Since when did Hyuuga's become so outspoken?

He hadn't a clue when he had fallen for her, but he had fallen hard and fast. Faster than he could ever have imagined finding love. He always assumed it would take him a while to drop his shields and let someone in, someone that he could hold and cherish until the day he walked them down the aisle. Yet, here she stood. Right next to him. Her sudden flourish into his life had knocked him clean off his feet and he found himself thinking of her, and only her, day and night.

It was exhausting and exhilarating all at once.

And now look at him, his hands outstretched as he held Sai at a distance.

"Don't even think about it," He'd muttered, his Byuukagen activating.

Sakura had flapped her hands in embarrassment, " N-Neji-san! It's ok, really!"

The one thing he hadn't actually ever done was admit to Sakura how he had felt. Except for now, possibly. And In front of all their teammates no less.

"I just wanted to know what a kiss felt like." Sai deadpanned, his head tilted to the side as he glanced around the Hyuuga to Sakura, "I read about it in a book."

She laughed nervously, scratching the back of her head, "Kisses on the lips are for lovers, Sai. Not friends."

Black found lilac and he smiled, "Ah. Like what Neji-san wants to do to you?"

A fierce blush forced its way across his cheeks as he stuttered, "Nani?!"

He shoved Sai away, casting his head aside to try and hide the pink that now stained his cheeks, only to catch eyes with large green orbs. Her face had turned a dark shade of red as she stared up at him with a shocked expression, the realisation slowly hitting her as she took in his embarrassment.

"Hey, Sai! Cut it out!" Kiba barked, knocking him over the head, "You're embarrassing the Hyuuga!"

"I'm not embarrassed!"

Sakura watched on with wide orbs Neji berated the boys now laughing and poking fun at him. He likes me? Surely not. Admittedly they had gotten closer over the past few months after spending so much time together on missions. She had caught herself wondering what his lips would feel like on hers not long after they'd gotten back off their first mission together and had quickly shaken the thought from her head with a fierce resolve.

Why on earth would a Hyuuga as handsome as him like a girl as plain as her?

An elbow hit her ribs and she turned to see TenTen wagging her eyebrows at her, "Ne, Sakura-chan? You're blushing too you know."

She huffed, "Only because Sai's embarrassing me!"

She gave her a wry smile, "Sure, sure." She turned to the group, "Come on guys, lets go get some ramen!"

"Gomen, Haruno-san."

She turned to face him, her head tilting up to meet his full height.

"I didn't mean to embarrass you" He said quietly, the remains of a blush still evident on his cheeks.

She smiled softly, watching out the corner of her eye as their friends wandered off in search of food.

"It's ok."

An uncomfortable silence soon followed, and she found herself staring at him intently, watching him shift his weight from foot to foot as he tried to find anything else to stare at other than her. She took a step forwards and placed her hand on his upper arm, letting the fabric of his sleeve slip through her fingers gently.

"Neji-san?"

He raised a brow.

"Do you know what a kiss feels like?"

His gaze suddenly sharpened as she came into full focus. He had. Of course he had. They weren't children anymore, but he had the distinct impression that she perhaps hadn't. Waiting for a traitor to have your happily ever after clearly wasn't serving her well and she wore that emotion all over her face.

He smiled, a small stretch at the corners of his mouth that made her heart thump out of her chest. Night had long since fallen over the leaf village and they had all been enjoying a quiet drink in the local bar before heading out to get dinner. The villagers had long since packed up their stalls and left for the day and the street's were now bustling with late night revellers in search of a good time.

They stood in the shadow of a shop canopy, away from the street lights and prying eyes. He brought a bandaged hand up to cup the back of head as he leant down and brushed his lips against hers.

She froze, but before she even had a chance to respond he pulled away, his hand still gripping the back of her head.

"Now I have." He smiled.

He turned to walk away, following the direction their friends had gone in. She reached out and grabbed his hand, pulling him to turn back around. Her cheeks were flushed pink but her brows were pulled down into a hard frown. He wondered if she was going to punch him?

"That wasn't a proper kiss."

With a fierce resolve she reached up and gripped the sides of his face, pulled him down as she rose onto her toes and pressed her lips firmly against his. He recovered from his shock when she proceeded to wrap her arms around his neck and press the length of her body against his, coaxing him into kissing her back with a gentle massage of her mouth. He felt something snap in him at the gesture and he gripped her waist tightly, pushing her further back in the shadows of the store front and into the rough brick of the entrance.

She mewled softly beneath his lips, his hands tangled amongst the pink tresses of her head as he kissed her passionately. Gods, she felt amazing. Better than he could ever have imagined her to feel pressed up against him. He had dreamt of this moment many times and nothing could have prepared him for him explosive it would feel. Goosebumps rippled across his skin and he felt a deep coil of pleasure begin to build.

He pulled back gently, one final press of his lips against her soft ones before he leant his forehead against hers. The cool metal of this Konoha band had a calming affect on her nerves.

"Better?" He muttered, his hands still cupping her head.

His heart burst from his chest as a brilliant smile stretched her cheeks and she nodded, giggling and blushing beneath the intensity of his affections. He smiled in return, a genuine stretch of his lips that made her heart flutter in anticipation.

Whatever had just happened had started something that she knew would snowball out of their control, but there was a part of her that didn't care and relished in the challenge of making something as complex as his clan and her notoriety work seamlessly.

Even if it meant giving up on a traitor.
