Hey guys. I know it's been a while. I have to deal with a LOT of homework. So I haven't had time to write. Sorry about that. Anyway, here's Chapter 2 of Project Tsuki no Me.

Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto. If I did, Madara would be the Final Boss. It belongs to Masashi Kishimoto.

Chapter 2 - Descent into Darkness Part One

After Minato announced Mito and Menma as the heroes of Konoha, life went on. The people of Konoha who loved their hokage trusted Minato's judgement. Kushina survived due to being an Uzumaki and the vilagers accepted Mito and Menma as the saviors of their village and treated them like heroes.

Naruto was soon forgotten on their birthdays even though they shared the same one. On Christmas was the same thing, during the family parties, family dinners, family vacations…not once did they remember him. He was left at home alone. Sometimes when his parents were so attentive of his siblings they would forget about his food. And when they did notice him, they would only nod their heads as if he wasn't of any importance.

On their fourth birthday, Naruto was forgotten again. That was three years ago. Today he would go and ask his parents if he could train with them and his siblings like they had been doing for months. They told him to stop being a pest. Apparently he would only hold his brother and sister back.

In the village things were no different, since the villagers would ask if the Hokage had a son, they would only laugh and tell him to go away, saying to stop lying.

On October 10th, the day of his sixth birthday, Naruto walked out of his room and went out to see that his parents were getting the gear ready for Mito and Menma's training. He went to ask if he could train with them today, but when he got close he heard them only talking about his siblings and how happy they would be, they mentioned anything about him.

Today, inside Konoha, if you looked closely at a random street, you would see a white-haired boy, walking with a depressed expression. He had onyx eyes and was 4'2 ft tall. His hair had bangs in front and was spiky in the back(Sasuke's hairstyle, but with white hair). He was wearing a white short-sleeved shirt and gray shorts. This was Naruto Namikaze. The 7-year old son of the Fourth Hokage.

Earlier, he tried to get his parents to train him, AGAIN. It went horribly.

(Flashback)

The days seemed to go the same way they went by every day the same way as they always did. Right now, Naruto watched his parents teach his younger siblings their fighting styles with a scroll of Jutsu on the side for later. He was hoping that today would be the day that they would finally be that day that they would finally train him he hoped for that every day as long as he could remember that wall he ever wanted their acknowledgement, their approval, their acceptance. Every time Naruto went up and asked his parents they would just tell him to leave them alone and continue to focus on his siblings' training, since they believed that they needed it more since they had the Kyuubi sealed into them seven years ago on the day of their birth.

Even his own godparents, Jiraiya and Tsunade, felt that he wasn't worth their time.

After being rejected the last time Naruto took it upon himself to get stronger, so he began reading book on chakra control and learn all he could. He thought that if he learned some things on his own his parents would train him just like his siblings.

As Naruto left his family's compound he headed straight to one of the training fields that were open for any shinobi or shinobi in training to use. Arriving at the field he opened up the scroll that he had taken from his father's library, it was on intermediate chakra control, reading the first line he saw that it was on tree walking.

He trained for hours that day until he could run up and down the tree as if it was the ground.

He spent the whole week learning new exercises and techniques after sneaking into his parents' library. He proceeded to learn to Water Walk. Then learned the C-Rank jutsu Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu.

One week later, when he returned to the library, after learning the Fireball Jutsu, Naruto found a scroll written by Kakashi Hatake. It was his personal invention, the A-Rank Lightning Style Jutsu called Chidori.

This was it! If he managed to learn an A-Rank jutsu, his parents would finally agree to train him for sure!

One week later, Minato and Kushina were on the Training Ground training Mito and Menma. They were learning the Tree Walking Exercise.

Mito fell from the tree. Mito growled in frustration, "Aargh! This is impossible. How do you expect us to do something like this?"

Kushina consoled Mito, "It's ok, sweetie. You'll get it after some practice."

Minato added, "Yeah. Just do some more hard work and soon you'll be an expert at Tree Walking and even Water Walking."

Menma put his hand up to Mito's ear and whispered, "Plus, we're totally better than that loser brother of ours. Mom and Dad don't even bother training him. He's a pathetic clown."

Mito giggled. Her brother always knew how to cheer her up. She then picked up a bowl of ramen from the table and began to eat.

Just then, Naruto ran up to them. "Mom, Dad, can you train me now? I learnt the basics, so you won't have to train me as much." Naruto proceeded to walk up the tree Mito failed to walk on. "See, I already managed to do the Tree Walking Exercise. Even Mito couldn't do that." Naruto thought to himself, 'Now that I've managed to do Tree Walking, which even my siblings couldn't do, they'll HAVE to train me with them.' Little did Naruto know that all of his hopes and dreams were about to get crushed.

Minato opened his mouth to scold him, but an irritated Kushina beat him to it, "Naruto, stop trying to show up your siblings. We told you that we'd start teaching you once you graduated from the Academy."

Naruto was appalled. Even that show of skill wasn't enough to get his parents to train him? He wouldn't give up. He yelled, "If that's not enough to convince you, then how about this?" Naruto formed the Tiger Seal and fired a large ball of fire from it. "Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu!" Naruto then proceeded to gather lightning chakra in his hand. "Chidori! One Thousand Birds!" Naruto ran at high speeds and pierced the tree with his jutsu. 'Ha! They've got to be impressed by my new jutsus. Now I'll finally get trained.'

Naruto grinned as he looked up at his parents and sister; he noticed many different emotions, but mostly anger. His sister had dropped her bowl of ramen and her face was as red as her hair, she couldn't believe what she had seen, her no good brother had learn something she hadn't yet. But, no, that wasn't what infuriated her the most, he hadn't even told her. His brother was pissed that he actually managed to learn jutsu. Kushina's face contorted into an expression of rage. She gritted her teeth at the display her son had done and was about to move to berate him, Minato, however, moved faster.

"So what do you think?", the small white-haired boy asked cheerfully. He got his answer in the form of a thunderous slap across his face that sent him flying into the tree he had run up.

"You stupid little bastard, what the hell were you thinking pulling such a stunt?" Minato yelled at his other son, "Who the hell taught you the Fireball Jutsu and the Chidori?!"

"I t-took a-a s-s-scr-scroll f-from y-your s-study," Naruto stuttered.

"You worthless piece of scum, how dare you take something without permission," this time it was Kushina who said this, "we give you everything that you need, a roof to sleep under, the clothes on your back, and we feed you, and this is how you repay us, we told you that you would start your training when the academy begins, but nooooo, you go and steal from us, just to try and get us to train you. We're training your siblings so she can harness the power of the Kyuubi so it won't be a threat to them when they're older but you on the other hand don't need the training. NOW GO TO YOUR DAMN ROOM AND STAY THERE!"

Tears had begun to fall from his eyes, he had never been screamed at like that, his parent's hated him there was nothing more to it, and his eyes then fell on his sister who was coming in his direction.

"NARUTO YOU IDIOT!" she yelled at him and ended it with a slap that made his face hit the dirt.

Menma felt bad for Naruto and wondered why Hitomi hit him. Even though he was a hopeless loser, he was still his brother and he still loved him.

"You heard your mother, get up and go to your room and you're not getting any dinner," Minato said harshly, "GO!"

So Naruto left and his family cooled off. With all of them none the wiser that a certain two-faced plant creature witnessed the whole ordeal.

(Flashback End)

Naruto was depressed about his parents abusing him like that. He did all of that hard work for nothing.

He climbed up to the top of the Hokage mountain. He then sat on the head of the First Hokage and cried.

A pair of arms reached from behind him and hugged him. It was his best friend Sayuri Uchiha. Naruto never had any other friends due to the fact that his siblings constantly humiliated him and since his parents never trained him, he always seemed like a complete loser to everyone. He hugged her back and continued to cry. She soothed him. "Shhhh. It's okay. It's alright now."

Sayuri was the only person who understood him. She was one of three triplets; Sasuke, Satsuki, and Sayuri. She too was misunderstood and neglected by her family. But her elder brother Itachi acknowledged her. She worked hard and, with guidance from Itachi, finally caught up to her siblings. She managed to get her parents to acknowledge her. Her parents then owned up to their mistakes and welcomed her with open arms. She, Satsuki, and Sasuke now trained together.

Sayuri spoke to him with a calm and soothing voice, "I heard about what happened with your parents today. Mito told me all about it." "Then you know how badly I failed to make them acknowledge me."

Naruto responded in a sullen voice. Naruto continued, "I'm such a pathetic failure. Maybe I should just di..." He was interrupted by a loud smack.

Sayuri glared at him with an expression of anger. "Don't even think about it! You are not pathetic and you are not a failure! If your family can't see that, then they don't deserve to be called your family." She spoke with a strong voice, "Naruto, you are the exact opposite of a failure. You learned the Fireball Jutsu in a few days. You learnt the Chidori in one week! You did all of that without them! You are a prodigy. So don't hold back. Keep striving forward. You don't need them to train you. You proved it yourself. You can become strong without them. Don't waste your time wallowing in despair and feeling sorry for yourself!"

Sayuri stood up and turned to leave. But before she did, she turned her head back with a sweet, heartwarming smile, and spoke in a soft, yet angelic voice, "The Naruto I know would never give up. Because that's his ninja way." And with those last few words, she Body Flickered away.

Naruto stood up and wiped his tears. A soft smile appeared on his face. Sayuri always knew just what to say to make him feel better. She was the only one in the entire world who was there for him. She was the only one in the entire world who understood him. She was just like him. That's why he loved her. Sayuri was an angel. She never felt hate or malice. She was the only one in the entire world whom he truly loved. She was his world. Little did he know that, soon, that world was going to end.

Later that evening, after training for a few hours, Naruto returned to the Hokage mountain to ponder what he would do with his future.

"Do you think they'll ever acknowledge you?", a deep voice asked from behind him. Chills went down Naruto's spine as he heard this. He stiffened and turned around to see a man wearing a black cloak, with a red cloud pattern. He looked at his face, only to see an orange mask with a spiral shape centered around a single opening, where his eye should be. As Naruto peered into the opening, a menacing Sharingan eye gazed back at him.

Naruto took a deep breath and asked, "Who are you?"

The masked man replied with a chuckle, "Who am I? To most, I am known as Tobi. But to a special few, I am known as Madara Uchiha."

Naruto gasped. He tried to hide the shock he felt as he learned the truth. He then composed himself. He asked, "What do you want with me?"

Tobi didn't answer. He then started to talk to Naruto. "Naruto Namikaze. I know about you. I've been keeping an eye on the Fourth Hokage for some time now, and I see how he and Kushina treat you. It isn't fair, is it?"

Naruto grimaced. "No. It's not."

Tobi then told Naruto, "What I want is for you to join me."

Naruto then responded, "Why would I do that? I don't know if you're really Madara Uchiha, since he was reported to be dead ages ago, but I do know that if you're claiming his name, then you have to be a missing-nin. I may have problems with my family, but I'm still a shinobi of Konoha. And I won't betray my home."

Tobi then inquired of Naruto, "I used to think the exact same way. Back when I was still a shinobi of Konoha. Tell me, what are your dreams? What do you seek to accomplish with your life?"

Naruto swiftly answered him. "I want to become the Hokage, protect the person I love, and bring peace to the shinobi world."

Tobi scoffed. "Become Hokage? You'll never get the chance. Once your father retires, one of your siblings will take your position and they'll steal your dream. I too once sought to become Hokage. But my dreams were shattered by this miserable world. The person you love is that Uchiha girl, right? What if she were to die, while you couldn't do anything about it? What if you were too weak to protect her because your parents didn't train you. You told me that your dream is to bring peace. Let me tell you something. The selfish desire to protect peace gives rise to war, and hatred is born from wanting to protect love. There is no such thing as peace to be found anywhere in this accursed world. This world is hell."

Tobi could see that Naruto was hesitating from hearing his words. "I know the REAL reason your parents neglected you for this entire time."

With those few words, Naruto snapped his neck to look at Tobi. "Tell me."

Tobi grinned underneath his mask. "You thought that it was because your siblings held the Nine-Tails, but you were wrong. If you want to know the truth, look into my eye." Naruto looked into Tobi's Sharingan and was pulled into a flashback.

(Flashback)

It was a few months after the Nine-Tails Attack. Minato was working inside the Hokage's office, doing his paperwork. "Damn this paperwork. It's never ending.", Minato cursed.

Just then Jiraiya broke into his office, entering through the window. "Yo Minato, what's up?"

Minato sighed. "Jiraiya-sensei, don't you know how to use a door." Seeing the mischievous smile on the old hermit's face, he just shook his head exasperatedly. He then asked, "Why did you want to meet me, sensei?"

"I've been told a prophecy from the Great Elder Toad Sage. It says that two children born with a great burden will save the world. Using nine tails of great power, they will vanquish evil and guide the Shinobi World to peace. It must be referring to Mito and Menma. The great burden it speaks of has to be the Nine-Tailed Fox!"

Minato gasped with shock. "That means they'll be the Children of Prophecy. My children are going to save the world!", Minato exclaimed with joy.

Jiraiya's expression then hardened, "In order to bring out their fullest potential, we must train them early, and focus all of our attention on them. But that also means we can't give our attention to Naruto. He will hold them back from achieving their destiny."

Minato had a solemn, but saddened expression on his face. He then said to his master, "I hate to say this, but I agree. Naruto doesn't have the fox's power. He won't be able to handle this training early. He isn't important. I'll talk to Kushina about this."

Jiraiya's face too contorted into sadness. "I'm sorry, Minato."

Minato then spoke the words that would later seal the world's fate, "I love Naruto. But this shinobi world is harsh. All of the children dream to be legendary shinobi one day. I know that Naruto will have that dream too. And I know that he won't be able to accomplish his dream without this training. He won't be strong without this training, he'll be a complete weakling. He'll be ridiculed for being weak. I know that. But I'm willing to sacrifice his future, his dream, and his happiness for the sake of my children and the world. I'm willing to sacrifice Naruto."

(Flashback End)

Naruto then gasped with shock and betrayal. Those last words his father said. I'm willing to sacrifice Naruto. Naruto for the first time felt darkness build inside his heart. He was boiling with a feeling unknown to him. The seeds of hatred had been planted. And they would soon grow to astronomical proportions.

Naruto had begun his descent into darkness and his path towards becoming the Saviour. But little did he know, the worst was yet to come.
