December 14th, gift number 14 :

Marinette quickly found the gift bearing the number 14.

There were now 13 fewer packages in her room, so she had been able to collect the last remaining packages carefully, and more discreetly, beside her meridian.

The small gift was made of a white packaging with glitter stars of different colors. Methodically, she tore the paper to discover under, two red leather agenda.

One dated from this year and the second from the previous year.

Intrigued, she first opened the oldest agenda.

What she found there left her speechless.

All the times she and Chat Noir had fought together were listed there with a few words of explanation on the pages concerned and dated.

Their first akuma, Stone Heart, and all those who had followed since then, except Style Queen... she remembered perfectly this time when Plagg saved her because Chat Noir could not transform.

Really, without the help of her partner, she could not fight effectively, without Chat Noir, she would have already failed. They were an inseparable duo, a perfectly coordinated pair, each of them was irreplaceable.

The second agenda was composed in the same way, each of their meeting was referenced there, each date highlighted to the green fluo (of course he had done it on purpose), and each page corresponding to the date included a small note. Chat Noir had not even forgotten to mention their meeting in New York, nor the few nocturnal encounters they had when he had to talk about important things.

In the second diary she also found a red envelope, in which was a little word of the feline hero.

"My Lady, my one and only partner,

I cherish from the depths of my heart every moment spent with you, even if they are synonymous of fights and great responsibilities.

My Lady, I told you once before: my favorite moments are when I'm with you and I'm willing to sacrifice everything just for those few moments spent by your side. I was sincere that day, and I still am. When I'm with you, I feel complete, happy and in my place. Since I met you, I have finally found a purpose, a meaning to my existence.

With you, beautiful moments become beautiful memories. Memories I would cherish until the end of my life. Bad moments and trials become beautiful life lessons. Lessons that brought us even closer.

I couldn't imagine a world in which my amazing partner would not exist : what if there really were one? I would rather endure a thousand sufferings than have to live there without you.

"If you didn't exist, tell me why I would exist?

Your kitty, unable to live without you. "

Chat Noir, concerned about detail, had certainly had the brilliant idea of surfing on the Ladyblog in order to complete the dates to perfection. Marinette found this approach particularly adorable.

She was also impressed by the accuracy with which her partner had listed all their encounters, she wondered if, like her, he remembered accurately each of the akumas of Hawkmoth. Although the answer seemed obvious to her, coming from Chat Noir, nothing could surprise her anymore.

She put the agendas between several books that were displayed on a shelf and finished to prepare to join Alya in the bakery, she had promised her that this morning they would make the way together to go to the college.

-So, when are you going to tell me who's the mysterious and gallant young man who turned your room into Santa Claus's workshop? Questioned Alya enthusiastically.

-Alya! I told you I couldn't tell you anything now.

-But why so many mysteries? Is he famous? Is he a criminal? Is he much older than you? I know him, right?

-Alya, breathe and calm down, you'll have a heart attack if you continue.

-And it will be your fault, she said indignantly. You're really not going to tell me, are you?

-I'm sorry Alya, I need to take stock before I tell anyone about it, because I don't know where this story will lead me with him, said Marinette , bored of having to tell her a half-lie.

Certainly, she did not yet know where this story with Chat Noir would lead her, even if she had an idea of her partner's intentions.

Yes, she was still a little confused by the way their relationship was going.

No, she wasn't closed to a hypothetical relationship with her partner.

But what she really needed to take stock of, was how she was going to be able to reveal to Alya who this mysterious boy was.

How was she going to get out of this predicament?

Inventing the existence of a boy and telling Alya that this story didn't work? No, she didn't like to lie, she didn't want to behave like Lila Rossi, the weight of her secret as a heroine was already a sufficiently unpleasant lie.

Tell him the truth? Impossible, she should reveal her identity.

Tell him that Chat Noir was pinching it for Marinette or dating as civilians? She should first talk to her partner about it before... and then reveal her identity. It was a revelation she had been thinking about recently, but for which she didn't yet feel ready.

Marinette interrupted the thread of her thoughts when Alya and she arrived at the great door of the college, simply promising to tread carefully one foot in front of the other and to live day to day, without thinking of tomorrow.

To be continued…
