this line deeply moved me from the moment I saw it in the raws (I studied Japanese for 3 years) and I knew I had to do something with it so now that the translations are out, here we go

"Hiiro." He didn't meet her eyes, gripping on to the side of the building they were currently walking past. His hands were already shaking and he was sure the rest of his body would follow if it wasn't already.

"Yes?" Her light voice answered, a happy tone that often followed her name being called.

He blinked, glancing at her for only a moment before gripping the plank of wood harder, "I need to ask you something."

"What is it?" She moved over to him and gripped his free hand, gently rubbing her other hand across the top of it, "Of course you can tell me anything."

"I want…" His voice shook and he hesitated, considering if he was making a mistake. Shaking himself out of it, he shook his head and raised his voice, "Call me Yato from now on, okay?"

"Yato?" She repeated, making a bit of a grimace, "Why the name Yato?"

He stiffened up and gently pulled his hand out of hers as he turned away from her, "It's just what I want."

"I don't understand. What's wrong with Yaboku? It's the name Father gave you after all."

Hiiro asked so innocently, but a chill ran through him regardless. Yaboku was a chain. A word that attached him to everything he hated. A word that attached him to Father.

"I'm…" He bit his lip and for lack of a better word, he breathed out, "afraid of Yaboku."

"So you're scared… of a name?"

He finally turned back around, looking over the various names that covered her body, "That's not quite it. Just… consider it a favor between us, alright? I don't want to talk about it anymore." He sighed heavily.

Hiiro hummed thoughtfully before nodding, "Alright… Yato."

He smiled.
