SHORT CHAPTER ALERT: I just liked ending the chapter where it does.

I just realized that it might feel like I don't care about Ned since I haven't been using him much in the story, but it's actually because anytime I write dialogue for him, it feels too serious or that I'm trying too hard to be funny. So, just to be clear, Ned is a treasure and one of the best things Sony or the MCU ever gave us.

Song of the Chapter: I'm Goblin by Hans Zimmer. No, there's no Green Goblin in this.

I own nothing but the story.

Spider-Man was swinging back to the compound, looking over his shoulder every couple of minutes for Venom. His Spider Sense didn't go off when running into Eddie, so he could only assume that his Spider Sense didn't work when it came to the symbiote.

Luckily, Venom didn't show up. That didn't help, though. That could probably just have meant that Venom was serious about making Spider-Man and Peter Parker suffer, and was taking their time.

He arrived at the compound and saw everyone hanging out in the living room.

"Peter?" Steve said, noticing how panicked and scared he looked. "What's wrong?"

Peter went over to them and said "So, you remember how I said I destroyed the symbiote?" They nodded. "Well, I didn't. It came back while I was heading to school. It's taken over one of my friends. They're calling themselves Venom."

"Why didn't they kill you?" Natasha asked him. "That doesn't make sense if they hate you."

"They said that they would kill me later, after they made me suffer."

"Well, we can't have that, can we?" Mr. Stark said. "Call your friends and Aunt May over. Anyone close to you that it might hurt." Peter nodded and sent the messages to May, Ned, and MJ. "I told them."

Mr. Stark nodded. "Bruce, come over here. We're going to try and track it down, you still have that data on it?" Mr. Banner nodded. "Good, because we're going to look for that signature."

"What do I do?" Peter asked.

"Uh … you can guard May and your friends."

Peter stared at him. "You're kidding, right?" Mr. Stark shook his head. "This is an alien monster that wants to kill you."

"It's my problem. You guys shouldn't have to fight it." Peter checked his phone and found notifications from Ned and May. They both said they were on their way. "That's weird," Peter said, "MJ hasn't answered yet."

"What?" Clint said. "That's not good."

Peter's phone rang, and he sighed in relief. "It's alright, she's calling." He answered and said "MJ? Are you okay?"

"Hey, Parker," said a voice he wasn't expecting.

"Eddie," Peter said, trying to keep his voice from sounding panicked. "Where is she?"

"Turn on the news," Eddie's voice said. Peter shot a web and grabbed the remote. The news was on, and it was covering a story about a "slime monster." On the screen was a blurry image of Venom on top of a building, holding MJ. Peter realized that they were on the building the Kingpin had operated in. Peter increased his grip on the phone, breaking it. He went to the restroom with his bag, but Mr. Stark grabbed his arm. "Kid, what did I tell you? This is different from anything else you've faced, this is an alien that will not hesitate to kill you."

"He's got MJ," he said, struggling to keep his voice steady, "you aren't going to stop me." He shook his arm off and changed in the restroom. When he was in his suit, he ran out and into the woods next to the compound, swinging from the branches of the trees. He normally didn't go that way, but this time, he needed to get to Venom and MJ as fast as possible. Luckily, no branches broke.

He swung to the building, landing right in front of MJ. "It's alright," he said, happy to see her. "I'm going to get you out of here."

"Behind you!" she said quickly. He turned around and saw Venom leaping at him, grabbing him, snarling as they both flew off the building.

Haha cliffhanger go brrrrrr.
