Writer's Note:

Not long ago, we heard tell that Roger Craig Smith would be voicing Sonic. Now we heard that Cindy Robinson would no longer be voicing Amy Rose. Since I did a little story about Sonic's reaction to his voice actor leaving, I thought I'd do a story about Amy learning the news, her reaction and talking with Sonic about it. Might include SonAmy!

SEGA owns the characters as well as the series.

Amy sat upon a rock in the countryside, looking at her I-Phone as she scanned the internet for any news updates on what SEGA had planned for the Sonic series' upcoming thirtieth anniversary. She was curious and concerned at the same time.

Days ago, Amy had caught wind that Roger Craig Smith would no longer be voicing Sonic after ten long years of voicing the character. The pink hedgehog was wondering what the future would be like without Roger voicing Sonic anymore.

Times were changing, a few years earlier, SEGA's over two and half decade long partnership with Archie Comics came to an end and a new era began with the IDW comics. Then in 2019, Knuckles, Silver and Blaze got new voice actors as their voice cast changed.

Now, after hearing what had become of Roger, Amy was wondering what was going to happen with her voice actor Cindy Robinson. In fact, even though she and Eggman were enemies, she was legit worried about Mike Pollock. Hopefully, he'd be fine.

Just then, as Amy was going through Twitter, she saw that Cindy Robinson was trending and took a look at what was going on. Why was she trending? When Amy saw the headline 'CINDY ROBINSON NO LONGER PART OF SONIC', she gasped.

What on Earth (or Mobius or Sonic's world, whatever) was going on?

Amy read Cindy's tweet and the various other news feeds that were talking about it, including the announcement regarding the Sonic 2022 Netflix series called SONIC PRIME. A small tear fell across the pink hedgehog's cheek, this truly felt like the end of an era here.

Reading everything a bit longer, the red dress-clad female hedgehog turned off the phone and put it down, lowering her head. She was caught up in her emotions that she almost never heard the sound of vrooming and someone skidding to a stop until...

"Yo, Ames! Thought I'd find ya out here." Hearing the snarky voice of her boyfriend warmed Amy's heart, but the tears somewhat kept coming. "Amy?" Sonic said again, "You ok?" Amy was silent, she was still processing the news.

"Hullo, Amy." Sonic came forward and tapped her on the shoulder.

"I-I'm fine, Sonic." Amy managed to say, "It's just... Y-y'know about Roger leaving, right?"

"Of course I do, Ames. What brought that up?"

"It's... It's my voice actor Cindy, she's… she's gone."

"Cindy Robinson? Her too?"

"She's loading out with the other voice actors."

"As if Roger leaving wasn't enough, we now lose Cindy. What's next?"

"Appropriately," Amy sniffed, "The question is 'What's going to happen to my voice'?"

"C'mon, Ames. You're fine."

Now Amy was looking at Sonic, her eyes completely full of tears as she started crying. "Don't say that," She wailed, "I know Cindy made me sound like Minnie Mouse for a while, but she was perfect for me. My voice is part of my identity, it's part of who I am.

"Back in the Dreamcast days, my very first voice actor, it fit me well since I was basically just a pre-teen girl then. I don't remember her name clearly, but she was great. Then we had Liz around the same time as you had Jason, sure my voice was weird, but it fit me well.

"I don't care if I sounded high-pitched and annoying, Liz voiced me well just as Cindy was voicing me fine. After so much trial and error, they got my voice right. Now, Cindy's gone and I don't know what it will mean for my voice."

Amy buried her face in her hands as she sobbed more and more, Sonic put his arm around her and hugged the pink hedgehog who'd been the Minnie to his Mickey since 1993. Sonic handled Roger's departure calmly, but the way Amy was taking Cindy's, yeesh...

"Ames..." The speedster said in a soothing voice, "SEGA will find a new voice actress for you, maybe she will be just as good as Cindy. Until something comes up, take it easy just one day at a time. You're not gonna lose your voice, you'll be fine. Things will be ok."

"I-I hope so." Amy said, her voice croaking due to her intense crying. She kept crying into Sonic's shoulders until he said, "Amy, look at me, your boyfriend. I'm here for you." The pink hedgehog looked up into Sonic's face, her face lined with tear-streaks.

Sonic helped wipe away the tears and hugged Amy, comforting her. The two hedgehogs looked into each of their own green eyes, smiled as they decided not to worry about who would be voicing them, and then they leaned in and kissed.

Amy wrapped her arms around the blue hedgehog and he did the same as he held the hammer-wielding hedgehog close, soothing her and making sure she was no longer stricken by grief. The departure of their voice actors wasn't the end, it never would be.

Breaking the kiss, Sonic stroked Amy's face and cupped her cheeks. "Why don't we go get some chili dogs and not worry about it?" He suggested. Amy nodded and, together, the hedgehog duo went off to get some chili dogs to eat.

Meanwhile, Eggman sat in his lair as he observed Sonic and Amy while he looked at the latest SEGA Sonic news on his super computer. He looked at Mike Pollock's Twitter feed, when he didn't see anything about him leaving, a villainous smile formed on his face.

For almost twenty years, the doctor had worked well with Mr. Pollock, ever since the era of Sonic X and 4Kids. A decade earlier, Mike had stayed while Sonic got a new voice actor. If Mike stayed longer, there was a chance Eggman's victory would be ensured.

'Our thirtieth anniversary should be interesting, rodent." The doctor thought.
