Chapter 3

Roxy POV

My alarm went off at the early time of 5:30. I yawned and stretched, feeling my bones crack as I stretched my legs. I changed from my onesie and into a pair of shorts and a t-shirt. I grabbed my shoes, phone, and dorm keys and left the room. I walked out of the school and found the running path. I put on my favorite playlist and started to jog. I listened to my music quietly until my favorite song came on.

"All the time I turn around brothas gather round always looking at me up and down looking at my-AHH," I tripped on a rock and fell on the stone path. I have really had a habit of being clumsy lately. I dusted myself off and checked for any injuries.

"Ughh." I found a big gash on my right knee and a few more little cuts on my other knees.

"That looks bad." I jumped when I heard a voice. A tall boy with brown skin and dreads dressed in a sweatshirt and shorts looked down at me. He looked concerned. He crouched down to my level and looked at my knee. "You might want to get that cleaned or looked at. I'm Nabu by the way."

"I'm Roxy." He snorted. "I know. Everyone knows who you and your friend are after yesterday." I cringed at the mention of yesterday. Nabu helped me up and we hobbled back to the school. "I hoped everyone would have forgotten about that situation by now," I told him. He laughed." Are you kidding? Did you think Chimera would have just taken you two and not tell the whole school what happened? Hell! I'd be surprised if the staff didn't know." We stopped once we got to my dorm room. I looked him straight in the eye and asked," Be honest, how bad will today be?" He started to walk off and answered my question without turning around. "Pretty bad."

I unlocked the door and went to the bathroom. I inwardly groaned at the thought of my knee burning when I showered. This was going to be painful.

"Come on Flora, we're going to be late for breakfast." I watched her grab her backpack and key and close the door. She looked at herself one more time in the mirror. We wore the school uniform, which consisted of a maroon blazer, white button-down shirt, and a maroon plaid skirt. I wore the same but with leggings and pink hightops.

"We're not going to be late. We have like 20 minutes to get to the dining hall," she told me while we started to walk away from the dorms. It was now 6:40 and we were on our way to breakfast.

"I know, but I want to find good seats." As we walked down the stairs, we started to see more students. Some glanced at us and turned to whisper, while others just flat out stared at us.

"You'd think we were popular with how people were looking at us," Flora said. I agreed. The more we walked, the more people watched us. I started to feel self-conscious and I wanted to sink into my blazer.

Finally, we made it to the dining hall. It was a large room that had many tables and seating areas for your choosing. There was a serving line to the side of the room where students lined up to get their breakfast. Flora and I walked over to the serving line. Everything looked so wonderful. I finally settled on pancakes and eggs while Flora got a fruit salad and yogurt. We decided to sit in the corner of the room next to a window.

"How's your knee?" Flora took a bite of her fruit. I'd put a large bandage on my knee and wrapped it in gauze. My other knee had stopped bleeding and just stung a little. "It's fine. They just sting," I said as I ate my pancakes.

We ate in silence for a few minutes while more students filed into the room. Soon the only sounds that could be heard were the sounds of utensils on plates. I got up to put my plate away and saw the headmaster and other teachers. As I made it back to my seat, I saw headmaster Saladan stand up.

"Hello and welcome students to a new year at Redwood Academy. I see many old faces and some new ones. I hope we have a fantastic year and I just have to make a few announcements. First of all, I would like you all to give a warm welcome to the new professor of chemistry; Professor Avalon." The room applauded as a man, who looked to be in his early forties with graying black hair stood up. He smiled at us all. I heard a girl sigh and giggle. I turned to look at the dining room and saw all the girls looking dreamily at him. Even Flora was glassy-eyed. I lightly tapped her arm and she shyly smiled at me.

The professor sat back down as the headmaster continued talking. "Now, here are some announcements from the head of sports, Coach Cordatorta." A burly man dressed in a polo and khaki shorts stood up. His facial expression held no humor, but discipline. He looked like a military officer.

"Hello, students. Sign up sheets will be on the boards in the entrance hall. When going to sign up, please don't stab each other with the pens. Not again." I chuckled at the thought of what could have happened as he continued. "Try out for sports will occur this afternoon from three to six-thirty. Check the boards for the times." he finished his statements and sat down.

Soon everyone finished eating and started to leave. Flora and I joined the crowd of students exiting the dining hall. I grabbed my schedule from my bag and read my classes. English is first in room 42. I quickly found the room. Not many people were in the class since the class started in about 15 minutes. The only people there were Nex and a couple who were kissing in the corner. Nex was watching them in disgust and I could see why. The girl, who had long brown curly hair, was sitting on the boy's lap. I looked at the boy and recognized him as Nabu. As I went to sit in the other corner in the back of the room, I heard moans coming from them. I sat down and tried not to look at them while they continued kissing.

"Gross isn't it?" I looked up to see Nex. He had quietly walked to the other side of the room and sat on the desk behind me. He didn't notice my silence and continued," They do this every day- like can they not do that in privacy?" He didn't look keen on an answer so I kept quiet. He kept talking, but I wasn't really listening. I was studying his face. His hair cut made his hair stand up. He moved his head slightly, letting the morning sun hit his face. When the light hit his eyes, they looked like honey. I thought his eyes were beautiful.

While I was watching him, other kids had filed into the. The bell-ringing snapped me out of my staring. Nex didn't move from the desk and just slid into the seat. The room was filled with people talking about their summer and catching up with others. Then the teacher walked in.

It was . The whole class went silent as she walked into the room. I saw her eyes sweep over everyone in the room. Her face remained stoic as she looked over us. Then she smiled.

"Hello, children. I am and I will be teaching you English this year. I expect you all to be punctual to my class and do your work diligently." She said seriously. "But today, since we have new students, we will be getting to know everyone. I'll go down the rows and call on you." walked over to her desk and sat down. "Stella, would you please come up here and introduce yourself."

A blonde girl sat in the front, got up, and stood in front of the class. "I'm Stella Solaria. My parents, Radius and Luna Solaria are world-renowned actors. I'm sure you've seen them. They're in many movies and tv shows. I'm The head cheerleader here. My life is basically perfect." Just as she began to sit down, someone from the class yelled," Aren't your parents getting a divorce?" The question sparked a frenzy of other conversions and questions no doubt about Stella. Stella froze and started stammering, "Ah. Y-yes...well…"

"Enough," Ms. Griselda commanded. Now, who's next?" One after another, each student went up and introduced themselves to the class, until it was my turn. As soon as a girl with fiery red hair named Bloom sat down, the whole class looked at me. Just go up there and introduce yourself. No biggie. Just don't embarrass yourself. I got this. I kept muttering to myself while I walked to the front of the class. I took a breath and looked at the class.

"Hi, my name is Roxanne Levisay. I live like three cities away on a beach with my dad. I've been doing rhythmic gymnastics since I was four and-" I was interrupted. "You don't look like you do rhythmic gymnastics," It was Stella. I smiled," What do you mean?" "I mean- just, well your overall physique doesn't look like you're flexible at all." the class giggled lightly. I twisted my shoulder all the way around from the front of my body to my back, and back to the front. Murmurs went through the class.

"That sickening"

"Disgusting"

"I'm horrified and intrigued"

I giggled and sat down. "Well that was certainly entertaining and I assume you'll be trying out for our school team." I nodded my head," Yes ma'am." She smiled at me."I'm sure you'll make it on the team." I smiled back at her, "Thank you."

The rest of the class went off without a hitch. Everyone introduced themselves and I tried to remember everyone's names. Just as the last person finished introducing themself, the bell rang. I grabbed my bag and made my way out of the classroom. The first class of the year and I didn't screw it up. Point for me. I smiled to myself and went to go find Flora.

Sorry I've been gone for almost 2 months. I hope y'all enjoy this. Till next time (which hopefully will be later this week)
