Eleanor blinked and stared at the five children. They stared back. This was either going to go well, or not at all. She was so adamant on meeting the cute little heroes, that she forgot how horrible she actually can be with child interaction. Granted, these were teens, not children, but y'know, it can sometimes mean the same thing.

"You're not part of the League, are you?" She snapped out of her train of thought. The red headed kid decked out in yellow had asked her a question. Also, who puts a red headed kid in full yellow? Go for green, or red, or - oh, right, answers.

"Uh." She glanced at Batman. Technically, it was a no, right? Batman only said that she couldn't say her job, but was she part of the League? She did have her own code name registered into the computer.

"Sure." She internally winced, knowing that if this was the wrong answer, she was gonna catch some serious shit from the Caped Crusader later.

"Really? How come I haven't heard of you then?" This kid I swear. Couldn't the yellowed out redhead tell that she was panicking on the inside? He was asking too many questions, too many smart questions. If she didn't come up with an answer soon, she would panic and say something stupid like 'taxes'.

"Don't like people. Or cameras." Not the greatest answer, but it would do for now. It wasn't completely terrible and not entirely false.

"So, anyway, uh, I'm Spirit." She fumbled as she tried to introduce herself without tripping over saying her actual name. God, she forgot how dorky she actually is when she's not in the field. Curse those introverted and awkward genes. She hated introducing herself in any situation; unless it's right before kicking ass. Then it didn't matter.

"I'm Kid Flash," Sunshine yellow redhead - Kid Flash introduced himself with a grin. "but you can call me the man of your dreams." Wait - was he trying to flirt with her? Was it not obvious that she was older than him? Oh. Right, the mask. She forgot that it made her look younger than she is.

"Ignore him. I'm Robin, this is Aqualad, Superboy, and Miss Martian." The Boy Wonder pointed to each of them in turn. This situation was getting less awkward. Good. The tension in her shoulders was leaving, she didn't even notice that it was there.

"So what is it that you do for the League?" Miss Martian asked curiously. Shit. She didn't know how to answer this question. This is the question that Bats said explicitly not to answer, and it didn't look like he was gonna bother to step in any time soon. Clearly, he wanted her to suffer for irritating him earlier.

"I...do recon...and stuff." Sorry Bats, this is the best answer that she could do. Plus, let's be real. Every hero in the League does recon, so it's not a lie.

The Boy Wonder and Kid Flash had gotten caught up in a squabble at this point, which meant less attention was on her. She could deal with that. Aqualad and Superboy began dividing their attention between her and the two boys.

"Why do they call you Spirit? Are you joining our team?" Miss Martian asked again, feeling comfortable now that there was another girl in the mountain.

Oh she was panicking now, Batman had his back turned which meant that she was going to get no support from him. This was payback. This was her execution. A little dramatic, sure, but one does not cross The Bat. She had to come up with some excuses quickly, or she was gonna be in trouble. Granted, it wasn't that she was ashamed of her abilities, it's just...she didn't like people knowing.

"I'm Spirit because...uh, it was better than Ghost. And, um, no? At least, I don't think I'm joining this team in particular. You guys wouldn't have a need for my expertise anyways." Eleanor replied, somewhat wobbly.

She didn't expect that she would last much longer if Miss Martian kept up with the casual, yet pointed questions. Honestly, you would expect someone with training to not crack under pressure of interrogation. However, this was a bubbly, curious kid who was trying to make conversation with a socially awkward young adult. It was bound to go wrong from the beginning, unless she got her head on straight.

"No. She isn't joining the team." Batman confirmed sternly from where he was standing at the holo-computer.

Oh thank the Gods. Bats you just earned yourself a cake. Or a pie. Or a whatever you want because you just saved my life. Batman would never admit it, but Eleanor could bake. It was how she started to thank him after their original encounter. But back to the issue at hand, Miss Martian was starting to talk again.

"So how old are you? What do you do exactly? Do you have a mentor?" Miss Martian was cut off by the Zeta Tubes announcing an arrival.

"Designation 0-3: Wonder Woman."

Eleanor turned around to face her work colleague. Oh thank the Gods. Someone she knew on a personal and professional level to save her fully from this situation. Wonder Woman was the only person that she knew the true identity of in the League of heroes; and Wonder Woman knew her all-in-all.

"Spirit! It is wonderful to see you. It certainly has been a while since I've seen you in the Watchtower. I'm glad that you got my message about reopening Mount Justice. How did it go?" Wonder Woman made her way towards her friend, they had gotten closer in their time working together, even if it was somewhat off putting at first.

"Wonder Woman. Good to see you again. I've certainly been busy as of late. I've decided that I don't particularly like space after last time, so any meeting place that isn't that is a good one in my book." She replied chuckling a little at the last part. It had not been a good experience, and she honestly would rather die than repeat it again. It involved a rogue alien, a short circuiting spacecraft, and a very hot and bumpy ride back to earth. Like a rollercoaster from hell.

"As for how it went, it was pretty average. Got in, got out, was shot at, the usual. Apparently they don't have a thing for practical fashion they way that they were popping off rounds." She gestured to her outfit of black kevlar and armor, a few rips in some places from branches and too-close bullets.

"Good. I'm glad that it went well. The retrieval was important, and I am glad that you came out in one piece. I don't know what we would do without you." Wonder Woman was a goddess in all honesty. Yeah, she is one literally, but also, wow, I admire her personality. Is she like this with everyone or am I a special case?

"I am too, to be honest. Did not need to show up to work tomorrow limping in heels. No, thank you." Eleanor muttered so that Wonder Woman could hear.

"Speaking of, it's somewhat late on a Thursday night, I haven't had dinner, and I unfortunately pay taxes, so if there is anything else, I'm going to take my leave because I have work." Eleanor said her silent goodbye to Wonder Woman with a nod; and turned to address the rest of the room.

"No. You're dismissed. Good work." Aw. She got a 'good work'. Cute. Bats was going soft on her. Maybe it was all the baked goods.

"Alrighty then. Toodles."

With that, Eleanor made her way towards the Zeta Tubes, giving Wonder Woman a pat on the shoulder as she passed. Living in D.C. had its perks, however, in terms of distance from Rhode Island, proximity wasn't one of them. Oh well, that was her professional bike anyway. Maybe she could swing by and get some Thai takeout if the good spot on the corner of 10th and 14th was still open by the time she got back. Yeah, that sounded like a plan.
