CHAPTER TWO

"Attention passengers, the plane will be landing shortly. Please gather your belongings and prepare for landing." I was woken up by the sound of the flight attendant's voice. I looked out the window to see a beautiful city stretched out before me. It was getting dark, but the lights illuminated the city. I shook Roxy awake and we started to get our things together.

"This is it, Flora. Tomorrow we will be officially going to Redwood Academy," Roxy said while we waited for our bags at baggage claim. I saw my suitcase and reached down to grab it. I saw a pale hand reach to grab a bag next to mine. I looked up to see those mysterious blue eyes.

"Hi. I saw you at the last airport. I just had to say hello to a beauty like you." It's like time stopped. I stared into his eyes and he did the same with mine. At least to me, that's what happened.

[record scratch]

"Ahem. Can you move? You're in the way of my bag." He was not staring into my eyes, but rather and the black suitcase next to mine. He looked tired and annoyed. I quickly grabbed my suitcase and moved out of his way. I blushed and quickly walked to Roxy.

We found a taxi and gave the driver directions to the school. The whole ride, I replayed my awkward encounter in my head. Why am I like this?! Ughhh. At least I probably won't ever see him again. I looked out the window and toward the scenery.

The city was beautiful and I saw many gardens, malls, and coffee shops. I even saw this super cute boutique while we were at a stoplight. A light pink dress with flowers on the bottom of it was in the window. I could feel myself practically drooling over it.

"Roxy we have to go to that shop," I said while grabbing Roxy and pointing out the shop.

"Maybe on a free day we can go sightseeing through the city," she said, prying her face away from my hands. I agreed and took a photo of the shop before the light turned green. A few minutes later, the taxi stopped in front of the school. Roxy paid the driver, and we both grabbed our bags. That's when I really took a moment to examine the school.

It was a grand school surrounded by trees. A black iron fence lined the school property. The building itself looked like a castle. It was huge and made of stone. Etched into the stone were intricately carved designs of fairies, flowers, and other mythical creatures. I stood in awe of the school.

"Well, we're here," I said to Roxy with a smile. She smiled back and we walked toward the entrance. Once we entered the school, we were greeted by a lady with short brown hair and glasses.

"Welcome to Redwood Academy. I am Ms. Griselda." Her voice was monotone and held no emotion as she spoke to us.

"Hello. I'm Flora Lunaria and this is Roxanne Laidlaw." I said with my sweetest smile.

did not return the smile and instead looked at her clipboard.

"Tomorrow is orientation day where you will meet all your teachers. Here are your schedules, dorm number, and dorm keys, school map, and other general information," the lady said. We smiled at her and took the keys and papers she handed us with a thank you and left.

"Hey! Would you look at that, we're sharing a dorm," Roxy said cheerfully. We found the dormitory section of the school and looked for our own dorm. Roxy was skipping as we looked from door number to door number.

We finally found our dorm and I unlocked the door. It was a bare room painted a beige color. It looked slightly like a hotel room, but smaller. A small halfway led to the bigger square-shaped room. A small bathroom was on one side of the hallway and a closet on the other. In the square room, a bunk bed occupied one side of the room and a small desk and tv stand were shoved into the other side. A grey carpet covered the floor. Separating the bunk bed and the tv stand was a medieval-looking window that showed the slowly setting sun.

"I loved it already!" Roxy squealed and put her bags down. I followed her actions and put my suitcase in the closet. I set my backpack on the bottom bunk, as Roxy had already clambered up the ladder to the top bunk.

I heard a sigh. "Let's go meet some people." Roxy climbed down and started for the door. I followed her out.

We walked for a few minutes until we ran into three people. Literally ran into them. Roxy smacked her face into the back of a tall boy with maroon red hair and dark purple eyes. He turned and glared at her. Roxy dusted herself off, cleared her throat, and held out her hand. "Hi! I'm Roxy and this is my friend Flora. We're new here." The other two people turned to look at us. There was another boy. He had blue hair, hazel eyes so light they looked yellow, and piercings. A girl shorter than them both had short, red hair, and turquoise eyes. The girl smiled slightly at Roxy and me but did not extend her hand to shake.

"Hi. I'm Mirta. This is Nex and Riven." They nodded their heads when she said their names. I pushed Roxy's outstretched hand down and put it at her side. It was quiet in the hallway for a moment before I pulled Roxy's arm with me and started to walk away.

I said once we were outside the building. "Well that was awkward, huh," I said, giving Roxy a hip bump. She giggled and bumped me back. We kept walking until we found a picnic/courtyard looking area, where we saw more students. Kids were talking, singing, pushing each other, and playing various sports on the grass. Maybe we can make some new friends

I took a breath in and exhaled, then I began walking toward a group of girls with Roxy next to me. As we walked closer, I heard the courtyard grow silent. Out of the corner of my eyes, I saw people stare at us as we approached the girls.

"Hello, I'm Flora." It was silent. Not again. Then a girl with bangs and black hair smiled at me. "Hello, I'm Chimera and this is my squad." she pointed at the girls behind her. Most of them looked up and rolled their eyes, but a few waved and smiled. I smiled back," this is my friend Roxy. we're new here." Roxy waved. The rest of the courtyard was still deathly silent. I started to get uncomfortable with the staring. Chimera looked around the courtyard and then grabbed both Roxy and me by our forearms.

"Let's go have a little chat," said while we walked down a trail and toward a bench. She stopped once we got to the bench and motioned for us to sit. We faced her while we sat.

"I'm going to tell you how this school is run." All the niceness in her voice had disappeared as well as the smile. She had a cold look in her eyes as she spoke to us. "The populars-my squad- run this school. People bend over backward to try to hang out with us. We have our own designated tables and you don't get in our way. Everyone wants to be us, hang around us, talk to us, be near us." She evilly smiled at us while she decided how the school hierarchy worked.

"We are like queens in this school. After us, we have the bad kids. The whole school respects them because they look scary and apparently fight people in the city. Then there are the musically and artistically talented kids." She rolled her eyes as she started to talk about them with disgust. I got the feeling she didn't like them very much.

"The music kids sing, play instruments, and make noise all day. They're so annoying. I hate them so much. The artists are pretty silent and only draw and paint a lot. The athletes come next." She sighed dreamily. "They work out all the time and the boys in the group are considered to be the hottest in the school. Especially Brandon. Keep away from him, he's mine and I don't want to see either of you two losers hands on him." She said.

I started to scoot toward the end of the bench and discreetly get up. Chimera didn't notice this and I signaled to Roxy to get up.

"Then there's the nerds and the Teacher's pets. They all hang around each other and do nerd things, like play Dnd and whatever. The teacher's pets suck up to the teachers and are always perfect." Chimera turned to us. Roxy had finally gotten my signaling and getting up when she turned around.

"You were going to leave before I was finished talking? How rude. Never do that again and stay out of my way." And with that, she turned to leave.

"This sure was an interesting day," I said with a shaky chuckle. "I don't think I want to go back through the courtyard. Do you think there's a way to sneak back into the school?" I asked her. Roxy shrugged," I'm not sure, but we'll figure something out. We always do." I smiled at her and she smiled back.

Hello, people who read this. Thank you very much and I hope you have a good day. I leave you with this question. Who's your favorite character on the show and why?
