The of age students that chose to fight in the upcoming Battle barely had time to make it back to Hogwarts from Kings' Crossing before Voldemort had appeared. Minerva had insisted they ride the Hogwarts Express in order to protect the younger students in case of an attack on the train. Several professors had been upon the train as well. Amelia had provided portkeys to Hogsmeade to each student and then from there Harry and Hermione had led the students through secret tunnels back to the safety of Hogwarts and her wards.

Voldemort had attacked the gates mercilessly in his attempt to get through the wards. Minerva and several other professors had made a show of blocking their attempts; however, they were luring them into the trap that lay in wait. Minerva called a retreat and ensured all of her staff made it safely back to the Castle as Voldemort and his Death Eaters advanced.

"Are you already running Minerva," Voldemort mocked with a cruel laugh at her retreating form. "How pathetic are you! The battle hasn't even begun!"

Minerva stopped and turned towards Voldemort. She stood defiantly, her Scottish heritage demanded it of her. "I would never run from the likes of you," she spat viciously. "I am merely setting the trap!"

Voldemort looked at her confused and was startled as a golden dome encased Hogwarts and its surrounding lands. "What magic is this?" he questioned, never had he read about protective magic surrounding Hogwarts.

"Your downfall," she said as she grasped her wand and fired a series of deadly spells at him and his followers. "You may not be aware but I am Hogwarts' champion. I will not allow you to harm this place!"

"Then you shall die," Voldemort retorted angrily.

The Order and the Aurors that were hiddened stepped out into the open and the battle commenced. Minerva noticed Harry calmly walked towards Voldemort with a determined glint in his eyes and his wand at the ready!

Minerva watched in fascination as a small dragon zoomed overhead of the battle. She laughed as she saw a determined Neville Longbottom riding ontop of the dragon dropping small bombs onto of the unsuspecting Death Eaters below. It was a very effective way to take out the enemy!

Minerva watched the Weasley twins and some of the older students fly on top of the line racing brooms. Each broom had a rider that was dropping various potions onto the crowd below. She realized the potions were only targeting Voldemort's supporters. That's why the twins insisted we wear the Lightning bolt pins she thought. The pins have protective charms on them! A sharp sting and a cutting hex to hip drew her attention back to the task at hand. She realized she was surrounded by the enemy. Her distraction would be the end of her and her child. She inwardly sobbed as she realized she had let Harry down. She tightened her hold on her wand and assessed the situation again. Minerva simply didn't have the magical reserves to flash away. She had sent Harry as much as she could while he fought against Voldemort. Amethyst was instructed to help with the injured. Minerva had closed their mental link to ensure the bird would stay with Poppy and Helen. How could I have been so stupid she thought miserably.

A strangled cry distracted the group as the Wesley twins swooped down towards her. "Hands up McG," they yelled as they flew low and directly towards her. Minerva quickly stoled her wand in her holster and held her hands up. A Death Eater shot a spell at her as soon as they realized she had a route to escape. The Weasley twins pushed their brooms faster but realized they wouldn't make it to her in time.

Suddenly a dragon dropped from the sky in front of her and swallowed the spells easily. As the twins grasped a hand a piece and lifted her to safety, she watched as the dragon roared angrily and fire encompassed the Death Eaters below as she dangled helplessly. "Remind me not to piss off Mione," Fred said to his brother.

"She's brilliantly scary," George said then added. "I still plan on marrying her one day."

Minerva snorted at the two. "How do you plan on wooing her," she heard herself ask.

"By being my awesome self," George said with a wink as Minerva was gently lowered to the ground.

"Try to avoid spell fire," Fred said to Minerva. "Harry's likely to kill us if something happened to you and the baby."

Before she could retort, they were off and engaging in the battle once more. "Those boys," she muttered affectionately as she turned once more and focused on the task at hand. She drew her wand and jumped back into the fight once more.

Minerva stood in the Great Hall searching the crowd frantically. Chaos and disarray were evident as the Final Battle had just been fought. Harry had been victorious but she had yet to see him since he had destroyed Voldemort. Her energy and magic was drained so she was unable to mentally find him and flame to him.

Hermione rushed into the Hall and seemed relieved to see her. "Come with me," she demanded as she grapsed Minerva's hand and rushed through the castle.

"Harry," Minerva asked as she tried to keep pace with the younger witch. Her pregnant belly and tiredness hindered her progress more than she cared to admit.

"Mum is with him," she said shakily. "He will be fine once he calms down but he isn't calming down. Mum thinks its because you are both so magically exhausted and your bond is fragile and unavailable to him. We hope he will calm down once you are with him."

Minerva nodded briskly and continued pushing herself. "Where is he?"

"We figured he would want privacy," Hermione panted out. "We have him in your quarters. Poppy said she would be by once she had sorted the injured."

"That was a wise decision," the Headmistress agreed breathless. "He will need privacy to deal with all of this."

Minerva reach her chambers and rushed into the bedroom. Harry was on the bed fighting with Helen to get up. Even from the door, she saw his ashen color and his fatigue. "Harry," she cried as she rushed towards him.

His movements stilled as his head shot up and he found her worried face. "Minerva," he breathed as he pulled her into his embrace regardless of their audience. "I couldn't find you," he said brokenly.

"I am here now," she soothed as she tugged open her top and placed his hand on her mating mark. She lifted her hand to touch his and watched as he calmed immediately. "Rest now love," her Scottish brogue said emotionally. "I shall not leave you!"

Harry shifted in the bed taking her with him. He shifted so she rested partly on him and his hand laid gently on her belly. Amethyst flashed into the room and trilled calmly as she perched herself on the headboard. Minerva whispered a thank you to her familiar.

Helen silently spelled a basic healing draught in Minerva's system and relieved her of her need to visit the loo with a flick of her wand. Hermione switched Minerva's war-ravaged robes with a simple nightgown magically and accioed Minerva's hairpins. Minerva whispered a quiet thank you to them before she tightened her hold on Harry and followed him in Dreamland.

Harry awoke to Minerva's pained groans and frowned. Before he could utter a word, Amethyst flashed out of the room and returned with a bewildered Poppy and Helen in tow. "You brilliant girl," Harry praised the Phoenix.

Poppy and Helen rushed into action and cast spells at Minerva to find the cause. "What's wrong," he asked concerned.

"The adrenaline from the battle has worn off and now her injuries are making themselves know," Poppy said matter-of-factly.

"Injuries," Harry repeated horrified.

"She refused treatment when she noticed those with major injuries were still waiting to be treated," Poppy said with a frown. "Helen managed to spell a basic healing draught in her system but she has not been thoroughly examined."

Harry was crushed when he realized she put off seeking medical treatment when she realized that he needed her emotionally. "Stop that," Helen whispered when she saw his face. "This is not your fault and you will not blame yourself. Minerva chose to stay with you."

"Helen's right," Poppy agreed. "Minerva wouldn't have been pulled from your side regardless of the reason. She deemed your needs more important than her own."

Harry nodded his head and gently tried to move over to allow Poppy more room to work. Minerva gripped his shirt with her fists in her unconscious state and refused to let go. "Lie back down Harry," Poppy said gently. "She doesn't want you to leave her it seems."

Harry held Minerva as Poppy diagnosed and healed all of Minerva's injuries. He was relieved when he realized a couple of broken bones and a gash or two was the most severe of them. "She will be perfectly fine Harry," Poppy said gently. "I will have a light supper sent to you both. I want you to rest for the night and I will see you both tomorrow morning before breakfast." Harry just nodded his head and pulled Minerva closer.
