I: Oh my goodness. You were probably just making an Avatar reference, instead of actually noticing that I had intentionally put that reference in since it's so subtle, but I'm just going to pretend that you actually noticed.
I am writing this at the end of January. 2021 is turning out to be as good as 2020. AKA, it sucks.
Song of the Chapter: Game Pizza Theme from Spider-Man 2
I own nothing but the story.
Peter woke up the next morning. He expected to be sore after that move with the Spider-Slayer that night, but he felt great. He got out of bed to change out of his suit, but the suit quickly changed into normal clothes. He looked at the black jacket, t-shirt, jeans, and socks and shoes he was suddenly wearing and said "That's awesome."
He walked out of his room and found May filling up plates with her signature wheat cakes. "Good morning!" she said happily when she saw him. "How did you sleep?"
Peter thought about his words. He didn't want to tell her about the symbiote just yet. "I had a very realistic dream that was incredible."
"Oh, what was it about?"
He shrugged. "I was just … Spider-Manning."
She nodded. "You really do like being Spider-Man, don't you?"
He nodded, taking a plate and sitting down. "Yeah, I get to help people, and have fun. Swinging around the city is especially fun."
He quickly ate his wheat cake and picked up his bag. "Alright, I'm going to go. Don't want to be late."
"You have, like, an hour before school starts."
He looked at her and she said "Oh, right, Spider-Man."
He nodded and left the apartment. He ran into an alley and the symbiote changed his clothes to his new Spider-Man suit. "Hey, where's Karen?"
Sssuit lady interfered with the processss, so she isss not here.
"What?! Can't you bring her back?"
No. I apologize.
Spider-Man sighed. He would miss Karen. But he supposed he had to move on. At least he had the symbiote. He jumped up onto the roof and started his usual routine. People gasped and pointed at him as he swung around, noticing the new suit.
"Who do you think you are?!" said a familiar voice. Spider-Man stopped in his tracks. He recognized that voice. He turned to face the speaker and saw an angry Flash Thompson. Flash walked up to him and said "You're not Spider-Man. Firstly, Spider-Man wears an awesome red and blue suit. Not the black and white unitard you're wearing. Secondly, he shoots his webs from his wrist, not from some weird black square. And thirdly, he is not as buff as you are."
Spider-Man just then realized that Flash was right. He did look stronger. The symbiote suit was awesome. "Well," he said, "I decided that it was time for a change." He shot a web and waved goodbye as he swung away. "New suit, same old me!" he shouted as he made his way to school, stopping a few crimes along the way.
He dropped into his usual alley and the symbiote turned back into normal clothes. He ran into the school and got to class earlier than expected.
"Hey," MJ said when she saw him.
"Hey," Peter said when he saw her. They stared at each other for a bit before Peter realized he should sit down. He sat next to MJ, and Eddie and Ned were looking at the two wondering what just happened.
"So, uh, did you guys see that new suit Spider-Man was wearing today?" MJ and Ned glanced at Peter. "No, what new suit?" MJ asked.
"Oh, it's awesome," Eddie said excitedly, opening up his bag and pulling out a camera. "I got some pictures of him." He showed them the pictures of Spider-Man in his new suit.
"That is awesome!" Ned said.
"I wonder where it came from," MJ said, glancing at Peter again. Peter gave a small shrug.
"That's what everyone's wondering," Eddie said, looking through his photos, "especially the Daily Bugle. I'm planning on selling these pictures to them."
"What?" Peter said, his voice changing a little. Eddie flinched a bit and said "Well, I - "
"Why would you sell them to the Bugle? What they print about Spider-Man is slander."
"It's actually not," Eddie said. "Slander is spoken. In print, it's libel."
"They're still discrediting him!"
"Well, I'm selling my pictures where I can make the most money, and the Bugle seems like the best place."
Peter glared at Eddie, who looked a bit afraid, and Peter suddenly felt guilty. "Sorry," he said, "I'm just … not the biggest fan of the Bugle."
They didn't speak for the rest of class, and the rest of the day went by as usual. When the day was over, Peter left the school to change into his suit, but was stopped by MJ.
"Oh, hey!" he said, surprised. "What, uh, what're you doing?"
"Well, uh, I wanted to see you, and I wanted to ask you what the thing with the new suit is about."
Peter nodded. "Um, well, remember that symbiote thing?" She nodded. "Well, it sort of took over my suit while I was sleeping."
She stared at him. "So, you're, what, its host now?"
"No! Of course not," he said quickly, "it just took over the suit, not me, so I'm not it's host."
"You're saying the suit is?"
"Maybe it is, we don't know how it works, it's an alien."
MJ stared at him. "Yeah, um, okay. Well, I've gotta be getting home, but I'll see you tomorrow."
Peter nodded. "Yeah, yeah, see you too."
She started walking home, and he ran to his alley. The symbiote transformed into his new suit, and climbed up the wall. He jumped up and prepared to shoot a web, but the suit started screeching, and he fell in midair when his phone rang. The suit displayed who was calling him, and he saw it was Mr. Stark.
"Yeah?" he said, answering.
"First of all, where were you yesterday? You didn't come to the tower after school, which was a bit weird. Secondly, you should come to the tower right now."
"Firstly, I was just busy, and secondly, okay."
Spider-Man shot a web and made his way over to Stark Tower. He held his hands out to cling to the wall, but he underestimated the force he would hit the window with, and accidentally broke the window. Glass flew everywhere, and he looked around to see if anyone was there. He sighed in relief, as he realized he was in the Avengers hangout room, and nobody was there. Suddenly, he heard footsteps, and turned around to see a shield being thrown at him. He bent over backwards to dodge it, and shot a web to catch it. "What the heck was that?" he exclaimed as he looked at the person who threw it. He realized that it was Captain America, and he had the rest of the Avengers with him.
"Who are you?" Black Widow asked him.
"Um, I'm Spider-Man."
Wanda held out her hand and her red energy stuff suddenly surrounded Spider-Man's head. She was trying to pull his mask off, but the symbiote kept extending itself, so it wasn't taken off.
"What the - " Spidey said, "oh, hold on." The symbiote exposed his head as the mask part disappeared.
"Oh." Falcon said.
"You just attacked Peter," Bucky said. Steve suddenly looked guilty. "Oh, um, sorry, Peter."
"It's fine, it's just - new suit."
Mr. Stark walked into the room. "What happened? You're already here?"
"Um, remember that alien symbiote?"
A look of realization dawned on Mr. Stark's face as he saw the new suit. "What did it do to your suit?!"
"Okay, what happened?" Wanda asked.
"So," Peter started, "um, I found these guys experimenting on some alien ooze, and I stopped them and took it to Mr. Stark, and he and Mr. Banner told me it was a symbiote, and it liked me, so it stayed with me, and, last night, it took over my suit. It's really nice, so there's no need to worry, I've got everything under control. Also, the suit, it like, enhanced every aspect of me, so all of my powers got a boost. That's why I accidentally broke the window when I landed on it while trying to get in."
Everyone stared at him. "That's new," Clint said.
"Alright, I can fix the window," Mr. Stark said, "but can I study that suit?"
"Um, sure," Peter said. They walked into the lab that was in the next room, and Mr. Stark pulled out a tool to get a piece of the symbiote. He moved it towards the suit, but it immediately disappeared in the area Mr. Stark was trying to cut off. He moved to a different area, and the same thing happened. Over and over he tried, but the suit didn't seem to want him to get a sample. "I don't think this is working, Mr. Stark," Peter said.
Mr. Stark sighed. "Yeah, you're probably right. But you'll tell me if anything weird happens, right? That thing's not recording everything you do anymore, so I have no way of knowing."
Peter nodded. "Of course."
They left the lab and saw the Avengers hanging out and laughing. "Peter!" Clint said, "you've been in there for half an hour, what's going on?"
"That suit of his is very stubborn," Mr. Stark said, "I couldn't get a piece of it at all.".
"What've you been up to, Peter?" Steve asked him. Peter shrugged. "I've just been hanging out, being a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, you know?" He went to sit down on the couch and his suit transformed into regular clothes. Everyone stared. "That was awesome," Sam said.
"I want to study it so much more now, but I know it won't let me," Mr. Stark said longingly. "Hey, Peter, did you ever ask that girl out?"
"Ooooooo," said a number of people. Peter felt his face grow hot and buried his head in his hands. "Yes, I asked her out," he said, his voice muffled. "Did she say yes?" Bucky asked him. He looked back up and smiled. "Yes."
Everyone cheered for a bit before he said "And then she found out I was Spider-Man."
Everyone stared at him. "Дшееду Ызшвук (Little Spider [cliche? Yes. Do I like the idea? Also yes])," Natasha started, "did you seriously reveal your identity to a girl just because you like her?"
"What - no!" Peter said, telling them what happened. When he was done, Clint said "You know, when she puts it like that, then it should be super obvious that you're Spider-Man."
"She's a smart girl," Natasha said, impressed.
"Anything else happen?" Steve asked him.
"I got attacked by a robot called the Spider-Slayer that was controlled by one of the people who were experimenting on the symbiote, and wanted to get it back."
"What?" Mr. Stark said. "Sorry, but you never mentioned that to me."
"Well, it only just happened last night."
"You're going to mention anything like that that happens immediately."
Peter sighed. "Yeah, alright."
"You've certainly been busy," Wanda said.
"Where've you guys been?" Peter asked.
"We've been tracking down some strange activity near Texas," Steve said. "Some people said that they saw strange holes, and a man that wore red and black."
"Sounds weird," Peter said. "Did you find the man?"
Wanda shook her head. "No. The sightings slowed down. But the last one we heard of said he actually spoke. They said he said something about the ending of the worlds."
"He was probably just crazy," Peter said.
"Maybe," Wanda said.
"Well, we should probably head to the compound," Steve said. "We just wanted to say hi."
"I should probably get going, too," Peter said. His clothes transformed into his new suit, and Clint said "I can already see that no matter how many times I see that, it's going to always look awesome."
Peter nodded. "That's because it is awesome." He ran towards the broken window and jumped out, only shooting a web when he was about to hit the ground. He let go and rejoiced as he was in the air.
Wheeeeeee the other Avengers! Whoooooooo!
