So,
I got this idea from my history class
don't even ask how-I don't know, we were talking about the 1920's
so that doesn't really explain how my brain thought this up.
Yeah!
So here is my newest story and of course, it's a NaLu!
Once Again.
I'll explain a bit more at the bottom so for now
just enjoy!
Disclaimer: I do not own Fairy Tail.

Prologue
OoOoO
Zeref hadn't thought that the men actually had the audacity to show up and arrest him nor did he think they would have the backbone for it. Although he reasoned with himself, they were all led by an idiot so really, it shouldn't have come as a surprise. He half expected them to have little to no evidence to prosecute him. The embarrassment would have made up for throwing him in a cell and leaving his little brother alone at their house. He would enjoy the flustered look on Josè's face if that would occur.
The bastard had been watching him closely for some time, even tried questioning his own brother to get information (which had failed); Natsu had picked up on suspicious behavior quite quickly due to certain unhappy business associates. His little brother was tough, Natsu is a fighter and he knew that, however, that fighting spirit got the best of him when it came to his family. A horrible weakness to have. Although after their father's abandonment, he doubted the behavior would ever stop.
"Are you enjoying yourself, Zeref?" He could smell the strong scent of cigars wafting off of Josè, it was putrid-he'd never been a fan of smokers. He could hear the man release a long breath and hear the quiet clank of the metal bars as he brushed against them, "I'm sure that you are, perhaps you're actually safer in this cell than you are with the young boy-what was his name- Natsu." Zeref didn't respond, there was no need to add fuel to the flames, whatever way this turned out the man would be getting what he deserved. "Why don't you just go ahead and tell me what you've been doing all these years, hm? I'm sure there's a lot to say."
"I have nothing to confess," he replied with ease. "I've been doing my civil duty by working the fields and providing food for myself and my brother, what wrong have I done?"
"Plenty," Josè quipped, Zeref chuckled at the irritated tone. "For example; you've been practicing the art of witchcraft."
"Have I now?" He shifted his body so he was facing the wall while lying on his cot, tracing the cracks in the wall with his eyes. For such an expensive building they had poor designs in the cells, "I don't recall ever doing such things-you know I would never do anything that would potentially put my brother or I in danger." He could hear a satisfying string of curses sent his way by the man, "There is no need for such vulgar language Josè."
"Why you little- I know what you've been doing, Zeref, don't even deny it." The clink of Josè's rings against the cell bars was loud and he could hear a few startled murmurs coming from the cells next to his. Again, the smell of cigar smoke surrounds him and he nearly snapped at the man-what a disgusting smell to have surrounding your person. "You have been practicing witchcraft for a very long time now, and I know you are the leader of a cult where all the members worship you as if you were their God."
"What bold accusations…" He dragged his fingers lightly over the cracks on the wall, some loose concrete breaking off underneath the movement. "I will admit I have a few admirers but I like to think it is because of my good work ethic, I do have one of the best crops in town." His mind was beginning to get foggy, the smoke was getting to him and he hated it. "Now, would you mind leaving me be? You're cigars smell like a dirty old man that has yet to bathe."
"What insolence!" Josè screeched in anger, the gravelly sound of his voice echoing in the rather spacious area. Zeref could just hear one of his men trying to calm him down-assuring him that there was no lingering stench around him as had been described. "You are a despicable creature that the world should be rid of Zeref Dragneel! You hear me- Despicable!"
Zeref let out an irritated sigh when the man left, there was still a faint stench of the cigars left behind and by now he wished he could cut Josè in half. He had nothing better to do than laze around and order others to do dirty work for him; despite the repulsed people of the town- he continued to think he was a respectable man. What a load of bullshit that was. He shook his head and stared down at his arms, watching a long, thin cloud of black smoke circled his arm, he loved the overwhelming feeling of death that came along with it, it thrilled Zeref in the oddest of ways, and when he thought of the nearing future. His end was coming soon however he had one last plan for the future that would bring much power to the underworld.
Tomorrow, he would watch as his followers and Natsu stood before him, eyes full of fear for the future. The priest reciting prayers from the bible, praying for his soul to rest and piece after his hanging. The young boy that was his neighbor's child would shakily read out the verdict and Zeref will only stand there, waiting for the wood beneath his feet to give out and the rope tied so tightly around his neck to hold him up. And dangle him on the tree branch. They could celebrate his hanging. He had things to do in the afterlife and only then will they see his full potential.

First Noose
ALaViola: Okay first thing, this story does not revolve around Zeref; this is just to get you a start on some things before we're getting into Lucy. The song I used at the beginning and end of this chapter is called A wolf in Sheep's clothing by Set it Off. This is really short, not like my usual updates on other stories but the Prologue will be the shortest chapter you will ever get so the chapter I post after this will have a greater effect. After I update the next chapter, this story won't be updated for a while due to me wanting to finish up other stories before I start up this one again.
As a side note, I wrote this story back in like 2016
So I have had the prologue written for quite some time now
so forgive me for the shortcoming in this chapter as I was young when I initially planned this out.
So, Thanks for understanding and Reading!
Until next time!
