4 December, 4th gift:
It became an automaton. Marinette had settled her alarm clock 15 minutes earlier than usual, so she could take a moment to open the present of the day without taking the risk of arriving late for college.
The package she was holding was rectangular, about fifty centimeters long but narrow; less than 10 centimeters wide. The package was white with silver snowflakes.
She carefully removed the paper and discovered an elegant pale pink velvet box, which she delicately opened. Inside was a magnificent and unique Rose without thorns, of soft pink color that had been previously frozen in glycerin to be preserved.
Her heart leapt into her chest, Marinette was a rather cultured young woman and she knew perfectly the meaning of a rose offered without her thorns.
A Rose without thorns, for a stroke of lightning.
She struggled for a few seconds to tame the tremors in her hand before grabbing one of the two small cards that accompanied the flower.
"Hold me close and hold me fast The magic spell you cast This is la vie en rose"
Edith Piaf: you know your classics, Chat Noir, she thought
A gentle smile illuminated the young woman's face as she grabbed the second card.
"A pink rose for my sweet partner: symbol of my sincere affection and my unfailing faithfulness. Keep it precious, to remind you that I will always be there for you whatever happens, in your good times, as in your bad times, you will always be able to count on my presence and my loyalty. Your devoted and loving partner,
Chat Noir."
- Chat Noir is such a good and sincere boy... breathed, Tikki with adoration and wonder.
-You're right Tikki, a wonderful boy full of surprises, added Marinette with admiration.
-Oh if you knew Marinette...replied the little kwami with malice.
-A certain little red companion would'nt be in the confidence of the other gifts that await me?
-I don't know, what do you think?
-I think that you too are full of surprises, Tikki, replied Marinette softly, while grabbing her to tighten her cheek.
to be continued...
