flash said sarcastically, "you need a hand?" Flash held out his hand to Peter, who reached for it, but Flash immediately let go and guffawed. "Oh, sorry, I didn't want to get my hands dirty." He left with his friends to their own table, and everyone went on with their days. Peter got up and went to his table, where MJ looked slightly concerned (his face felt a little hot at seeing her direct such an expression towards him), Ned looked angry, and Eddie looked shocked. "You should report that to a teacher!" he said indignantly.
"Flash's parents are rich," MJ said, "they've paid off the teachers to not say anything about Flash's antics. The only ones that don't care about that are Mr. Harrington and Ms. Warren, which is why Flash doesn't mess around in their classes."
Eddie looked around at them, and his mouth went wide open when they nodded. "But - but that's wrong!"
"It's the society we live in," MJ said. It was a statement that sounded sad, but MJ said it with such a dull and bored voice that it sounded as normal as breathing, which Peter supposed was the point. "The only rich guy who's fine in my eyes is Tony Stark."
"Because he's Iron Man?"
MJ glanced at Peter. "Uh, yeah."
There was a couple of moments of silence while they ate their food, when MJ said "So, uh, Peter, how's that internship?"
He was caught off guard. Not only was it unusual for her to ask about things like that, but it was the first time she hadn't called him loser or dork. "Um, uh, good. Mr. Stark's found out how to apply nanotechnology to his suits in an efficient way, so - "
"Mr. Stark?!" Eddie said with his eyes wide, and mouth open.
"Oh, yeah, Eddie, Peter has an internship at Stark Industries!" Ned said excitedly. Eddie stared at Peter in awe. "Really?" Peter nodded sheepishly. Eddie began asking questions about his internship, and the rest of lunch was spent like that.
When lunch ended, Peter stayed behind with MJ. She stayed behind a lot so she could finish a chapter of her book, or a drawing she was working on. "Hey, MJ?"
"Hey, loser. What're you still doing here?"
Peter was quiet for a bit before he squeaked out "Nothing!" He turned around and started to leave when she said "Hey, that's not an answer. If you wanted to say something, you wanted to say something. Now say it."
Peter groaned and turned around. "Uh, I was just uh, going to ask you why you didn't call me a loser before, and it then seemed like such a stupid question to ask, because it seemed like I was, uh … "
Peter saw her blank expression and then just quickly said "It was just a stupid question."
She stared at him and he was about to say that he was going to be late when she said "Okay. I guess that's a weird, but exceptional answer."
Peter stared at her for a second, but quickly turned around and walked away.

"My advice? Ask her out."
Peter rolled his eyes. "No, Mr. Stark, I - I can't just ask her out." Peter was working with Mr. Stark after school. He was helping him make the Mark 50, the first suit to incorporate the nanotechnology they've been developing. At the moment, though, he was asking Mr. Stark what he should do about MJ.
"Why not?" he said. "You're old enough to ask a girl out. And you're not getting anywhere by not asking her."
"Well, yeah, but - but - "
"No buts. Ask her out. If she says no, she says no, she says yes, hopefully it'll be the beginning of a long and fruitful relationship, like mine with Pepper."
"You're always fighting."
"We're just playing around. She said yes, didn't she?"
Peter sighed. Maybe taking relationship advice from Tony Stark wasn't the best idea. Or maybe it was. Who knew?
Peter went over and picked up his bag. "Well, I'm gonna go now. It's getting late, and I don't want May to worry."
Mr. Stark nodded. "That's probably a good idea."
Peter went into the restroom to change into his suit and knocked over a trash can in there. When he was in his suit, he tapped the emblem and put on the mask. He ran out of the restroom and leapt out of the open window. "Have a good night!" Mr. Stark said behind him.
He saw a bank robbery happening down the street and shot a web at a lamppost, pulling on it once it stuck. He ran towards the door once he landed, but decided to crawl in through someplace they wouldn't expect. He decided on the vent and crawled in. He saw the robbers and groaned. They had some weapons from Toomes. They may have caught him, but the weapons he had already sold were still out there. He jumped out of the vent and threw the cover at one. They were knocked out, and he quickly attacked the others. He didn't want any people getting hurt.
There was one left, and he went to shoot a web, but they quickly grabbed someone. They looked like a normal person. Someone that woke up this morning to expect a normal day. Not to have an alien gun pointed at their head. "Make one more move and I pull the trigger!" said the robber.
Spidey backed down, and they said "Turn around." He did so, and heard people gasp. He knew the man was pointing the gun at him. Suddenly, he heard the sound of repulsors firing. He turned around and saw the man unconscious, with Mr. Stark standing over him. "You alright, kid?"
Spider-Man nodded, and Mr. Stark said "Alright, you can go home. I can deal with this." He nodded again, and swung off. He got close to the ground and suddenly heard a loud screech as people were honking their cars.
"What in the - ?!" Spider-Man said. He swung up to a rooftop and opened up his bag. He didn't see anything. He emptied it and his books, notes, folders, and binder came falling out. With them fell the symbiote.
"What? You were in my bag the whole day?" Spidey said in disbelief. The symbiote crawled inside his bag. "You alright in there?"
The symbiote gave a little cooing noise, that was weird and cute at the same time. He smiled under the mask and put everything back in his bag. He jumped off the building and swung off into the night.

The kind boy faces troublesome issues everyday. He has done so much for us … how can we help him?
This story is quite fun to write. Probably because Spider-Man is a bit more relatable than Percy Jackson and Harry Potter for me.
