Varian pulled out his phone. Now where the hell is the Dark Kingdom? he thought, searching Corona Maps.

"Just follow the black rocks?" Varian said, frustrated, "You've gotta be kidding me!"

So he followed the black rocks to the Dark Kingdom, afraid of what would happen if he turned back now. Conflicted with his thoughts, he worried about the state of his father and yet felt guilty for turning down Rapunzel. He now knew it wasn't actually her fault. She just had important things to take care, right? Wrong! He couldn't go down that path again of learning to trust- not until he found the Moonstone that is.

Varian then found himself in front of a castle. It didn't look like anyone was in it, so he just walked right in without thinking. He looked around when he saw a picture hanging in the centre of the wall right above the fireplace.

Wait a minute, he thought, Is that?

He rubbed his eyes. It couldn't be Eugene.

I'm just tired, Varian thought, Just gotta keep trucking along.

And then he found it, or so he thought. Varian entered the room where the Moonstone was rumoured to be. But it was gone.

"Shit!" Varian cursed aloud, "I came all this way for nothing? Where the hell is the Moonstone!?"

A girl in all black emerged out of nowhere. On her suit, near the top, had a bright blue stone. "Looking for this?" she asked.

"As a matter of fact, yes!" Varian exclaimed, "How did you find it? And what is it exactly? I have so many questions! Let me study it!"

The girl blinked for a second. "Varian?" she said, "What are you doing here?"

"Whoa, whoa, whoa! How do you know my name?" Varian asked.

"It's me, Cassandra," she said, "Raps came all the way from Corona to the Dark Kingdom four years ago to fulfill what she thought was her destiny."

"Don't tell me you're in on this destiny crap too," Varian said.

"And to fulfill mine, I just had to take the Moonstone from her!" Cassandra said, "Tough luck. Life isn't all sunshine and lollipops, Raps. You've gotta be careful who you trust."

"Damn right!" Varian said, "And you seriously call the very last person I ever trusted 'Raps'?"

"I did," Cassandra said.

"But why did you take it? She trusted you and you just betrayed her!" Varian cried.

"Now you care about her?" Cass said, "Oh, please!"

"Give me the Moonstone!" Varian said, "We'll sort all this out later."

"No," she said, "Not until you give me what I want."

"And what's that?" Varian asked.

"My mother dumped me for that stupid princess when I was just a little girl! We must kill Rapunzel once and for all!"

"Kill? Who said anything about killing? I need that Moonstone so that I can save my father! Unless you want to be another person who will pay!"

"Ugh, fine," Cassandra said.

"Thank you," said Varian, "I'll be taking that now."

"Not so fast!" Cassandra said, "We both have beef with Rapunzel for different reasons, but they both deal with trust issues. So you're coming with me and there's no way in hell you're getting that Moonstone!"

Varian followed Cassandra. "So, I see you dyed your hair blue," he said, "Finally paying homage to this blue streak?"

"Don't ask about it," Cassandra said.

"Oh, I see. Still a fiesty bitch, I see," Varian said, "That's hot."

"Hot? You think I'm hot?" Cassandra said, stopping in her tracks.

"Sure, why not? You look good with blue hair if I do say so myself," Varian replied.

"Don't flatter me, Varian," Cassandra said.

"So, Cass, how did you transform into this evil Moonstone form?" Varian asked.

"Again with the unnecessary questions," Cassandra said, "Don't try me. I don't want to tell you. Plus, it was when I took the Moonstone. It just sorta did this."

"Fascinating!" Varian said, "More reasons to study it!"

Cassandra clasped the Moonstone. "And how do I know I can trust you?"

"Trust is overrated, Cass. If you put your faith in someone or they put their faith in you, your life's doomed," Varian said, "Just remember: everything ends in betrayal. Then, you're left doing everything yourself because the people you thought you trusted didn't give a damn!"

"Varian, are you OK?" Cassandra asked.

Varian glared at her, instantly regretting that decision.

"I'm fine. Just drop it," he said.
