Chapter One: This Is My Idea

Once upon a time, there was a king named Mitchell, who ruled a huge and mighty kingdom. Although his reign was peaceful, he was sad for he was growing old and had no child to inherit the throne. Then, one day, his wish was granted.

Inside the hallway that was upstairs, where everything was in fine decoration, with chandeliers made of pure gold, and the balcony had a tall door that reached the roof, King Mitchell, who wore an emerald green cape with fine white outfit, with a big golden crown with shiny red rubies on that was on his brownish-grey hair, was pacing back and forth sadly as he waited for any news to arrive. He did want a child to bring joy, but he mainly wanted one so he or she could rule his kingdom once he either retired or passed away.

After waiting and waiting for any news, a maid appeared with a newborn baby that was wrapped in a soft, warm pink blanket, implying that King Mitchell had a baby girl. There, the maid gave the baby princess to the king as he grabbed his newborn child gently. He embraced his daughter as he loved her very much, and he knew that someday, she would be queen.

There, he carried his baby to the balcony as he announced to everyone in the kingdom that a princess was born. Everyone cheered as some of the villagers threw their hats to show that they were delighted to receive exciting news from their king. There, King Mitchell announced the newborn princess's name was Emily.

Months passed and all kings and queens came from every neighbouring kingdom to offer their gifts to the newborn child. Among them was the widow Lillian and her young daughter, Princess Caitlin.

When Queen Lillian entered with a velvet reddish magenta dress with a small, delicate crown with a single diamond on the top that sat on her greyish magenta hair, entered with her two-year-old daughter, who had a rich magenta short hair that matched her eye colour, and magenta outfit that most people would see from a prince. Once they were inside, King Mitchell and Queen Lillian greeted each other like royalty as the queen told her child to give a gift to the newborn princess.

The two-year-old obeyed as she ran to the throne chairs, where a fine emerald green crib that was covered with golden ribbons was. When she got to the crib, she peeped her tiny head to see the baby princess. There, inside the crib, was a baby with fair skin, emerald green eyes, and chestnut brown hair. The baby was the girl and began to coo happily. The young girl smiled back as she presented the gift to the princess. The gift she received was a golden heart necklace with a swan imprinted in the centre of the heart. The baby giggled from getting that don't, despite not knowing what a necklace was.

As King Mitchell and Queen Lillian watched their interaction, they both happened to have the same idea. They both thought that Caitlin and Emily would be brought together each Summer in hopes that they would fall in love and that their kingdoms would be in a union. They both looked at each other with delight as they knew that they both have the same idea for the princesses.

However, what was unknown to all was another plan, that of the evil enchanter, Diesel. Emily's birth was not a problem to him, for he was preparing to take King Mitchell's kingdom using the Forbidden Arts. So, Diesel put his hood on as he left the castle, preparing to take King Mitchell's kingdom.

Inside a chamber room where all sorts of potions and dark magic ingredients are placed on shelves neatly, Diesel was standing by the fireplace, where red, green, and blue smoke came out from cauldrons that were hanging above from the fire. While he was performing his spell, his assistant named Mavis, was standing there in awe to see her master doing his wicked plan. While Diesel was casting a spell, he summoned an image of King Mitchell holding his baby princess, and once he was done, he began his spell, which showed a picture of a red dragon. Diesel grinned evilly as he knew he would attack the king by dawn.

However, before Diesel's spell was completed, King Mitchell's royal guards attacked him, as Diesel's dark powers were plunged into darkness. Some of the guards destroyed all the ingredients and the potion, while four guards cornered Diesel and his assistant. Diesel growled as he refused to surrender while Mavis shook in fear as she knew that their worst punishment would be death. Despite the villagers wanting Diesel to be executed for his evil crime, the enchanter was only banished.

In the forest, King Mitchell was on his horse with eight royal guards that were holding a bow, ready to aim at the enchanter if he made any actions. As the king witnessed Diesel's handcuffs being unlocked by two of King Mitchell's royal guards. Once he was released, he pushed the guards away violently as he growled aggressively. After that, he looked at the king with his black onyx eyes with pure resentment as he began to make a threat, "I'm not finished with you yet, Mitchell! Someday I'll get my power back! And when I do, everything you own, everything you love! Will belong to me!"

When he finished his words, King Mitchell pointed his index finger to the forest as he glared at the enchanter. With that, Diesel knew what he meant, and without resistance, he listened to the king's order as he stormed off into the deep dark forest, while putting his hood back on.

After the enchanter was banished, many villagers still feared that King Mitchell was being too kind. However, as time flew by, the threat was forgotten and all hopes turned to that not-too-distant Summer when Caitlin and Emily would meet.

Six years flew by, and the two princesses were preparing to meet each other for their first time since the birth of Princess Emily as it was the beginning of Summer. The two young girls didn't understand why this was happening, but they knew they must do their duties and please their parents, despite their young age.

At the top of the castle balcony gate tower, a small young man, who was wearing a green messenger outfit with a hat that had a yellow feather attached to it, giggled in delight as he could that not too far, King Mitchell, his daughter, and several guards were on their way to greet Queen Lillian and Princess Caitlin. As he witnessed it, he cried in excitement, "Hehehe! Oh, here they come!"

With that, he grabbed around as he twirled around like a ballerina. He just couldn't contain his excitement that he climbed on the castle's tower roof. While he was dancing merrily, King Mitchell was on his horse with Princess Emily, who wore an emerald green dress with an emerald green headpiece that had her chestnut brush hair down. As the king rode his horse, he halted his guards as the horse neigh loudly. When the guards stopped their track, the king turned the horse's direction to the castle's gate.

When the small young man stopped his dance, he slid down the roof as he rushed to the balcony. There was a trumpet with a magenta banner on it with three golden symbols of French lilies that were attached to the balcony's handle. Once he got to his trumpet, he proceeded to blow the trumpet, but instead of making a noise, it produced no sound as the young man gasped for air. He couldn't get it. What made the trumpet not make any noises. When he tried again, he blew all his might, but to his shock, a bird with a nest flew out from the trumpet as the bird cried for dear life.

Back with the king and his daughter, they finally stopped at their destination as in right in front of them was Queen Lillian with her daughter, who wore a magenta outfit with a golden cape, making her look more like a prince than a princess as it was her style. There, King Mitchell gave them a warm smile as he began to greet them right away, "Dear Lilian. You look lovely as usual…"

However, before he could finish his sentence, a best landed on the queen's head, which she gasped in shock along with the king while the two princesses chuckled at this. When Queen Lillian saw the bird's nest on her head, she looked at the balcony as she gave a small frown to the young man, to which the young man gasped in horror as he hid for cover as he didn't want to get into trouble.

Thankfully, the queen wasn't that upset as the mother bird went to collect her best that contained three small eggs that were all unharmed. She laughed it off as she chuckled, "Oh! A nest!"

After the bird left with her nest, King Mitchell smiled again as he noticed a young girl next to her mother. He chuckled as he said, "And who might this fine young lady be? Young Princess Caitlin, no doubt."

With that, he gave a playful wink to Queen Lillian as she then welcomed the king and his child warmly as she bowed to them, "Welcome to our fair kingdom, King Mitchell."

Then, King Mitchell gently grabbed his daughter as she placed her on the ground as he hopped off his horse. The princess felt shy as she looked at the queen with pure shyness while she had her hands behind her back. Queen Lillian noticed her reaction and then added, "And to you too, young princess."

King Mitchell smiled at his daughter as he proceeded to push her gently, to get her to greet Queen Lillian's child. While he did that, the queen chuckled as she placed her hand on her daughter's shoulder, trying to get her to greet Princess Emily, "Go on, Caitlin. Dear, come on."

However, Caitlin refused to cooperate as she made a pouty face as she was annoyed. As her mother tried to get her to talk to Emily, she looked at her mother as she whined quietly, "Mother!"

Queen Lillian gave her a disapproving look as she replied in a harsh whisper, "Caitlin!"

There, Caitlin and Emily had no choice but to go and greet each other. Emily remained on her dignity side while Caitlin began to grumble as she tried to avoid any eye contact, "Hello, Princess Emily. I'm very pleased to meet you."

After that, Emily did a courtesy to Caitlin as she replied kindly, "Please to meet you too, Princess Caitlin."

However, when Emily looked up, she saw that Caitlin ran off to her mother as she didn't want to interact with her anymore, but when she got to her mother, Queen Lillian told her to go back to Emily as she pointed at Emily. Caitlin groaned in annoyance as she stormed back to Emily.

Once she went back to Caitlin, she knew what she had to do next, but she felt both hesitant and disgusted with that. So, she grabbed Emily's left hand as she looked at the hand in awkwardness. Whoever, Emily then gave her an angry look as her eyes were narrowed. There, Caitlin managed to muster up her courage and kissed Emily's hand, to which she poked her tongue as she got grossed out. There, Caitlin wiped her lips as she looked at Emily with a big frown.

Caitlin and Emily just couldn't believe that they are stuck together for the whole Summer as they immediately despise each other. Caitlin thought Emily was too girlish and that she thought that she couldn't fight. However, when Emily wiped her hand on her dress, she raised her first as she gave her an aggressive look.

Caitlin was surprised by her action, to which Emily didn't stand down. However, when princesses want to go back to their parents, they lectured them as they told them to go back to each other. This wasn't their idea and they both wished they had chickenpox, so they don't have to see each other.

Inside the hallway of Queen Lillian's castle, King Mitchell and Queen Lillian couldn't stop talking about how their idea was great, and they thought that their children were getting along quite nicely. What they didn't know was that while they were discussing all about Princess Caitlin and Princess Emily's marriage, Emily made Caitlin tripped over from the stairs as they both wrestled with each other violently. They were screaming, and when Caitlin pulled Emily's hair, the parents then realised the situation and separated the two, despite the struggle. Queen Lillian tried to laugh it off by saying that their playtime went a bit too tough.

Five years went by and nothing changed with the relationship between Caitlin and Emily as they still hated each other with a passion. King Mitchell told her daughter to not dawdle as it was time for her to see Caitlin once again. Emily was now wearing an emerald shirt and pants that made her look like a prince as she wore two braids. When she heard that her father wanted her to come down, she whined by saying that she doesn't want to get seasick again, but it was also because she didn't want to see Caitlin at all.

Back at Queen Lillian's castle, inside of Caitlin's bedroom, the queen entered to inform her daughter that Emily was on her way, but to her horror, she saw Caitlin shoot an arrow at a drawing of Emily. When she told Caitlin off, she responded to her mother that if she has to kiss Emily's hand again, she's going to feel sick. The queen didn't listen to her and she dragged her out of the room, to which Caitlin got moody.

With that, Emily and Caitlin had no choice but to interact with one another as usual. Of course, the two got into many fights, and it didn't help that when Emily arrived, Caitlin along with her best friend, Henry, slingshot a tomato at her, to which Emily growled at them angrily while the two friends laughed at her. What's more, Emily was still a kid while Caitlin was now a teenager, which means more conflict than ever.

Caitlin and Henry always tried to lose Emily while Emily wanted to be cool just like them. However, Emily always ended up being excluded from them. There was even a time when Caitlin and Henry climbed up a ladder to a treehouse and before Emily could get there, they pulled up a ladder so she couldn't get into the treehouse. When Emily asked why she couldn't join, Caitlin and Henry replied that it was only for teenagers. When Emily complained about how unfair they were, they didn't care.

However, when Emily saw a loose plank that held the treehouse, she kicked it hard, which made the treehouse collapse. As a result, Emily, Caitlin, and Henry were seriously injured from the impact. Their parents were ashamed of their actions and it was time for Emily and her father to leave, she was still on her wooden cane crutch as she whined that this wasn't her idea. Caitlin and Henry agreed as Caitlin had her arm bandaged up while Henry was on his leg cast. Once King Mitchell and his daughter were out of sight, Queen Lillian stopped waving at them and scolded the two naughty teenagers, causing them to yell in fear.

While the girls still despised each other, the villagers were all excited as they couldn't what for the day of their marriage. They knew that having kingdoms in one will make the reign last longer. Plus, they knew that having new rulers was one of the most special occasions to celebrate. So, they all worked hard to make things better for the kingdoms and their future queens. However, things would change for the two princesses within years later.
