Author's Note: To be honest we don't know a lot about the Kuhn kids, but Jake got two books with what happens to him (Kristy and the Missing Child and Mary Anne Breaks the Rules). So I figured why not? I don't think he turns up much in fanfiction so just to be different I'm going to include him! Also this is going to name drop a lot of names from canon like Jeremy Rudolph, Trevor Sandbourne, lets see how many you can point out.

Happy reading!

The Stoneybrook Panthers was one of the two little leagues in Stoneybrook, Connecticut. Jacob, or rather Jake, Kuhn skimmed through his sign-up sheet. Since the season was almost over, he had an idea. A rather simple one, but an idea, nevertheless. What if his team paired up with some younger kids that wished to play tee ball next year? Or at least wanted to try something new. So, a list of kids four, five- and six-year old's interested was on the signup sheet.

He was short two players but that was a pretty good turnout. Maybe the other little league team had too many kids that showed up.

"Hey Jake," said the voice of Logan Bruno calling to him.

Blinking, his brown eyes met his brother in laws. Next to him was his wife Grace and his two kids coming in first the trial day. His nephew, Aiden, was on the time. His niece Harper was a cheerleader with her friend Molly.

"Hey guys," said Jake waving. "Ready to play today Aiden?"

"Yea," he said not looking at him but around for his friends.

When he didn't see them coming in after them, he grabbed a water bottle from the cooler they brought. Grace just sat down with her tablet and a book just in case. She wasn't much of a sports fan but supported her family and watched the games over practice. Jake just shook his head as Logan sat down with her to play a game together while they waited. Logan was his assistant coach and would be waiting for a little bit too.

Next was the rest of Harper's friends, Molly Patterson and Wendy Gray. Followed by the rest of his team ranging from Atticus Retlin to Anthony Taylor. It wasn't a rag tag team of just anybody like the Krushers were, but they were all unique players.

Just thinking of the Krushers made him smile. That was how Matt Braddock started out and now he was one of the best hitters on the Red Sox's. Part of him wished that he could create a team like that, but Little League was something that he had volunteered to do.

"Aiden!" shouted Atticus Retlin looking for his friend.

Then the kids with the four, five, and six-year-olds joined in next. Jake could see Byron Pike being firm with his son to get along with the other kids and to play by the rules and to have fun. Margo Barrett also repeating rules and such. It was a little weird to see that they were the opposite of their parents in terms of child rearing both not as laissez-faire.

"Jake," said his wife, Kerry Bruno, running up to him. "You forgot your lunch."

"Thanks," he said sitting it down next to the equipment. "Care to stick around and watch us play?"

"Erm, no thanks," she said rolling his eyes and punched his arm playfully. "I got enough of sports growing up with Logan and my dad. We can meet up for dinner once you're done with your practice. Does hotdogs, coleslaw, and other baseball meals fit the bill?"

Now it was his turn to roll his eyes at the obvious "baseball" meal that his mother made for him after team sports in high school. Kerry kissed him softly and waved before heading back to their car. Their six year old twins, Allison and Angela, were heading off to the last week of summer camp the school was hosting, with classes starting next week. Then she went grocery shopping for the next two weeks. Alright, with that settled he turned to his team and the new kids.

Jake turned his attention to his team. A bunch of smiling faces greeted him including his neighbor's children. After a short speech reminding everyone why they were there and meeting each other, they played ball. First the basics and then bunting and all that good stuff. A lot of slowing things down good ol' tee ball equipment pulled out for those ready to try.

He couldn't help but look at the parents in the stands wondering how they were feeling. Or even if he knew any of them besides the Barrett and Pike families. He waved over to Margo who had an infant in a carrier. She just had another girl and was proudly watching the team with her. Who knows maybe she would be the next Matt Braddock.

"Aubrey's pretty good," said Logan, his assistant coach gesturing to Aubrey Torres catching the balls tossed gently to her. The four-year-old had a good eye for the game and hitting it off the tee.

"Yea she'd be great, I'll recommend her to the coaches in Stoneybrook. Hey what about moving Caden Chow in from right field? He's doing pretty good with those pitches," he said and Logan nodded. Jake turned his attention to the cheers coming from the side.

Harper was standing there with her friend Molly and cheering for them. Hmm, usually they came to games, but Grace and Logan probably just wanted to get all the kids out of the house. Curiously he watched as a few siblings were watching them and learning. Hey, it was like they had a cheerleading camp for the next season already. Brooke Rudolph had joined them and doing all kinds of gymnastics moves.

"Looking good over here girls," he said. "You think that you could take on a few more people?"

"Sure, Uncle Jake," said Harper thrilled to have more people join in. More people joined hem as he exited the group and went to Logan and Grace in the stands.

"I'm coming to help," said Grace joining them.

Apparently, she knew what she was doing when she joined them. Didn't Logan say that she was a cheerleader in high school? Too bad the two didn't date in high school, they would have been one of those high school sweethearts. Jake had heard that they didn't start dating until college at Stoneybrook University where they had went (well Grace transferred to after her father's heart attack).

"Teams doing great," said Logan. "Hey maybe once they get to high school I'll have a team that would rival the professionals."

"We'll see maybe everyone would be recruited to be pros themselves."

Then he turned and looked at his team, they were doing such a great job. Sure, they didn't win this season against the other team, but it was close. They had a strong team and he was glad that Logan was able to help him. He saw Blake Sandbourne make an excellent pitch and Ella King had caught it. Hmm, maybe he had to move them around some. The younger kids were looking up at their mentors with a stars in their eyes learning from them.

Jake got out his notebook and adjusted some plans. With a pep in his step he joined in the team with some new practice moves for them.
