Now the Abby chapter! Like Jessi she was really defined by her love of soccer so it was hard for me not to write her playing soccer or being involved with the game. This does have a T rating since Abby does mention drinking in this chapter (not a lot mind you, but I'm throwing this up just in case!). See the bottom for a special note.
Abby Stevenson took in the smell of pub food, alcohol, and victory. Well victory didn't have a smell, but the anticipation sure filled the room. Her girls, her team, and had saved her a seat everyone talking about their last game.
"That was the best score," said her friend Brittney recounting her last save in the last play.
"You did amazing," gushed another teammate, Sophia, and took a long sip of her long island iced tea. It was kind of funny that she had one of those herself and she was from Long Island, New York. Even though now she was in Europe living their full time. Well, she called England her home now.
Abby laughed to herself a bit and then as if on instinct she went and excused herself. Her cell phone out and ready she picked up at the first sign of Aretha Franklin spelling out "R" in respect. Which was currently now her cell phone ringtone. She knew it had to be her sister calling to check in on her.
Sure, enough as she glanced down she saw Anna light up on her phone. It was that twin gut instinct she swore. Straightening herself out and heading out the front. Her teammates waved to her come back when she was done. They were going to have to prep for the next game coming up.
Ahh yes, Abby sure made a name for herself in the soccer world. She had gotten a scholarship at a university in Europe where she doubled in athletic training and journalism. That way she could at least be up on the latest news and be able to keep in shape. Nobody could ever say she was not dedicated. It was a good fallback plan if she wasn't picked up for a professional team. Which she thankfully did.
She turned a corner and found a local park and sat back to relax.
"Hey Anna," she said. "How's your trip?"
On the other line Anna just smiled even though she couldn't see her. "Pretty good, Ireland is beautiful and I think I might pick up the harp next."
Abby laughed a little at the mental image of Anna trying to back on of those back in her suitcase. "Hey do you plan on visiting?" she asked. "We could make a trip somewhere; Europe is easy to get around. For the most part anyway."
"That would be fun," said Anna. "Where haven't you gone?"
Abby just smiled herself at that thinking of her travels and where she had gone before. She even lived in Spain, Israel, and India for a bit.
"Let's say we meet up somewhere in Germany for the fun of it," she said. "How was Shannon's wedding?"
"Pretty good. I picked up a gift for the kids when I was in England."
Anna had two children with her husband, a daughter named Elsie after their grandmother. Then a son named Uriah. They talked a little bit long planning on where they were going to meet next. Content with her conversation Abby slide back into the pub. In her spot a drink was waiting for her.
Suspicious she looked at her teammates wondering who got it for her. Due to her keeping in shape she could only have a drink or two at max. Sophia winked at her and gestured to the drink.
"It looks like you have an admirer," she said tossing her red hair over her shoulder.
She glanced around hoping to find the culprit but no such luck. Then she grinned at Sophia and took a sip of it making sure it was okay. It kind of tasted like soda with a fizzy topping but she could taste just how strong it was. She took another sip and relaxed sitting back in her chair.
Around her the others were all gossiping about someone or something. A girl named Lauren and Michaelina had a deck of cards out playing go fish for some reason. That didn't matter though, Abby loved her team and wouldn't trade them for the world.
She swirled the drink in her hand and turned to look at Sophia.
"So who got me the drink?" she asked curious to know if she had seen the guy.
"He was pretty cute but had to leave when he didn't see you come back after five minutes. I guess that was Anna?"
"Yep, she's doing good and we're going to meet in Germany once we get there. She'll fly back to Stoneybrook next week so it's time we get to spend together. So, did you tell the guy I wouldn't be interested?"
Sophia giggled and shook her head. "I didn't have the heart but sounded like he wasn't from around here so probably no such luck."
Abby just shrugged and took another long drink. It was a free drink to her. Plus, she didn't have to explain that she was aromantic to a random guy. It was better that she heard from her sister anyway. She didn't know when she was going to be in Stoneybrook, so it was better that they met now. At least she knew that she could always find Anna good ol' Bradford Court when she was home.
Thinking about Stoneybrook, she swirled her drink around again. Maybe she should make a visit. She knew Kristy still lived there. They kept in contact for a long time and recently reconnected when she was back in town. She was going to have to do to again soon.
She took another drink and turned her attention to making new plays. They needed to get back on the field tomorrow morning.
Special Authors Note: I'm wondering if anyone would like to see this continued with some of the clients and other people? Just some of the more popular ones like Jamie, The Barrett's, Janine, Sam, etc. I already have ideas for Janine and Sam. If you are just leave me a comment either way I'll definitely be reading them. Also leave some people you might want to see, I'll do what I can. If not, then this is the final chapter and I hope everyone enjoyed reading!
