So. Spoiler Warning. Enjoy^^

He chased her all the way back to the room. She ducked and dodged and weaved to avoid capture, using pillows as ammunition. Ruby made for a helpful ally and an adorable traitor, but alas, a successful defender she was not. It was only a matter of time until she got swept off her feet. Quite literally, though it was a double edged sword as he also fell, rolling with her on the bed. They got in close. laying side by side, legs curled in and woven together, they faced each other with smiles. Words weren't needed. Every touch spoke on its own, And every kiss they shared was a conversation. Their actions spoke volumes with trailing fingers tracings shapes and wholesome kisses melting them together into an abyss of heated passion that-

"CONNAR!"

Ended all too soon with Summer's passing, when she was forced awake from her now distant dream by the classmate that sat in front of her.

"Since when do you sleep in class?" Chazz would ask as he blinked.

"Oh...Princeton..." She said softly as she yawned herself into an empty feeling of longing.

That summer was too short...

She thought to herself, desperately clinging to the final image of his face that she was left with from her heated dream of their summer memories, feeling the sting of her tears before it faded away until it was gone.

Chazz gulped.

She's crying again!?

He thought to himself.

It seems she only comes back more sad every time summer comes and goes...

He sighed.

He was beginning to feel concerned for her well being.

She hasn't tried to ask me to hang out recently...

He blinked.

She hasn't for months now...I wonder what happened?

Could she no longer be interested in me...?

He watched with a heavy gaze as tears streamed her cheeks just like the rain ran down the windows.

No...it's just someone else has her attention...

"H-Hey, uh...I-It's no big deal or anything." he gulped, trying to make face of a good impression,"I'm just curious...N-Not that it's any of my business-or that I even care, or whatever!" he huffed,"I-I mean you're smart..." he blinked,"I-Is it about the notes...I could loan you mine or-"

Interrupted by the bell as she would sit up and watch the rain pouring outside. The first rain of the first fall in her second year of Duel Prep.

She and Princeton were in the same class again, it seemed that even though she was physically present, she was never really there, and he noticed that.

She's not here with me…

He sighed.

She's somewhere else entirely.

Vzzt Vzzt

...With someone else.

He sighed and watched her all the time. On her phone during free periods, kind of gone during the class, and only half present in their duels. She was lost in a world he knew nothing about and he didn't understand why he even cared.

-Jesse-

I got somethin' special planned for when I return~ Can you wait? ;)

-Connar-

Come on, don't do this now! You know the kind of life I live! Besides my dad and Uncle said they'd be staying this time! So I don't really have time for surprises...

-Jesse-

We'll make the time.

And if not, then I'll just work around you.

Simple enough!

One thing's for sure, stubborness is no slouch in him...

She chuckled softly and dabbed her eyes as she read the messages on the screen. As Chazz watched...it only seemed to hurt him. For whatever reason he couldn't explain.

XXXXX

The vacation time came around again and Connar was more than excited to get home. For the first time in a long time she would be together with her family.

"We're sorry, Connar." Mokuba's apologetic tone sounded through the phone receiver as his niece called with questions as to why she came home to an empty house,"I'm afraid this is gonna take us longer than we initially planned..." her uncle sighed,"We won't be home for a while."

"Oh...I see."

This was never unexpected. Sometimes Their business trips and plans lasted longer than anticipated. She knew this. Her father has told her many times. But it hurt just the same.

"I understand...tell dad good luck for me!"

"Connar I'm Seto Kaiba...I don't need luck."

"Well...you heard him." Mokuba chuckled,"He appreciates the sentiment, I'm sure."

"I left a credit card for you. Treat yourself as my apology." her father said"We'll see you as soon as we can."

The dial tone left an echo in her ears, even when she was no longer on the phone. She let out a sigh, suddenly keeling over in a pulsating pain within her chest.

"You're lonely...aren't you~?"

She shook her head and clapped her hands over her ears, trying to block out the patronizing voice that probed her mind.

"Maybe you should try listening to them...it seems like they have something important to say."

Who are you?

"Don't you remember me? I'm your best friend~, and you will never be lonely again..."

...What?

The sound of the ships' horns sounded in the distance and the voice in her mind finally subsided.

"Thanks for your help Connie-Girl." Jesse said as he greeted her with a cheeky kiss,"It's always a pleasure to see you." He chuckled and flashed a grin as the playful Duel Spirit Ruby greeted Connar in her own way, riding on her shoulder and licking her other cheek until she giggled.

"I'm sorry to cause such trouble." he said,"I'm sure you're in a rush to get back home to Daddy," he chuckled and suddenly the expression on her face became one of distance and sadness.

"...Uh-Oh." Jesse gulped,"My second year as an official boyfriend and I gucked somethin up didn't I?

"What?" she blinked,"Oh no that's not it." she said softly,"My dad...couldn't make it back."

"...Oh." Jesse blinked,"But...I thought they said they were spendin' the summer with you this time?"

"Something came up." Connar shrugged sadly,"It's okay, really..." She faked a smile,"He's a busy man...not a family man."

Jesse blinked and gave a lippy pout.

"It's not uncommon with business, you know..."

He blinked at her and sighed.

"That's not what's buggin me, Darlin." he said,"It's your insincere smile you're given."

"My what?"

"It's okay to be sad sometimes." He whispered to her softly and gave her a tender smile. She blinked and blushed, caught by him again in another lie and she sighed.

"There she is." he chuckled and gave her a warm hug,"I know what might cheer you up" He whispered as he peppered kisses on her neck in a ticklish manner that made her giggle and give him a gentle shove.

"Is that so?"

"Of course~" he grinned,"It's our second year bfin' together, our first year we stated it officially." he shrugged,"I think that's worth celebratin'"

She blinked.

That's true...

She thought to herself.

We've techncially been "together" for two years...

But...

She blushed as she glanced up at him. He was tall. Always smiling...with beautiful green eyes...and very handsome.

She found herself blushing even deeper.

I can't believe last year we actually stated it though...

"Hm?" she blinked as he held up what looked to be two tickets. For what though...she didn't know,"What's this?"

"I made reservations at that restaurant you like~" he chuckled.

"Wait, what!?" she gasped,"But Jesse...that place is crazy expensive!" she stated,"We're talking about the kind of place my dad takes us for a casual lunch..." she said,"How could you afford it."

"Woah no hush with all this and that!" he said clapping a hand playfully over her mouth as he chuckled,"None of your business how I could afford it, and don't you worry about how I did so!"

She blinked.

"Well...dad left me a credit card and said I could do whatever I wanted to...so..."

"Unh-Unh!" he snipped, swiping her wallet away.

"Jesse!?"

"No!" he laughed and played keep away with her wallet. She swiped and pawed to get it back but his ducking and weaving made it impossible to catch him,"You can have this back~ After dinner." he smirked,"You just dress up, and look pretty~" he winked.

Once again she was silenced by his charm. She wanted nothing more than to throw herself at him and kiss him again and again...

Though with her stubborn pride...she wouldn't dare give him the satisfaction.

Still though, she cracked him a smile, which was more than a win for Jesse.
