Episode 6: Baby
After seeing Dawson and Joey reconcile, Pacey decide to leave the two of them alone. He didn't make his presence known as he turn and walked away. He figure he can always get his watch back whenever. As long as he knows where it is at - he knew his watch will be in good hands. Apologizing to his brother Doug for making him turn back to retrieve his watch; Pacey told Doug to take them back home.
The image of seeing them two together like that has been hunting his mind all day. He knew he couldn't be the one to hold her heart. Her heart was already set on Dawson.
Dawson.
The one who could do no wrong. The one who could look down on everyone else but himself.
He don't get it. He don't understand how Dawson gets away with everything. He is always looked as the "Golden Boy" compared to Pacey. He always gets what he wants. And when he do do something stupid, all is forgiven just like that. Unlike Pacey who have to work hard to gain back a person's trust. The one who always looked down upon. The one who always seem to do wrong. Nothing is never good enough when it comes down to him.
Pacey Witter - the black seed.
Compared to his friends and family he is nothing but a huge disappointment. So of course Joey would be quick to forgive Dawson.
Pacey is starting to feel like Jan from the Brady Bunch. Whom, by the way, is his favorite character. He could relate to her. Nobody never give Jan any credit just like nobody never gave him any. He is and always will be known as the screw up.
Which is why he feel that he will never get the girl. It is made known that Dawson may be the one who will get the girl in the end.
A knock was heard at his bedroom door as he wonder which one of his siblings it is at the door. They probably want him to do something for them. After all, he is also known as the "Errand Boy."
Getting up off his bed, Pacey walk to the door. As soon as he open the door, he was surprise to see Joey standing there.
Mitch have been avoiding Gail at all cost since the last time they fought. He's been busy seeking divorce lawyers. He had found one and set up to file a petition for divorce. He went about and done this on his own account without consulting Gail about it what's so ever. He didn't care. He was on a mission. What Gail did to him was far worse than what he's doing to her. At least that's what he kept telling himself. Deep down in his heart, he's not sure if he could ever trust Gail again.
Sitting in his truck outside in front of his house, Mitch took a deep breath as he knew that at some point he is going to have to face Gail. He knew Dawson wasn't home - which he can not blame him - knowing that his parents are fighting. In fact, come to think of it, he hasn't seen much of Dawson lately. Mitch let out yet another heavy sigh as he brace himself of what to come. Getting out of his truck, he reach over to grab the brown clasp envelope which held the divorce papers inside it.
Gail was in the kitchen making supper when Mitch walked in. She didn't noticed him standing there watching her as she stir the pot. Gail had a lot of things on her mind trying to figure out how to get through to Mitch. She have to find a way to reason with him. The last thing she ever wanted was a divorce. Yes, she screwed up but now she want to make it right. The first step she did was to admit to herself that she did wrong. Than, she had called Bob and ended things with him. Now, she have to apologize to Mitch and fight for her marriage.
She turned the stove off once she notice the food is done. Turning around, Gail jumped out of her skin and let out a loud yelp as she saw Mitch standing quietly with his arm crossed over his chest while he was looking at her. Holding her hand up to her chest, Gail try to calm herself down. She took a moment before looking up at him and notice the way he was staring at her. Not saying a word, Mitch just stood there and kept his eyes focus on her. The way he was staring made her feel a little unease as she try to figure out what he is thinking at this moment. Noticing the brown clasp envelope in his hand, her heart stopped a beat as she knew what was inside that envelope. The very thing that could change her life forever.
Mitch notice Gail staring at the envelope he held in his hand. He almost forgot that he even had it with him when he walked into the kitchen. Everything had seem to be forgotten as soon as he saw Gail at the stove. He was frozen in place as he watched her. All he could think about is how beautiful she is. She had her hair up in a pony tail with her bangs hanging loosely in front of her face. She had on a white tank top and faded blue jeans. Just looking at her almost made him want to forget about this whole divorce thing.
Clearing her throat, Gail slowly made a move towards him. "The food is done if you're hungry," she said.
"Gail -"
"And there's cold beer in the fridge in case you want any," she interrupt.
"Gail -" Mitch try again for her attention.
"Dawson won't be home for dinner, he's eating over at Mrs. Ryan's," she went on.
"Gail, can you just stop!" He got her attention now as he got a hold of both of her upper arm. "We need to talk about this."
Gail nodded her head as she knew she couldn't avoid this forever. "I know. I know we have to talk but can we do that after we have dinner," she asked hopeful.
"No," Mitch said. "We have to do this now."
Gail shrug away from his hold. "Why? Why do we have to do this now, Mitch? I apologize for what I have done. I messed up and I'm sorry! I know what I did is wrong and inexcusable. So can you forgive me? Okay? Just - just please forgive me!" She begged on a verge of a breakdown.
"Gail - Gail, listen to me! I'm sorry but I already made up my mind," he try to calm her down.
Tears were already spilling from her eyes. "I love you, Mitch! We can work this out! How about we go see a marriage counselor? Huh? Will that be alright? I will do anything to prove that we can work this out. Just please don't leave me!"
"No."
"Mitch, please!"
"No, Gail! I said no. There is nothing you can do at this point but to sign this divorce papers," he held up the papers in his hand for her to see that he means business.
Gail was literally shaking at this point as she looked on at the papers in his hand. "What about Dawson? Hum? Have you even consider to think about him?" She asked hoarsely.
"Don't," Mitch stepped back as he pointed his finger at her. "Don't you dare bring Dawson into this! This is all on you! You should have thought about Dawson when you slept with another man! So don't you dare bring Dawson up to me! You have no right!" He yelled as he slam the papers down on the table.
Gail jumped as she knew what Mitch just said was right. She didn't stop to think about the consequences of her actions. She just did whatever the hell she wanted to. Never mind, Dawson or Mitch or anybody else. All she cared about was herself. And now look where it has gotten her.
"Joey, what are you doing here?" Pacey asked as he open the door wider and stepped aside to let her in.
Joey walked in to Pacey's bedroom passing him along the way; and stopped halfway before turning to face him. She watched as he closed the door than lean against it as he crossed his arms across his chest. Looking at each other for a moment, Joey reached into her pocket and took out the silver diamond watch. Noticing the item in her hand, Pacey looked at her intently. He watched as she fingered his favorite watch as if she was debating whether or not to give it back to him. He couldn't help the little smirk forming as he silently wished that he was that watch right about now.
"Uh ... I believe this belongs to you," she said as she walk back over to him to give the watch back to him. "You left it in my room and I've been meaning to give it back to you," she brushed her hair back behind her ear.
Pacey smirked as he watch how nervous she seemed. She is cute when she's nervous. And the fact that he makes her nervous makes him feel so much better. It shows that he has some kind of power over her. Reaching over he grab a hold of his watch as his fingertips brushed against her hand. An electric wave of emotion shot through both Pacey and Joey. It is always like this every time they touched or even just being around each other. There is no denying that there is sexual tension between these two. Even if one of them isn't ready to admit it. It is still there.
Pacey licked his lips as he let out a breath to calm himself down. After a moment, he prompt himself up from against the door and walk over toward his bed to leave some distance between them.
"Thanks, Jo. I've been looking all over for this," he lied. He knew she had it all along. He just didn't want her to know that he had went back to get it only to find she had company.
"Well, I'm just happy to oblige," she said.
Pacey smiled as he put the watch on and sat at the end of his bed. Joey stood at her spot for a moment as she kept her eye on him. She had to admit she felt a slight disappointment when Pacey moved away from her. Not knowing what to do next, Joey slowly joined Pacey by sitting next to him on his bed.
"You don't have to stay if you don't want to," said Pacey.
"No, I want to stay," Joey said.
"Good," Pacey said as he flash that sexy smile of his.
Joey couldn't help but to smirk. Seeing him like this somehow makes her feel better. Like all is alright in the world. For some annoying but good reason, Pacey do make her feel safe.
"So? What do you have plan for us to do?" She asked.
"Well, I don't know. I was planning on playing my Xbox 360 but I don't think -"
"Cool. Sounds like fun," she interrupted.
Pacey took a moment as he smiled at her. Is she for real? Well, he shouldn't be too surprised considering her claiming to be a tomboy and all. Of course she wouldn't mind playing video games with him. This is great! It's like a whole new level of awesomeness. Feeling excited because he gets to spend some quality time alone with her, he quickly shot up from his bed as he said he's going to get some snacks.
Joey couldn't help but to laugh as she watch Pacey run out of his room. Shaking her head at his excitement, Joey decide to look through his games to see which one she wouldn't mind playing. So far all she saw was Zombie games and nothing but violent video games. Things that she do not care too much about. She kept looking until she found something she knew that both of them would enjoy playing - Madden NFL 16. Smiling to her satisfaction she decide to get the game all set up while she wait for Pacey to return with their snacks.
On his way back to his room, Pacey had a smile on his face as he heard what Joey had put on for them to play. It just so happen that she had picked one of his favorite game Madden NFL 16. Walking into his room, he revealed the bowl of popcorn and two bottles of Coke Cola. Joey smiled as she quickly walked over to him to grab her bottle of soda from him. They sat up at the head of the bed with the bowl of popcorn between them. Getting comfortable, they started with the game.
Their were some yelling, goofing around, and gloating going on as they played the game. Both of them were having so much fun as they continue to beat each others team. Toward the end of the game, Pacey let Joey and her team win. He didn't have it in his heart to beat the girl that he love at a video game. He could have easily won the game but held back a few times for her sake. Seeing her jumping for joy and mocking him by rubbing it in his face was well worth it to him. He love to see her happy like this. He love the fact that he is the one that make her this happy. Watching her all care free like this brings so much joy to him. This is how he will always want to see Joey. Happy. He hate the thought of seeing her sad or cry. He don't ever want to make her cry and he certainly don't want to be the reason for her to cry. She is his everything. And she always will be.
Getting up from her spot on his bed, Joey decide that it was time for her to leave. Not wanting to go because she was having such a great time; she also knew her sister Bessie will need her around since she is very close to her due date at giving birth to her nephew. Since Bodie is still out of town, Bessie will need her little sister to be close by.
Pacey notice Joey getting ready to leave as he turn his game off. Today had been fun and he didn't want it to end. Walking her to the door, Pacey had stopped her before she walked out.
"Joey, wait. I, uh, just wanted to say that I had a good time today. Thank you," he said.
Joey smiled at him. "No thanks necessary. I had a good time too, Pace."
They both smiled at each other until she turn to leave again. Before she had a chance to leave, Pacey quickly grab a hold of her hand to pull her back to him. Looking at him with puzzlement, Joey wondered what was up?
"Hold on a moment," he said as he let go of her hand so he can take the watch she had gave back to him off. Holding it up for her to see, he went on to say, "I want you to have this."
"Pacey, no. It's yours," she was shock that Pacey would give her such a thing. It is a beautiful watch. She don't understand why he would give it to her.
"Joey, please. I want you to have it. I know you will take good care of it," he said as he grab a hold of her hand again and place the watch on her wrist. "Besides, it looks good on you," he add on.
Butterflies were fluttering her stomach as she looked at the watch on her wrist. She can't believe that Pacey would give her this watch. What did she do to deserve such a beautiful gift? For the first time, she was at awe. Too many emotions was running through her. She didn't know what to say. A simple "thank you" just didn't seem enough. With all her willpower, Joey kissed Pacey on the cheek before she reached up to give him a hug.
Shocked by her action, Pacey stood still as a rock for a moment before he responded by wrapping his arms around her for a tighter embrace.
For the past few days, Pacey had been spending a lot of time with Joey. While Bodie was still away, Bessie was dangerously close to her due date. So Joey was very thankful to have Pacey around. To her surprise he turn out to be an excellent friend. One she know she could definitely depend on. Like at this very moment, Bessie had shocked them all when she reveal that her water had just broke. In a panic, Pacey and Joey didn't know what to do. They were in a tight situation where there is only one adult who is in a care from two teenagers. What to do? They have no clue. Both Pacey and Joey were running around like maniacs trying to figure out what to do. Pacey couldn't help but to run in the kitchen to get himself a glass of water to calm himself down while Joey is going threw the phone book trying to find anybody close by that may know how to deliver a baby.
Meanwhile, during all this craziness that is going on, Bessie seem to be the only one who is calm during this whole situation while she look on at the two teenagers before her. Shaking her head, she had to put an end to this as she opt to try for to get them to calm down. After all, she is the one that is in labor here - not them.
Joey was currently yelling at whoever it is on the other line; apparently not getting threw to the person. Sensing her little sister frustration, Bessie walk over to Joey and took the phone from her than hung the phone up.
"Bess! What are you doing? We need to find someone that can help!" Joey panicked.
"And I can see that you're doing so well," Bessie said with a straight face. "Jo, I don't need someone to come here. What I need is to go to the hospital," she said just as Pacey walked into the room.
"But, Bess, how do you expect to go to the hospital when both Pacey and I don't even have a license. Which is why we need to call someone who can drive us to the hospital," said Joey.
"I'm sure either you or Pacey could drive me. Just take my truck. I give you permission."
"Are you crazy!? I don't even know how to drive! Besides, your truck has a stick shift which makes it even harder for us to drive!" Joey panicked.
"I can drive it," Pacey volunteer as both girls turn to look at him. "I mean, I do have a learners permit and I am familiar with a stick shift."
"See. Problem solved," Bessie said as she walk over to hand him the keys.
"No!" Joey exclaimed. "No! Problem is not solved! Pacey, do you really know how to drive a stick shift? And Bessie, do you honestly want Pacey to drive us to the hospital? I mean, be reasonable here."
"Joey, calm down. I am being reasonable. The only way I see it is that we don't have any other choice. Now I suggest you pull yourself together and suck it up. Pacey, you drive," she said as she place the keys in his hand and proceeded to walk out the door. "And I don't want to hear anymore complaint from you!" she shouted back at Joey.
Joey was in a mess. Her heart was racing as her head was all over the place. She silently pray to God that they will make it to the hospital safely and that they will make it on time. It was time like these that she really wish that Bodie is around.
Meanwhile, to her surprise, Pacey manage to drive them to the hospital safely as she saw that they had made it to Capeside General Hospital. Getting out of the truck quickly to get Bessie registered in, Joey kept her eye on Pacey as she realize that there is a lot of things she don't know about him. For this past few months, Pacey has been nothing but full of surprises. And what shock her more is the fact that she can't wait to see what other surprises he may have up his sleeve.
Life have been lonely and quiet lately at the Leery's household. Mitch made sure to have all his power to avoid Gail at all cost. He has been going to see a divorce attorney secretly without letting Gail know about his plan. Gail still haven't sign the divorce paper like he want so his best bet is to seek a lawyer. In his mind, he wants to end his marriage as quick as he had decided to married her. Thinking back, too many regrets has crossed his mind. The fact that he had married her so fast without even taking the time to get to know her was his biggest regret. The sad thing is that he actually thought that he did knew her. He thought that he was the love of her life. He thought that he could give her everything and that he is the only one she needs; she loves. But he couldn't be more wrong. She is not the person that he thought she was. The women that he once loved would not throw away twenty years that they shared together like it was just a piece of trash. The women that he once loved would never let another man touch her! He thought that she was happy. He thought that he was the only one that could make her happy. They have shared a wonderful son together. So what went wrong? Why she feel the need to seek someone else?
But he is thankful for one thing he got out of his screwed up marriage - that is his son Dawson. At least he and Gail had done something right. That is one thing he will never regret.
He just wish that things could have worked out. But in this case, all good things must come to an end.
But not for Gail it doesn't. Apparently she has other things on her mind. Like the fact that no matter what it takes - she is going to save her marriage. Yes, she screwed up and yes she regret it. But she learned from her biggest mistake and she want to make it right. What Mitch don't know is that she knew that he have been seeking out a divorce attorney. With that knowledge alone made her act quickly. She is not going to give Mitch a divorce! Mark her words!
So instead, she went to seek out an attorney herself. What she want is to see if she and Mitch could come up with an agreement for a separation at least instead of a divorce. That way their marriage doesn't have to end completely just yet and while during that time they are separated she could come up with a plan to make Mitch fall in love with her all over again.
So when she walked into the house, she wasn't surprise at the least when she saw that his lawyer was present. In fact, she expected to see him any time soon. Looking over at Mitch, she notice that he was sporting this smug look on his face as if he was telling her that he had won this round. What he don't know is that she have a little surprise of her own.
"Oh, hi. You must be Gail? My name is Tom," the mid-high heavy set man said as he quickly stood up to take her hand for a shake.
Gail smiled sweetly back at the man as she took his hand; knowing by the end of the day he is going to change his nice attitude towards her.
"Nice to meet you," she said as she kept a smug look of her own over at Mitch.
"Mitch asked me to stop by so we can discuss about agreeing to sign the papers for a divorce," Tom carried on as he took back his seat right next to Mitch.
"I see," Gail said as she took a seat of her own across from Mitch and Tom. "But before we discuss this matter - I am expecting a guest of my own who should be here shortly."
Mitch looked at Gail questioning as he wonder what she is up too. Come to think of it, he did notice how Gail didn't seem all that fazed that he had brought a lawyer present to their home. It's almost as if she had expected it, even. Curious as to what she is up too, he hope that she haven't plan anything stupid. Keeping an uneasy eye on her, Mitch doesn't trust anything about her. Whatever is going on in her head right now he's going to make sure that he get to the bottom of it.
"Ok-ay, um, Mitch?" Tom turn to him uneasy as he noticed Mitch seem just as confused as he is while he shrugged at him. "Well, we didn't expect any one else to join us -"
"Of course," Gail interrupted. "Just like I didn't expect for you to show up either."
"Really?" Mitch said doubtful as he looked at his soon to be ex-wife. "Cause the way I see it, you didn't seem all that surprise to see Tom here. In fact, it's as if you expected him to be here. Like you knew I was looking for a lawyer. And yet, you are expecting someone yourself," he pointed out.
Both Mitch and Gail kept staring daggers at each other as if they were having a little silent war going on. Poor Tom was looking back and forth between them starting to feel really uncomfortable. Which is highly unusual considering that he should be used to these kinds of things by now. Being a divorce lawyer and all. He have dealt with many divorce cases before but never the one where there are so many unspoken tension going on between the divorcees.
His heart start to beat again as soon as he heard the bell ring indicating that someone is at the door. He never thought that he would be so happy to have his rival present.
Gail quickly stood up as she rush to the door.
"Perfect timing. Mitch's lawyer is already here," she said as she stepped aside to let her lawyer in.
Mitch's jaw dropped as soon as he saw who had walked into the room. He never thought that Gail would go through such great lengths as to bring his old college friend to represent her. No - correction, his now ex-college friend. That traitor.
"Jason? What are you doing here?"
"Hello, Mitch. Isn't it obvious? It certainly has been a while," said Jason. "Gail came to me and said she needed a lawyer and well ... she can be very persuasive."
"How persuasive are we talking?" barked Mitch as he threw a hard glare at both Gail and Jason.
"Whoa, calm down," Jason said as he held up both hands with mock surrender. "I'm just saying that she can talk me into agreeing to represent her."
"You still could have said no. You were suppose to be my friend!"
"And yet, you should have been the one to come to me asking for help. Not your wife," Jason pointed out.
Mitch sighed as he scrubbed his hand over his face. "I didn't come to you because I knew that you were a friend to the both of us! I didn't want to get you involved with our problems! And I sure as hell didn't want you to represent her!" he pointed at Gail.
He don't know what Gail was thinking to go to Jason with their problems but he do know one thing is that she had made the matter even worse. She should have never went to Jason. Going to him is like a slap to his face which had just pissed him off even more.
"Ah - um! Now that we're all here. How about we sit down and talk about how you two want to settle this - calmly," Tom said.
A bit unwillingly, everyone gather together as they took their seats. Mitch and Tom on one side. Gail and Jason the other. The atmosphere was a bit too awkward for any one to bare at the moment.
"Okay, so, Mitch have already drew up the papers for a divorce. He also have his part signed already. All we need is Gail's signature. But she needs to corroborate," Tom started.
"Well, first of all, my client feel that they should come to an agreement term for other options before they decide to quickly end their marriage. And I for one highly agree on that," Jason reasoned.
"What other option are you talking about?" Mitch asked Gail.
"I was thinking that maybe we can settle for a separation. That way you can still have your space and I will have mine. We will still be married but living our separate lives. Only until we can figure things out and see if this is what we really want," Gail explained.
"So all we are asking is to hold off the divorce for now and settle for the separation. Mitch, if you still feel that you want to end your marriage within the next six months than Gail have no choice but to sign the divorce papers," Jason continue on.
Mitch thought for a moment as he kept his gaze on Gail. Seeing as she is desperate not to end the marriage just yet made him curious as to why she is so keen on saving something that she herself have destroyed. If she doesn't want to end the marriage now ... than that's fine by him. Giving her the evil eye, Mitch have something else up his sleeve. He's going to agree on the separation. If separation is what she wants, than separation is what she's going to get. But one thing is for sure - he is going to make damn sure that she will be the one to beg for the divorce in the end!
"Fine. I agree."
I'm sorry, the number you are trying to reach is unviable right now. If you leave you're name and a brief ...
Joey hung up the phone as she tried what seem to be the seventh time to get a hold of Bodie. She don't know what to do. At this very moment, she is in a complete mess. She don't know what getting a hold of Bodie would do but she hope by some miracle he would find a way to get the first flight back to Capeside, Massachusetts.
Pacey was roaming the halls looking for Joey. He had finally found her sitting in the waiting room looking very distraught. Feeling sorry for her he knew that she was busy trying to get a hold of Bodie. From the looks of it, he could tell that she didn't have much luck. Sighing, Pacey walked over to her.
"Can't get a hold of Bodie?" he asked.
She looked over at him with those big sad eyes of hers. "No, every time I try to reach him it goes straight to voicemail," she sighed.
"Well, try calling him again and if it goes to voicemail, just leave him a message letting him know to get a hold of you. Let him know that it's important," Pacey said.
Joey did what Pacey said as the call went once again to voicemail. Even though she couldn't get in touch with Bodie, she thanked her lucky stars that Pacey was there for her. If it wasn't for him, she wouldn't know how she and Bessie would ever make it to the hospital. They wouldn't be here now, that's for sure. They probably would have stayed home while she would be the one that will have to deliver her own nephew. She mentally shook with that thought. It would not be pretty.
Joey and Pacey both jumped when her cell phone went off. Joey nearly dropped her phone when she noticed that it was Bodie who was calling her, all the while trying to answer her phone as quickly as she can she was struggling having a grip on her phone. With quick action, Pacey reach out his hand to study hers for her to keep a firm grip on her phone. She mouthed "Thank you" before answering her phone.
"Hello? Bodie?" she rushed.
"Joey, hi. I'm sorry I wasn't able to take your calls. I was stuck in a seminar. Is everything okay? How is Bessie?" he asked concerned.
"That's what I was calling you about. Bessie's in labor right now and I was hoping that maybe you can get a flight back home early? She really needs you," Joey added.
"She's in labor?!" Bodie asked shocked. He didn't expect her to give birth to their son in another couple of days. He had another night to stay in Italy and wasn't ready to book a flight back till then. "I don't know, Joey, I can try to see what I can do. I'm sure they will let me leave a little early when I let them know that it's a family emergency."
"Bodie, please hurry. I don't know what to do," she panicked.
"Everything will be fine, Joey. I promise. I will see you guys as soon as I can," he said before he ended the call.
Pacey studied her as she slowly push the end button on her cell phone. Too many thoughts were running in her head. So many questions were building up. She had a bad feeling that something terrible is about to happen. A lot of 'what ifs' were running through her mind. Today has been a crazy day and she feel that she is about to explode with all the excitement that is going on. Pacey sensed what she was feeling and was willing to go over to her to calm her down but stopped short when the doctor showed up.
"Miss Josephine Potter? Your sister is ready for you to be in the room with her," the doctor said.
Joey just stood still, eyes wide open as she just nodded at the doctor. Not noticing the look she gave, the doctor smiled as he turn and headed straight back to the room where Bessie is. Trying very hard to calm down, she failed miserably as she was starting to have a panic attack. It was hard for her to breathe as she was suddenly short of breath. Her heart was racing and her temple was sweating. She closed her eyes tight as she gasped for air. She was worried. She was worried that she was gonna lose her sister. What if her sister have a hard time giving birth. What if something goes terribly wrong and she die from child birth. She had already lost her mother, she can't bare the thought of losing her sister too. She had heard how hard it is to give birth to a baby that comes earlier than their due date. She had heard about all of the risks that could happen. She just hoped to God that everything is going to be okay.
Pacey kept his eye on Joey the whole time. He knew that she is suffering right now. He knew the reason for her sudden change of mood; why she is panicking. Watching her as she beat her chest with her fist, he knew she was struggling to breathe properly. Not knowing what to do, Pacey slowly walked over to her. Standing beside her he didn't know how to comfort her. He wasn't sure if she would want his comfort. He hate to admit it but Dawson is usually the one that would be around to comfort her when she needs it. But standing here with her now is different. It's different because now Dawson is not here but he is. Now that he is the one here to comfort her, he don't know how to do so. Noticing her hand shaking, Pacey slowly reach out his hand as he lightly brush his finger against hers not sure if he should take her hand to his fully. But to his surprise Joey had felt his finger brush to hers as she quickly grab a hold of his hand. She held on to it tightly as it seem to calm her down a bit. Her breathing was starting to become more study as she continue to grab on tightly to his hand. He didn't know what else to do but just stand there while he let her hold his hand. What happen next nearly floored him when Joey once again surprised him when she turn into his arms as she force him to hold her in a tight embrace.
The feel of her in his arms like this made him realize how special their bond has become. He now know that Joey have trust him enough to be her comforter. This is something that he have out beat Dawson with. Pacey now know that Joey will always come to him for comfort. That right there had brought a smile to his face. Not only have they become best friends, but they also became each others comfort. Holding her more tightly to him, Pacey gently pat her back as he whisper soothing words to her to calm her down. He told her that everything is going to be okay and that Bessie and the baby are both going to be fine. He reassure her how strong her sister is and that nothing is going to let her leave her wonderful little sister behind. Everything that Pacey said seem to calm Joey as she gave him an appreciative smile. After he was certain that she was fully calm, he encourage her to be in the room where her sister is waiting for her.
Alexzander Jonah Wells is what Bessie named her new born baby boy. She and Bodie had talked about what they were going to name their child but had a hard time picking one. Now that little Alex is born, Bessie came up with the name just like that as soon as she saw her son. It will be a surprise for Bodie because his grandfather's name is Alexzander and their son will also carry on his father's last name. She personally like the name Jonah so she thought to use it as his middle name. And that's how Alexzander Jonah Wells came about.
Now that her beautiful son is brought into the world, she is waiting on his father to show up so she can introduce the two of them. It would be nice to see father and son together. It was just too bad that Bodie had missed his own son's birth. Joey had mentioned that she had spoken to Bodie on the phone and said that he will try to get an early flight back. She just pray that he was able to do so.
Looking over at her sister, Bessie smiled warmly as she watched both Joey and Pacey tend to Alex. From the looks of things she could already tell that Alex is going to be so spoiled. Watching the two of them with her son made her realize how cute they look together. She secretly like the idea of her sister and Pacey possibly being together as a couple. She had to admit that she was surprised with Pacey today. He had been nothing but wonderful this whole time. He kept his cool and not once panic in any kind of way. If he did he certainly didn't show it. She liked the fact that he had took charged of the whole situation. They don't know what they would have done without him.
"Hey there, little Alex. It's me your Uncle Pacey," Pacey said as Joey playfully hit him on the arm. "What? If you really look at it - I am his Uncle."
"Pacey, just because you was here when he was born doesn't make you his Uncle," Joey said with a playful roll of her eye.
Pacey just ignored her as he continue to play with Alex in her arm. Alex seem to be taking a liking to Pacey as he smile brightly up at him. Which had warmed Pacey's heart.
Bessie smiled at the scene until a breaking news has flashed on the TV screen which had caught her attention. Reaching over to grab the remote, she turned the volume up so she can listen in on the news. But what she saw had made her heart stopped. She couldn't understand what was happening right now. Did she hear right? Is the scene that they are showing is real? It can't be! There is no way in the world all this could be true.
Both Pacey and Joey jumped out of their skin when they heard Bessie's scream. Wondering what the problem is both their attention went straight to the television screen. Both of their mouth's dropped as they saw what the problem was. No! It can't be! Bodie? Dead? It doesn't make sense! She had just talked to him on the phone. How could he be dead? The news said that the flight from Italy on the way to Capeside had crashed and there are no survivors. She knew that something terrible was going to happen but she didn't think that it would be Bodie! Poor Alex! He would never get to know his father! He will not have a dad growing up. No one to teach him how to play sports or any other things that boys like to do. The worst part about it is that it happened on the day of his birth. Alex will remember his birthday the day that his father was tragedy killed.
"How could this happen?" Bessie was at a lost. Her voice was cracking with every word. "He was suppose to be here to see his son. What they're saying is not true! Right? This is one huge misunderstanding. I'm sure he's alright and is on his way to us," she cried.
"Bessie -" Joey cried.
"Stop! Joey, just stop! This never would have happen if it wasn't for you," Bessie barked.
"W-What? Bessie!"
"If you didn't call him to make him come so soon none of this would have happened!" she yelled.
Joey couldn't believe this. She couldn't believe what her sister was saying to her. This isn't like Bessie. Why would her sister say that to her? She already felt bad as is. Why add more salt to her wounds? Tears were filling her eyes as she was on a verge for yet another breakdown.
Pacey watched Joey carefully as her sister kept blaming Joey for Bodie's death. He couldn't take it much longer. Bessie knew better. She had no right! He get that she is mad and hurt but to take it out on her little sister is just too much!
"Hey, Bess, calm down! This isn't Joey's fault! She didn't know this was going to happen. None of us did. She only called him because she was worried about you. She was afraid that she was going to lose you," he said.
Bessie snickered angrily. "Oh, so it's okay for me to lose him?"
"Lose who?"
Everyone stopped as they turn to look at the voice that was coming from the doorway. All eyes went wide as they saw Bodie standing there looking good and well. How was that even possible? They thought that his plane went down. How is he even here?
"H-How?" Bessie ask with just one word.
Bodie smirked at her as he knew what she was referring to. He happen to see the news on his way to the hospital. Thank God he wasn't on that flight. Right after he was on the phone with Joey, he was able to manage to take an earlier flight back to Capeside. So now here he is, right where he should be. With his family.
AN: Well that's it with this chapter. Please let me know what you think. I didn't like this episode personally so therefore it was pretty hard for me to figure out how I wanted to take it. I wanted to add Mitch and Gail in this chapter because I didn't think it seem right not to finish solving their problem after the last chapter. In the original series Mitch and Gail wasn't in this episode at all so I felt that I need to address them here in my version. Also, I didn't like how Dawson was there for Joey and Bessie during the time when Bessie was in labor, so I made sure to keep Dawson out of this chapter and have Pacey being there instead. I hope you guys like how I at least went about with this chapter. Also, I will start doing some changes. For now on, instead of doing an episode recap, it will be now known as character insight. The reason why I changed it is because I wanted you all to know the character's inner thoughts during the episode. That way you can get a more understanding of the character's. Also I will be leaving a little treat for you all at the end for now on as well! Each time I will leave a sneak peek for what's to come for the next chapter. That way you all can see what to be looking forward to. Since I am bad at updating on a regular basis, this is the least I could do for you guys ;)
CHARACTER INSIGHT:
Pacey: He is hurt with the fact that Dawson seem to have the upper hand of everything. Lately he has been spending a lot of time with Joey, which he is very happy about. He had gain her trust which he always wanted. The fact that he is there for her in the time of need played a big part for him. So now he is starting to realize that he may have a upper hand in this one. Which is going to be huge for both Pacey and Joey.
Joey: She had lost her mother and Dawson had been there for her when her mother died. Now she seem to be in the same situation when she thought that her sister might die from giving child birth. (By the way, I have no clue about giving child birth whatsoever. I don't have any kids and I have never been pregnant). Since Pacey have been around, he showed a side to her that she never knew he had. He surprised her which left her feeling even more confused. She is starting to take a liking to Pacey which is huge on her part.
Mitch: He is angry and hurt and the only way to hurt the one he love is to hurt her back. He still shamefully loves Gail but can't shake the thought of her seeing someone else. He felt that he needs to break her. She had broken him to the point where he is willing to do just about anything to make her life a living hell.
Gail: She know she did wrong and she is trying her best to fix it. She really regret what she have done and willing to pay the price. But she is not backing down! She is willing to fight back for her love and she vow to be a better wife this time around.
Bessie: She is having a hard time during her last stages of pregnancies. She had to rely on her teenage sister and friend to get her to the hospital. The fact that her baby came early was a bit stressful considering that the father won't be able to be around for their child's birth. Then she heard the news and thought that she had lost Bodie forever put a strain to her heart. She really loves Bodie and relies on him. She was very angry and took her anger out on her sister when she didn't really mean too.
