Another one-shot in which Ezra is heartbroken that Sabine broke up with him. He did everything he could to make it work, but she leaves him for Wedge. Ezra then goes into a relapse, and Zeb takes it upon himself to help his brother. Enjoy! Have a good day, stay home, stay safe.

Sorry Ezra. You just aren't what I'm looking for.

The words echo in his mind.

Wedge is so handsome. You? Well, you have had the looks of a Hutt.

Look, I was only going out with you because Hera was with Kanan, and Zeb is a Lasat. Not the most good-looking creatures.

I know that you have been through a lot, with the death of your parents. That's kind of why I didn't break up with you sooner. But now, you can take it like a champ.

And that was the end of it. They started dating a few months after Ezra had joined the crew. He had grown up a lot, his ex being a big factor. He remembered when he helped her paint the TIE that Zeb and he stole a while back. And he hated remembering anything he did with Sabine.

So what did he do? He decided to take a drink. Then it went to 2, then 3, and he lost count of how many he had, but he went through 5 bottles of beer, and he started on whiskey on ice. The tall, 1.6 bottle was about half empty, and Ezra had no intentions of stopping.

Zeb knew that Ezra was feeling down about his breakup with Sabine. He was upset about the fact that she moved in with Wedge. When Zeb didn't see Ezra come back to the cabin for bed, he started to worry. He may have just gone to watch the moonlight. His confidence started to shake as the hours got later. It was midnight, and he still didn't hear Ezra come into the room. So, he took it upon himself to help his brother.

After looking for an hour, Zeb found him at the Base Bar. Nobody was there, except the 17 year old kid he was looking for. The sight he saw was not pretty. Zeb knew what was going on.

"Ezra?" Zeb called gently, not trying to scare the poor kid.

Hearing his name, the kid looked in the direction of the voice. A frowned face turned into a drunken smile. "Zeb! Buddy!" After taking another shot of Whiskey, Ezra continued. "What are you doing here?"

"Well, I've been looking for you. It's almost midnight." Zeb was trying to take this carefully. He wasn't sure if this was the kid's first time. "What are YOU doing here?"

Ezra answers with a lopsided smile. "Celebrating! Celebrate with me!" Ezra takes another shot glass, and pours the liquor. Zeb knows that the kid has been in a bar before, with the way the glass slides across the counter. Raising his glass, Ezra says, "To us single men, who have no woman in our lives. To the men who have no one. They are the lucky ones. And now, I have the privilege to join them."

After Ezra drinks to his toast, he notices that Zeb hasn't drank. A deep frown and angry face comes across Ezra's face. "Why didn't you drink? It's rude to not drink to a toast."

To keep Ezra happy and calm, he drinks the shot. Although he has been sober for years, he is breaking it for his brother. Time to get him out of here.

"Hey Ezra, don't you think you have had enough?" Zeb waves to the many beer bottles on the counter and floor. "I mean, I know I can't hold that much stuff inside me."

Ezra takes another shot, his 10th since Zeb saw him. "Bummer. It's a party in here. Just me, and the few friends that never hurt me. If you don't mind Zeb, we would like to keep the party going."

Ezra was about to take another, before Zeb stops his arm. "Party's over kid."

Ezra ignores him, and takes the whiskey bottle in his other hand to his mouth, feeling the strong sting in his throat. Zeb takes the bottle and puts them out of Ezra's reach.

"Everybody want's to ruin my life. First Sabine, now you. I need to be with my friends." Ezra tries to reach again, but Zeb stops him.

"Tell you what? If you leave these friends behind, I will help you find new ones, deal?" Zeb tries. "Or at least a few girls who are willing to have a one night stand."

Ezra likes the idea of one night stands. It would be a way for him to forget about Sabine. She never really showed any display of affection around him. So, the appeal of one night stands were very convincing. "Welp, see you boys later." Ezra stumbles out of the stool he was sitting on.

After walking to the Ghost, he plops Ezra on the bottom bunk in their room. It took them longer than it should have, but Ezra tried to escape. 4 times. Finally, Ezra gave up.

As soon as Ezra was placed on the bed, he tried to get up again. Zeb shoved him forcefully, but not to hurt him. "If you think, for one more second-"

He was cut off when the younger crewmate said, "Music. I gotta write the music."

"Kid," the Lasat starts, "you can write it when you are sober."

The human teen protests. "No. I'm gonna forget about it. Please Zeb. I promise that I won't drink again. It's not working anyways."

With a sigh, the Lasat lets the kid grab his holo-music equipment. Ezra had been heard singing a song that the crew never heard. When the crew asked who wrote it, he answered he did. After that, Hera had gotten every holo-music instrument he needed. He even had a holo-pad just for recording and mixing.

He went for the piano first. He started doing a simple repeat tune. He recorded for a few seconds, and Zeb was confused as to what he was doing.

After adding a few drums and some guitar to it, he started to add some more synth and started to write down some lyrics.

When he stopped writing, he showed the lyrics to Zeb. "What do you think?"

Zeb cannot even speak. How the kid came up with these lyrics, especially drunk, he couldn't explain. "They sound great kid. You really outdid yourself with this one."

Taking out a mic, Ezra tries to plug it into the pad. Zeb helps. The Lasat was about to tell him to record in the morning, but Hera and Kanan were off on a mission, and the drunk teen would probably break down again.

Zeb listens as the kid records the song. Ezra had some earbuds to plug into the datapad, and sings to the instrumental he made.

I can't play that song cause it reminds me of you
I can't watch that show cause it reminds me of you
I can't even go there, it reminds me of you
I don't wanna do that, it reminds me of you
Cut off all my friends cause they remind me of you
I can't drink again cause it reminds me of you
I don't wanna do stuff that reminds me of you
Everything and everywhere reminds me of you

I know we can't be together ever again
You told me it's forever, I didn't know forever could end
You had me messed up, thinkin I would die here for you
She got me messed up, can't believe I was so blinded by you
But I don't wanna cry
Got my finger on the trigger, man
I'm thinkin bout a homicideI feel like I could die
Maybe if it was all over I could have you in another life

I can't play that song cause it reminds me of you
I can't watch that show cause it reminds me of you
I can't even go there, it reminds me of you
I don't wanna do that, it reminds me of you
Cut off all my friends cause they remind me of you
I can't drink again cause it reminds me of you
I don't wanna do stuff that reminds me of you
Everything and everywhere reminds me of you

Gotta step out, get some fresh air
Saw you in the hall, you were showin off your rebound
Why'd you leave for him? Give me one good reason
Why'd you leave for him, then rub it in my face, why? (Why?)
Fighting for your love, and baby, didn't think I'd lose
Hate the memories cause they remind me of you
If you ever needed someone, I was right there for you
Told you that I loved you girl, I wasn't lyin to you
Fighting for your love, and baby, didn't think I'd lose
Hate the memories cause they remind me of you
If you were in trouble, I was fightin for you
Told you that I loved you girl, I wasn't lyin to you

I can't play that song cause it reminds me of you
I can't watch that show cause it reminds me of you
I can't even go there, it reminds me of you
I don't wanna do that, it reminds me of you
Cut off all my friends cause they remind me of you
I can't drink again cause it reminds me of you
I don't wanna do stuff that reminds me of you
Everything and everywhere reminds me of you

Zeb doesn't know how, or why, but Ezra seemed to be a little sober. Not completely, but not totally drunk still. Ezra puts away his equipment, and starts to climb up the ladder to the top bunk.

"Oh no." The older man says, and takes the kid off the ladder. "You are sleeping on the bottom bunk tonight."

Ezra protests. "But then you will sleep on the top bunk, and could fall on me and crush me in my sleep. Remember what happened when Chop took out the bolts?"

Zeb remembers. The stupid droid took out the bunk bolts and when Ezra sat on the top bunk, it fell on the Lasat. It didn't hurt him too much, but if Ezra was afraid of laying on the bottom bunk, and Ezra was on top, there was only one solution.

"Scoot over." The gruff voiced man says. Ezra was about to protest that as well, but Zeb says, "I don't trust that you are NOT going to get up in an hour or two when I am asleep, so scoot over. You are sleeping against the wall."

"But you will squish me." The drunk teen is starting to get on Zeb's nerves more than the sober Ezra.

"Good. That means you won't escape, and I'll feel you if you try to. Now, scoot over."

After the 2 roommates get settled, Ezra says, "Zeb?"

"What?"

"I know I can be a pain, so thank you for being the brother I never knew I wanted."

Yup. Still drunk. Zeb knows that the kid will not remember this when he wakes up, so he says, "Your welcome kid. You're my brother too."

With that, the 2 brothers fall asleep on the tiny, but comfortable bed.

A few weeks later, after Ezra had tried to get drunk again, Zeb finally took Ezra to the Rebel therapist they had. It would help Ezra stop trying to get drunk, because it wasn't working for Ezra to deal with his emotions on his own. Kanan and Hera were fully supportive when Ezra was getting help, and a few months later, Ezra was back to his old cheery self. He missed Sabine, but he hasn't seen her for 5 months. He knows that Kanan and Hera talk to her from time to time, but he is okay with it. As long as he has his Jedi teacher, his mother figure, and his brother, he would be okay.

Chopper was nicer to Ezra, but still pulled pranks on him. The grumpy orange droid basically became Hera AND Ezra's pet, meaning, he now HAD to listen to Ezra. Hera's orders. Ezra was happy, and felt better than he had in a long time.

There ya go! I liked this concept for a one-shot, and I finally finished it. Let me know if you liked it. Also, the song featured in this chapter is Reminds Me of You by Juice WRLD and The Kid LAROI. I only rewrote the lyrics, and have not done this for monetary gain, purely for fun. Hope you liked the different lyrics. New chapter for The Conflict Within is almost ready to be put out! Have a good day, stay home, stay safe.
