I'm finally here was her first thought stepping off of the airship. Catherine Bayonet (or cat as some called her) was a simple pale girl with a few freckles here and there, long orange hair and bright teal eyes. Clad in a purple tank-top and jeans she looked no different than any other highschool girl, save for the anti-material rifle slung over her shoulder.

Taking a deep breath, Catherine picked up her bag and started towards the school.

Time to do john proud.

"Sup purple derple!"

Cat froze at that voice. a voice she knew well. a voice that oozed over confidence and smugness.

Turning she locked eyes with the last person she wanted to run into.

Azure Camo, standing at 5'7 he was about three inches shorter than her with unkempt short black hair, eyes the same shade of blue as his name sake and his usual cocky grin as a bushy racoon tail waved behind him.

He wore combat boots, camouflage cargo pants and a dark grey jacket with blue stripes and rolled up sleeves, clashing with the orange t-shirt he wore underneath it.

On his back was his primary weapon, that damned assault rifle/chainsaw sword hybrid called "retaliation" and encasing the boy's right forearm was his secondary, a weaponized grappling hook named "whiplash".

"Trash panda" was Catherine's curt reply, her voice monotone, "i thought you were going to haven."

Unfazed or uncaring of her insult Azure shrugged, "and i thought you were going to atlas, guess we were both wrong." He placed his hands in his pockets and leaned back, looking to his left, "though I wasn't expecting her ether," he said with a frown.

Following Azure's eyes Catherine spotted none other than Weiss Schnee yelling at some girl in a red cloak.

"Hmmm, wasn't expecting her to be here either…" Cat honestly was expecting both of the Schnee sisters to join the atlas military, but before she could dwell on it further Azure threw an arm over her shoulder.

"Well enough about ice queens, what has the invisible cunt been up to?" he was quickly pushed away by the sniper as they walked along towards the school.

This is gonna be a nightmare.

Meanwhile, spinning around in the school courtyard without a care in the world, a girl with scarlet eyes and buzz-cut short dirty blonde hair was enjoying herself a little too much.

Clad in a black westerns style duster with a red star on the back, a red tank top, black jeans and topped off with cowboy boots and hat she looked like she stepped out of the dollars trilogy. Especially with the large revolver resting on her hip.

She abruptly stopped spinning, eyes gleaming with childlike wonder, "would you look at this place! How do you even make a building this big!"

"E-excuse me but who are you talking to?"

The gunslinger whirled around to find a golden blonde, amber eyed, 6'3 tank of a student.

clad in bright yellow heavy ballistic armor decorated with black stripes, he looked like a big cation sign. Heavy metal-covered boots added an extra inch or two to the boys height and came up to his knees, his wide chest piece sported a little smiley face sticker over his heart, the shoulder pauldrons transitioned seamlessly with his gauntlets, and on the right pauldron was an image of a flaming fist.

Impressed with his size but not intimidated, the gunslinger tipped her hat and said, "sorry about that, names Lily Ranger and this is Daisy" she gestured to the big iron on her hip.

The tank gave the girl a confused look, "um Murus, Murus Ignus, and you didn't answer my question, who were you talking to?"

"Daisy"

"you were talking to your gun?"

"yep"

"like it was a person"

"yep"

"...why?"

Lily just shrugged, she had been asked these questions a million times and the answer never changed, "she's my friend, don't you talk to your friends?"

Murus flinched at that, "I uh, don't have many friends… none at all in fact."

Lily looked up at Murus with a frown, then with a determined smirk, "well then I'll be your friend!"

Murus was taken aback by the gunslinger's declaration, "you just met me and you want to be friends?"

Lily just grabbed his hand and started towards the assembly room where the other first years were heading. "Just means I'll have to get to know you! So where did you get your armor? Did forge it yourself or did you buy it or-"

Murus let himself be pulled along by the shorter girl letting her ask her questions and answering them when she stopped to breathe.

He didn't expect to make friends right off the bat, or at all really, and Lily was kinda odd, but he wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth.

The next day the first years were in the locker room, preparing for initiation.

Catherine had ditched her civilian clothes for her combat gear, a set of modified Atlas military armor. 'Modified' in the fact that the helmet covered all of her head, not leaving the mouth exposed like the standard set. Also instead of white with blue stripes her's was a deep purple with teal stripes.

Tucking her combat knife into the sheath on her chest piece, she recounted the rounds for her anti-material rifle.

"so when are you gonna put a bayonet on that thing?"

Catherine fought back a grown, Azure had made it his mission to annoy her to the brink of insanity and good lord it was tempting to shoot him point blank.

Turning to the boy leaning on her locker she replied with as much respect she could muster for him, "I am not putting a bayonet on my gun just because it's in my name."

The Faunus stood up right and shrugged, "you could use a better melee option than that butter knife, just saying."

Cat growled in anger, "you listen here you irresponsible, deadbeat trash panda-"

On the opposite side of the locker room Lily and her new friend (that brings her friend count to two!) were armed and ready to slaughter their way through initiation. In their own ways of course.

Lily had learned that Murus' weapon was a halberd flamethrower hybrid named flame breaker, and in a forest it was going to be devastating.

Of course Lily would never trade Daisy in just for that kind of fire power, though a flamethrower sounded like fun, she had been training a long time to perfect her marksmanship.

She looked up at her friends, he was wearing a helmet with a gas mask built into the face plate, it's color scheme matching the rest of his armor.

"So-" before she asked her question the PA speaker came to life, demanding all students to head to the cliff.

Standing up she, Murus and everyone else shuffled out the door.
