Author's Note: Starting up the regular clients, Jordan Pike! I'm going to finish the plot I had with him from Dawn's chapter here. The other side of Dawn's chapter – getting to New York with Jeff, Adam, and his family, they just aren't organized like Dawn is. I just realized that I had a lot of people who live in NYC lol (Mallory, Claudia, Stacey, Karen, then Jessi is there temporarily) so Jordan will be the last of them. I've been pretty good about not describing people that much, but Stephie being latina or half latina intrigued me so I went with it.
As always let me know if you have a client you want to see in particular since I'm not covering all of them (like the DeWitt kids or the Perkins girls).
Please enjoy and let me know what you think!
Jordan Pike watched as the streets of New York bustled around him from the uber car. Next to him the driver was talking a mile a minute about the stuff that they could do in the city. Instead of listening, his mind whirling at the promotion. He was going to in charge of this branch of his company. The top dog and everyone would have to listen to him. It was kind of a dream come true. They were even moving to one of the most expensive neighborhoods in New York.
He glanced around as the west side came into view. In the back-seat Jeff, Stephie, and Maria were snoozing from the plane ride. They passed what looked like the Lincoln Center from the photos. They were going to be near some of the most famous buildings in the world.
It was also one of the first places that's going to be ravaged by zombies or attacked by aliens, he thought with a shrug.
Then they rounded a corner to see the movers already there and unloading. Oh good, he thought, this was the fun part. His sarcastic nature would have gotten him a high five from Jeff if he was awake.
"Hey guys we're here," he said waking up everyone in the backseat.
Wearily the girls got out first with Jeff following behind. Not only that but they had a family almost identical face waiting for them at the door. Adam Pike was grinning from ear to ear reminding the movers which apartment it was.
"Pike brothers reunite! Now all we need is Byron and the triplet circle will be complete," said Adam when he saw them.
They did their brother handshake which amused Stephie to no end. Adam had taken his niece out of her arms and spun her around.
"Where is everyone else?" asked Jordan referring to at least Mallory, Byron, and Margo who either lived in New York or Stoneybrook nearby to help him move in. He was going to miss living near Claire who was still in LA, even though she was super busy with her filmmaking career.
"Sea City."
"Are you kidding me?"
Of course, everyone had to be on vacation.
"Hey, my landlord though I was nuts to go from South Carolina to help you move to New York, but they can't change around their plans last minute."
Great, that meant that it was just the four of them to move everything together. That wouldn't be too bad. Although with his family they would have been done a lot sooner. Nevertheless, Jordan Pike took the reigns and stepped inside their rather spacious apartment.
He was rather pleased with himself seeing the view of central park from their living room window.
"I'm like the fourth Pike to move up in the world."
"Move up?" teased Stephie after looking around herself.
"Make like six figures. Byron, Nicky, Claire and now me."
He was pretty proud of himself that he worked just as hard to there too. His face fell slightly when he realized that the movers had gotten the boxes in the wrong rooms. The box marked linens in the kitchen and their couch was backward. Oh great, he thought, ready to tell them otherwise to learn that they all outside.
Not only that but Maria had wet herself in Adam's arms. The changing table nowhere to be seen but the kitchen counter relatively cleaned off.
"Oh, I'll change her, I like changing diapers," said Jordan sighing and looked around. "They didn't put the nursery in the room it's supposed to be in."
"Should we try moving it?" asked Jeff.
"Okay, ask Stephie she might have changed her mind. I'll have to do it on the dining room table." Jeff looked horrified at this idea. "We'll sanitize it later."
"We better sanitize it!" said Jeff looking around for a towel or something. "I'm not eating off a poop filled table."
"She wet herself," reminded Adam who was running his arms underneath the kitchen sink desperately scrubbing as if he had cooties.
And this was the reason why neither had children, he thought, shaking his head. Stephie looked around bewildered coming from the living room area. Finally, she caught his eye and walked over with an irked look on her face.
"Jordan our bedroom furniture…"
"Is in the wrong room I know; the movers got the rooms mixed up. Listen I gotta change Maria if you want you can yell at them in Spanish."
Stephie looked intrigued at the idea, it looked like none of them would know what she was saying. Or at least she hoped and went off to find them. Then went to search for the diaper bag and securely put a new one on.
Then he heard a shout from the living room attracting both him and Stephie, looking for the source of the noise. Jeff and Adam were holding both ends of their couch ready to turn it around. Stephie put a hand over her mouth trying not to laugh. Jordan just watched his best friend and brother lift it.
"Pivot," said Jeff already turning the couch. "Pivot, pivot!"
"I am pivoting," spat Adam unable to hold the end or his laughter.
Jordan and Stephie laughing at the ridiculous angle of the couch. Maria clapping along, giggling herself. The boys had pushed and pulled until it was the correct angle and facing near where the TV was going to go. Neither man had let go with Jeff finally just dropping his end.
"Great Friends skit guys," teased Jordan going over to them, still holding Maria.
"What on earth?" asked one of the movers coming in with a box. Two behind them carrying more boxes. They had unceremoniously put them down at the same time and looked surprised at the moved couch. Stephie had ran over to one of the guys ready to tell them were the boxes were going to go, so they knew where everything was.
"We helped you out," said Adam huffing along slightly. "We got it."
"Sure, leave to the professional guys," said the mover nearly knocking over Jeff in the process, but he had dodged it. "The truck is empty and we're going to put the boxes in the right rooms now."
Thank goodness, although he couldn't just understand why they didn't put them in the original rooms in the first place. The moving man looked from Jordan to Adam and then back again. He looked like he was going to say something, but they caught on quickly.
"We're triplets actually," said Jordan brightly.
The man shook his head smiling and moved some more of their stuff. The movers finished putting everything in the right rooms and they were given a nice tip from him. That just meant unpacking everything, putting Maria down for a nap, and ordering dinner for the day. It was about eight by now.
Slowly he and Jeff started to unpack some of the heavier things making jokes along the way. Adam had turned on some music softly and Stephie searched for a local pizza place. It was the only thing they could get that would appease everyone. Since Jeff was a vegetarian there was one pizza with mushrooms and pineapple. Then the other with sausage and bacon on the other.
"Ugh, I wish Dawn was here, she was always super organized," said Jeff trying to find one end of a the tablecloth for the dining room table.
"I miss California already," said Stephie putting away glasses. Her eyes misting over slightly. She did leave her dad behind after all. They've been staying with Stephie's father since his heart attack – four years ago. Now she had moved away.
"I know what'll cheer everyone up," said Jeff producing a bag. "A present from my dear sister."
Jordan took the bag and took the first thing out. First a card with a gift card to Amazon in and then… Jordan broke into laughter and showed Stephie the book.
Jeff's off the wall, Krazy, Explode Your Sides Sense of Humor (a.k.a, The Jeff Schafer Book of Funniest Jokes Ever Told, Volume One) was written on the cover.
"Hey that's the book of jokes that I tried to make when I was 10, I can't believe that Dawn got it printed."
He opened the book to see a note printed on the hard cover. Dawn had written a letter saying that whenever they flipped through this they thought of California and everyone out there. She also had a few pictures printed in the last couple of pages.
"That was beautiful," said Stephie.
"I like it. Come on let's finish unpacking more boxes until the pizza comes."
With that they were off to start another chapter in that book.
