Without further adieu, here is chapter 2, I hope it gives you all an extra dose of Arkossy goodness. Feedback is always appreciated

As the door closed, Jaune looked up. Pyrrha really had ran off in a hurry, her meeting with Professor Port must have been important. Finding his missing piece of armour, he raised it in silent triumph above his head before stuffing it in his gear bag. He stood up and scanned around the room, surely that was everything he needed he thought.

"You really are thick" Ren bemoaned at him from the couch, barely bothering to glance up from his scroll, "Nora was right, but I didn't realise just how right until just now".

Hearing her name, Nora opened her eyes lazily. "I was having such a nice dream, what's all the commotion about?" she asked in a slightly groggy voice. "Jaune's being an idiot, and managed to upset Pyrrha again, nothing unusual" Ren replied trying to quiet her back down with a soft head scratch.

"It didn't sound like you were having a nice dream" Jaune countered, trying to change the subject, "something about a syrup shortage and unfair treatment? I think you even vowed retribution at one point."

"Hmmm yeah... Papa's Pancake Haus down in Vale had introduced a one tub of syrup per pancake stack policy" Nora shuddered, "but I helped them to see why that would be bad for business... Now don't change the subject!" her eyes narrowed as they fixed on Jaune "What on earth did you say or do this time Prince Charming?"

As Jaune began to protest his innocence, Ren filled her in on the exchange. Nora's eyes narrowed even further, if Jaune couldn't see her arm reaching for something he'd have thought she was going back to sleep. "You did WHAT!?" Nora exclaimed. Before Jaune had a chance to object, he had to duck as Nora hurtled her copy of 'The world of Remnant' across the room at his head like a missile. "For such a caring friend you really are so insensitive sometimes."

Jaune tried to respond but Nora held up her hand, she was far from finished, he gulped knowing a barrage was still to come. He quickly scanned the table in front of her to see what other missiles might be let fly next.

"What were you thinking talking about seeing Weiss in front of her!? How many times have we had to tell you not to toy with Pyrrha's feelings like that!? Why are boys always like this!" Nora began to stand up but Ren put his hand on her arm, Jaune thought he saw a faint green glow where their skin contacted, and a look of calm began to spread across Nora's face. Looking back at Ren, she smiled apologetically for her outburst, then turned back to Jaune, still glaring dangerously.

Jaune stood there, dumbstruck, his mouth agape. He began sucking in air, mouthing like a fish out of water while his brain kicked into overdrive trying to process what had just happened. It all came crashing down over his head like a wave suddenly. "Oh No..." he managed to stammer.

Ren was shaking his head, Nora sat with her arms crossed. "Oh yes" she said disapprovingly, "Prince Charming strikes out again." It felt like he was being chastised by his parents

"It wasn't like that at all" Jaune pleaded. Nora's gaze didn't soften at all but Ren shifted forward showing he was keen to hear Jaune out. "Professor Oobleck..."

"Doctor Oobleck" Nora corrected him, a smile briefly cracking through her scowl that she quickly suppressed.

"Doctor Oobleck is making me write an essay on the history of Atlas because he's concerned, I'm falling behind in his class" Jaune continued sullenly. "Weiss overheard him chewing me out after class, and she lent me a book she brought from home to help me with it. I was just going to return it to her and say thanks."

Nora looked from Jaune to Ren and then back to Jaune as they all sat in silence. "Boys really are dense, you guys are hopeless with your feelings" she finally muttered. "Jaune you might not have meant to, but bringing up Weiss like that in front of Pyrrha clearly hurt her feelings. You'd better run after her now and clear the air before either of you have a chance to over think this. Ren and I can go drop the book back to Weiss, we were going over for Karaoke night with team RWBY tonight anyway."

Nodding in agreement, Jaune thanked them both, grabbed his bag and headed for the door. His brain still needed time to process what had just happened but Nora's commanding tone had spurred him into action.

As he pulled the door open to leave Nora menacingly yelled after him "and if you somehow make things worse, don't forget I know where you sleep!" He shuddered; it might have been an empty threat but Jaune didn't want to think what horrors Nora might have in store for him.

In the hallway, Jaune's mind was racing. What had Nora meant when she said he had toyed with Pyrrha's feelings? He knew Pyrrha had been uncomfortable before the night of the dance when he had been chasing after Weiss but beyond girls being baffling and enigmatic, it had never really clicked to him why that was.

Was Nora suggesting Pyrrha also had feelings for him beyond just as a friend and partner? The notion had never seriously crossed his mind before, but it would make some sense with the situation he currently found himself in.

Pyrrha was the only person who had given him a chance when he'd first started at Beacon, the only person who had seen something in him that even he wasn't sure was there. When he was struggling with his combat training, she, Pyrrha Nikos, the most promising and gifted huntress at Beacon, had offered to personally train him.

It hadn't been easy at first, his soul crushing self-doubt had made sure of that, but somehow, with her prowess and support he was actually starting to improve in their training sessions, albeit slowly. Was she doing all this just because he was her team leader, because he was her partner, or was it something more than that?

Sure, he'd obviously thought about it before, she was one of, if not the most beautiful girl at Beacon. And as partners they spent countless hours together not just training and studying, but all the other hours in between. But she was also his closest friend, they'd become so close they were basically inseparable and he couldn't imagine surviving this long at Beacon without her by his side. He had worked hard to bury any feelings he had about her, lest he let something slip and ruin what they already had. Surely she didn't have similar feelings back towards him? Just the thought alone seemed so... Ludicrous...

With a sinking feeling, his self-loathing rained misery all over that happy little train of thought. This was Pyrrha Nikos, hero of Mystral and one of the most amazing students ever to enroll at beacon academy. She could have any guy she wanted, so what on earth would she see in a guy like Jaune Arc?

Sure, his Grandfather had been a famous huntsman, but not even his parents had believed in him when he told them he wanted to join the academy and follow in his footsteps. He couldn't blame them, he'd never displayed any amazing talents in the field, hell he could barely keep his shield up in battle without tripping over his own feet. He shook his head, no it seemed pretty unlikely.

He rounded the corner at a half sprint, his surroundings the last thing on his mind right now. *THUD!* The pain in his forehead brought him back to reality, he had ran headfirst into Blake. Even though somehow she managed to stay on her feet, the collision knocked the book she was cradling out of her hands, landing on the floor between them face down.

Jaune began to apologise profusely, "Blake, I'm so sorry" he panted, his mind quickly taking stock of his surroundings, "are you ok?" Somehow, he was now feeling even more terrible than he had a minute earlier. He bent down to pick up her book, pausing as he turned it over to reveal the cover, 'Ninja's of Love 2: Shuriken of the Heart'.

"Ouch, what the hell Jaune..." Blake trailed off as she realised, he had read the title of her book, embarrassed she quickly snatched the book out of his hands and tried to cover her now blushing face, looking away.

"Sorry" Jaune repeated again awkwardly, "Are you ok?" She grunted a non-committal reply. "Any good, your book?" He thought he'd try his luck with changing the subject.

"Oh, ahh yeah... Its OK..." She was still half covering her face but at least met his gaze now.

"I'm reading a book that Yang recommended at the moment". He distinctly noticed her bow twitch slightly as he mentioned Yang's name, or was he imagining things?

"Let me guess, it's that damn Pun book?" she rolled her eyes.

"You know it too? Yang was right, it's gotta be the Punniest book I've ever read!" Blake let out a noise somewhere between a groan and a sigh, but she had at least stopped covering her face now and was instead smiling at him. He went to return the smile, but then remembered why he was in this situation in the first place

"So anyway, why were you sprinting through the halls in such a hurry, is everything ok?" Her face was a mixture of concern and suspicion.

"Ohhh ahhh, yes, well, ahhh, actually... No, not really" he began to stammer disheartedly, scratching the back of his head as he spoke. "Have you seen Pyrrha by any chance?"

Her initially puzzled expression quickly turned to understanding as she realised why he had been running. "Yeah actually, I just saw her. She just came out of Professor Port's office, I think she was heading towards the front gates. She seemed kind of down though" Blake paused, "everything alright with you guys?"

"I'm ahh, not sure, I think I might've really messed up" Jaune didn't even try to hide his down trodden disposition. "I better chase after her, sorry for almost bowling you over..."

Blake put her hand on his shoulder and gave him a sincere smile. "Look no harm done, and I'm sure if anyone can cheer her up, it's you. If Ninjas of Love has taught me anything, it's that you have to fight for the things you care about, no matter what it takes it will be worth it in the end."

'Heh, cheesy' Jaune thought to himself, but he couldn't help smiling slightly. Something about the sincerity of her words broke through the storm cloud encircling Jaune's thoughts, boosting his spirits slightly. Thanking her, he turned and broke into a run again, heading for the front gate of the academy.
