Dawn chapter! I didn't really do a character description for her now just in case someone reading wanted her to look like her book or Netflix counterpart. Jeff is here but I figured that one day they might introduce him into the show. Some mentions of California Diaries since I mentioned Gracie. Maybe both Jeff and Gracie would be adopted in the show? I don't mention Carol so you can imagine them however you want.

Enjoy and please review!

Dawn helped make sure that the guest bedroom was for sure cleaned out. Happily, she sighed and put a line on the list and walked out of the calm room and into chaos. Well, the chaos that could only be caused by moving cross country.

The furniture was being hauled out into a moving van. Boxes were stacked on top of each other. Anything marked fragile was difficult to place. Did it go in the front or the back? Put in a car that they'd be renting anyway?

"Dawn help," said Jeff.

"Please," said Jordan throwing his arms out gesturing to everything.

"Oh calm down you two," said Stephanie rolling her eyes and making sure her personal bag was packed. Dawn just shook her head looking at both boys amused. It was going to be hard not to have Jordan and Stephanie down the street. Then again Jeff was going to be gone for about a month to help them out.

Dawn sighed and put down her list and just smiled at them.

"Alright I'm ready to help although there's not much. I made sure that the bedrooms are empty," she said promptly. "Then the kitchen. I think the remaining area has to be the living and dining room."

She paused and gave them a small smile.

"Yes!" shouted Jeff. "And then on a plane to New York City. I can't wait to see this fabulous new apartment you guys got."

From the comer of her eye she watched them talk a mile a minute about their new life they were going to build. The movers taking more and more boxes from the living room and dining room. She flipped her long braided hair and sighed.

"You know I'm really going to miss you guys," said Dawn after a minute. "I mean Stephie, you've been one of my favorite baby-sitting charges. Jordan you're like another brother to me."

That was true since Jordan got into UCLA with Jeff the two have been as thick as thieves. Even joining the same fraternity at school. She even got them double dates for her stepmother's friend's wedding. It was an odd situation, but everything worked out the same. Heck they even got married around the same time. Except Jeff's spouse was currently on a business trip for two weeks.

Stephie, was another matter, she used to be this shy little girl with asthma that reminded her a lot of her stepsister Mary Anne. They even bonded when she visited a long time ago. Dawn sighed and remembered being thirteen inviting all her friends out to California. She wondered what the others were doing. It had been awhile since she heard from them. Besides Mary Anne she only ever really talked to Kristy and Mallory from time to time.

"Are you going to miss me?" asked Jeff with a cheeky look on his face.

"You'll be back by the end of the month," said Dawn scoffing a little and messed up his hair grinning. "But I'll miss you while you're gone. Maybe Gracie and I will hang out a lot when I get off work."

Dawn smiled at the thought of her half sister who was in class right now. Since there was about 14 years between them, it would be interesting to see the generational differences. Someone's phone went off as she snapped out of her thoughts.

"That's my OB," said Stephanie. "She's going to send me an e-mail saying that I can travel in my seventh month. Give me a couple of minutes okay?"

Dawn just looked sad that she wouldn't be able to see the new baby. Then gestured for Jeff to follow her while Jordan checked on Maria, his two-year-old daughter. Making sure that they were alone Dawn produced a present that she had hidden out of sight.

Jeff nodded and slyly took the gift from her and hid it in his suitcase nearby. His sunglasses slide down to the top of his nose. One of the two would totally find it if it was in his carry on. He had looked from side to side and kept anyone from seeing.

"You know that you're not in Men in Black," teased Dawn but looked over her shoulder just in case.

"Hey let me have my fun."

Without thinking of it, she hugged Jeff and he hugged her back out of surprise. Despite being 34, she would miss her brother even if he was going to be back.

"Alright have your fun. Just to let you know I put an extra snack in your carry on and an extra set of boxers and a t-shirt just in case your luggage gets lost." Dawn ran a check list down her mind and added one more thing, "and there's a letter to Stephanie and Jordan from me in there too. It's a surprise and part of the housewarming gift that they should open at the same time."

"Dawn, cool it," said Jeff. "Besides I'm going to miss them too."

Looking at her phone Dawn slide in the back pocket of her jean shorts. She was proud to say that she never lost her "California Casual" style that her friends at dubbed. She had on a slouchy white tee with a light blue button-down blouse that stopped at her elbow. Her shorts hit mid-thigh. A pair of classic white keds on her feet.

"Hey guys the moving truck is going to leave," said Jordan. "And you're our ride to the airport."

Smoothing her hair, Dawn headed to her car and clicked it to let everyone in. Stephanie had said goodbye to her father earlier this morning before he had to go to work. He would have called off, but she told him not to worry that she would call him.

"Hey, did you guys hear what the duck said to the bartender?" asked Jeff cracking a joke.

"Nope can't listen to that," said Stephanie laughing.

Jordan laughed at the answer before they were just outside of the doors. Since she couldn't walk them to the terminal Dawn just waved and paused where they dropped off their luggage. In Jordan's arms Maria cooed and reached out to play with the toy attached to the baby carrier.

"Just remember to invite us to your weddings when you get married. And Gracie's college graduation," said Jordan.

"We'll invite you when Maria starts kindergarten and I'll be sure to visit whenever I have to go to the studio," said Stephanie who worked in special effects. "I'm going to miss you."

Dawn threw her arms around them and hugged all three of them.

"Bye Stephie, bye Jordan," she said kissing her brothers head even though it embarrassed him.

They were off and Dawn sighed knowing that she had to drive home and find Gracie and her dad before going to her apartment. The one great thing about living alone meant that she could make as many plans as she wanted spur of the moment.

Plus, she knew Mary Anne would love getting that box she found when checking around the house for stuff to send out. Hurrying back to her car she had some stops to make before dinner time.

A ping went off on her phone from her dad. Sunshine, we have three cheese mac and cheese for dinner if you want to come over.

Scrolling down her contacts list she found Gracie's number and called her next. Then Sunny with her daughter, it was shopping time. She was going to considerably brighten her mood.
