Makai

"I'm really worried about Yusuke. He's taking school quite seriously and attending a class like a normal student." Keiko said to Shizuru who was smoking a cigar next to her.

"Same as my little brother." She puffs out smoke glancing at her sadly.

"Kuwabara too?" Keiko asked.

"Yeah, the same goes for everyone else because they miss Eri," Shizuru replied glancing at Keiko sadly. "Kuwabara told me that Eri is being quarantined, her spirit energy is unstable and she needs to remain in the spirit world."

"Does he know when she'll be back?" Keiko asked.

Shizuru shrugged replying, "Who knows? Koenma will update us about Eri."

Yusuke was walking around town alone feeling a little down that he hasn't seen Eri in the past few weeks. Being quarantined sucked as much as going to school every day. He's been skipping classes that are a big impact on his future that he's going to be dealing with that's going to be pretty rough. He did meet with Koenma earlier that he was talking about the special troops were out searching for Yusuke to erase him. He could no longer return to the spirit world because he has bigger problems with his father King Yama. The young male wanders around the streets and saw Kurama walking around too.

"Hey, Kurama." Yusuke greeted.

"Hello, Yusuke." Kurama greeted.

The two chatted and decided to take their conversation to sit on a bench near the streets, the city was very crowded later that day.

"How are you feeling?" Kurama asked.

"I've been so off about everything a lot lately." Yusuke starts as he let out a sigh escaping his lips, "After saving the world, someone has been taking over my body during the fight Sensui, and not only that Eri got herself put into quarantined. I am the reason for getting her in the hospital since she caught a high fever."

"It wasn't your fault. Sure, it may have been the only way to defeat Sensui. But you still manage to get Eri back increasing your power to defeat him with her help."

"I've noticed how Hiei has been acting off lately too," Kurama said.

Yusuke raises his eyebrows, "What do you mean?"

"Hiei missed Eri too. I would see him go to the playground from time to time." Said Kurama glancing away from Yusuke, "I even asked him where he would go for so long. He goes to the spirit world to check on Eri and stays there for a short time until he leaves."

"Where is he now?" Yusuke asked.

Yusuke P.O.V.

Just as Kurama suggested that Hiei may be at the same playground that he took Eri. I saw him sitting on the swing set swaying back and forth not looking up. I could tell his facial expression was showing a sign of sadness in his eyes.

"Hiei…" I called out his name to get his attention on me.

He raised his head giving me a stoic expression like he normally wears on his face. He was wearing a mask to hide his expression, so he didn't show it but I already can feel it.

"What are you doing here?" He asked.

"I just thought I would stop by to have a little swing." I shrugged walking over to him and sat on the swing. "How are you doing?"

"I'm fine." He replied.

I knitted my eyebrows together replying, "You're not fine. You've been moping a lot lately ever since Eri has been quarantined."

"It's not that it's just...I don't have my powers anymore." He narrowed his eyes at me before facing away swinging a little in his seat.

"I know you lost your dragon during the fight to protect Eri. You did it because you didn't want her to get hurt."

"But it's still not the same. Without my dragon, I'm a weakling." He said in a sharp tone.

"That's not true at all. You fought without using your dragon against Sensui." I was reassured. "Eri doesn't consider you a weakling for sure if that's what you think. She was worried about you."

Hiei glanced up ahead saying, "Eri is still in quarantine and she is getting better since her fever is going away."

I faintly smiled, "That's good to hear."

Hiei let out a small "Hn" and stared across the playground with a small frown on his lips.

I asked, "What did the doctor say?"

"I asked the doctor about how her condition is and she's fully recovering. Sometimes I try to get her attention, but the glass window that we went to see her weeks ago. She can't see me because it might only trigger her." Hiei lowered his head as I furrowed my eyebrows sadly gazing at him with empathy.

"What a bummer," I muttered.

"Hate to say that she might stay there for some time until like Koenma noted. It's her decision if she's ready to have people over and we can't allow her to lose detachment."

"Agree," I said. "Well, since I heard about what you've been doing lately. I'm actually glad you finally came around to help Eri out of that mess."

"What do you mean?"

"You think I haven't been pay attention? Hiei, we both know and you know that Eri is closer to us." I said in a low tone. "Since day 1, you acted distant towards her and thought that she might not be interested around you. But as time slowly passed, you two have gotten along with each other, and not only that you protected her while I did the best I could do to prevent Sensui to harm her."

"Where are you getting at?" He faced me with a questionable facial expression.

"Admit it. You want to stay by Eri's side." My eyes stared into Hiei's red ones as he let out a small snort. "You don't want to leave her again. Do you?"

"Why would she want to be with me anyway?"He asked.

"I'm just saying, Eri looks up to me and you...as well as the others."

"I don't want to hear any more of what's coming out of that mouth of yours."

I nodded, "Just think about it. Okay? What do you think it's best for her?"

He didn't say another word and we both decided to head off to Genkai's place. I couldn't penetrate what Hiei was thinking about and I know it has something to do with Eri. He can't hide away his feelings because of what we learned about the little girl suffering so much that she even manages to thaw out Hiei's cold heart.

After we walked to Genkai's place I did remember meeting some men that were servants to my ancestor that I learned about. That explains what happened in the middle of the fight when my ancestor took over my mind and body. I knew Eri had to notice something wasn't right about me and the more she rewind me, the stronger her power flow through my body to defeat Sensui to get himself an ass-whooping. I had my things packed up and ready to go that I wished the others luck to go see my ancestor and ask him directly about why he needed to get in touch with me now and disrupt the battle to kill Sensui. I didn't want to kill anyone, but neither let Eri used so much of her on me either.

Hiei P.O.V.

The men that were suitors to Yusuke's ancestor had arrived on earth, they will be taking him to Demon World to meet with him in person. As for me, I was going to be traveling again only this time I will be going to Lord Mukuro's castle and train there. I might even want to become one of his army men to be suited for the job and concur some missions while I am away.

"Hiei, are you leaving?" I heard my sister Yukina approach me with a sympathetic look in her eyes.

"Yes, I am leaving," I replied a little soft in the tone facing her with a soft gaze.

"Aren't you going to stay and wait for Eri to get better?" She asked.

"No."

She nods lowering her head saying, "I'm sure she's going to miss you two while you're gone. I miss her a lot too."

"We all do."

I didn't want to talk about this anymore and I want to just forget the things I did to move on. But without my dragon I am nothing. A weak demon that got shot with a bullet to reverse my demon energy to a mere normal individual aka a "Human". I still had my Jagan Eye, but what's the use of using it without strengthening my ability.

"I must go now."

"Before you go...I want to give you something." Yukina said as I saw her handing me a drawing on a piece of paper that was colored.

"You drew that?" I asked.

"No. It was Eri's." She replied.

My eyes widen as she handed it to me saying, "She told me to give this to you. It was the day after going to the doctor, she made it for you and Yusuke."

'Why did she draw me?' I thought.

I recalled back from what Yusuke told me earlier on the way here that Eri deeply cared about the two of us. She grew closer to us not just because she was rescued the first time it's because she wanted to learn more about who we are and why we are different. She's a demon with a kind and gentle soul, no demon is never like that and she's been like that towards me.

"I'll take it with me. Thank you." I took the picture out of her hands to fold it into fours and put it in my pocket. My cloak isn't with me because I knew Eri still had it after she grabbed it to realize that we are here to save her. I don't even bother to get it back, not if she wants to see me or anyone else.

"I'll be on my way now," I said to Yukina before facing away to head inside of the portal Yusuke jumped in so I can begin my next journey to Lord Mukuro's castle.
