Fantasy February: Day 3

Pillaging the Stars

The ship glided through the atmosphere silently, if not for the intimidating size of the craft, no one would have noticed it. The crew maintained their stealthy positions, crouched down upon the deck, hidden from all angles. A strategy that had always served them well when it came to raids, and in that moment, their sights were set on a small space craft floating in the distance.

Captain Regulus Black had become one of the most feared and well known pirates in the galaxy. He didn't believe in mercy, and he referred to himself as an equal opportunities villain. A pirate that had no conscience, he targeted anyone and everyone, no exceptions. Not that he had always been that way.

He had always been a pirate, the second son of Orion Black, an infamous space pirate who had been feared all over the galaxy. He pillaged and plundered more treasure and space crafts than any other pirate the galaxy had ever seen. Naturally, both of his sons had fallen down the same path. His eldest son Sirius had been highly successful, with a strong crew at his side, he had built up a fearsome persona, becoming one of the most revered pirates to sail the galaxy.

Regulus had always stayed out of the spotlight, he had been the kinder brother, the one less inclined to wage war on any unfortunate ship to sail across their path. Until his brother had been murdered in cold blood. No one could forget the day Sirius Black had been betrayed, one of his closest friends having decided to mutiny and take the ship for themselves. No one could forget the way the younger brother had screamed, roaring in rage at the sight of Sirius' lifeless body as it floated through space.

Ever since that day, Regulus had changed. He refused to stop until he found his brother's lost ship, ridding the galaxy of the pirates that had betrayed his brother. They looted and murdered, taking out any ship and its occupants that came across their path, yet Regulus didn't care for the treasure and the prizes. The thrill of the adventure meant nothing to him, it was the thirst for revenge that continued to push him

"Weapons at the ready, we're gettin' close." His voice echoed across the deck, piercing through the silence. Standing at the wheel, his midnight black hair held back in a bandanna, while a sword and gun hung from a belt at his hip, Regulus was the epitome of every space pirate.

The ship drew up alongside the unsuspecting spacecraft, gently bumping against it. There was a moment of silence, nobody moving as everyone held their breath. Then everything erupted. Chains shot out from the crows nest and the ships bough, hooking on to the small ship as the crew made their way over in a flurry of limbs. Battle cries breached the silence of space, swords cutting through the atmosphere as Regulus watched on from the wheel of his own ship, a smug grin upon his lips. Watching on as his crew shredded the ship, anything of value was ripped from the ship itself, finding its way into the treasure hoard of Captain Regulus Black.

"Well would you look at that, seems like it's our lucky day boys," the Captain drawled, staring down at the hoard of riches they had pillaged from the unlucky ship. His crew cheered as they dragged out the ship's captain from within its living quarters. Throwing him to the deck, they glanced at their Captain, awaiting their orders as to what they should do with him. Regulus tilted his head, watching for a moment before a sly grin stretched across his lips, "kill 'em."
