ENTRY 9
CHOCOLATES FOR THEE

Mike was tired of being shunned at every turn. Ever since he'd gotten to high school, girls turned him down flat. When he was a freshman, he'd thought it was that he wasn't cool enough, so he worked hard to make a name for himself.

By the time he was a sophomore, he'd made it as a quarterback in varsity football, a point guard in varsity basketball, and even a pitcher in baseball – also varsity. To top that off, he was getting some of the best grades in school.

Still he was ignored, turned away, and shut down. Everyone from June with the geeky braces, to Lauren with the too cool for school attitude, refused his advances.

In his junior year, his bad luck became even worse when the new girl turned him down. And then, the one girl who he did date, spent all the dates talking about how hot Edward, the creepy ass loner, was.

No matter what he did, he couldn't get a break.

Finally, halfway through his senior year, he tried again with Bella – the not-so new girl – and maybe it had been in a little bit of bad taste... But it had been more than three months since she'd been dumped by her boyfriend in such a final way that the guy moved away from town even.

It should have been enough time to get over it.

He was once again turned down.

So, he sat at his table the night before Valentine's Day, injecting each chocolate in the box of chocolate hearts with cyanide.

He was going to make sure they all ate one tomorrow.
