A nice quick one shot, I had saved up and never posted, I thought it would be nice to do a story with Lily and Lana. That's it for now thanks for reading, enjoy!

After School, Lilly walked out she was wearing a cheerleader uniform and her lavender backpack on her back. She looked around for her mom and the old van but instead saw a familiar body wearing overalls, a backward cap, and leaning on an old red and white pickup truck.

"Lana, what are you doing here?" she asked.

"Well, that's a nice greeting for the sister kind enough to pick you up," Lana said.

"I'm sorry, I just was expecting Mom," Lilly replied.

"Yeah, she got tied up with Lola's thing, so I decided to come and get you," Lana explained.

"Well, thank you," the 10-year-old said.

Lilly opened the passenger door of the truck, pushed her backpack in first, got in herself, and closed the door. Lana closed her door and put on her seatbelt, making Lilly remember to put her's on as well. She started the truck which, sputtered and sounded like it wanted to die.

"Hey, did you fix this radio yet?" Lilly asked.

"Nope, still want to listen to it?" Lana asked.

"Nah, there's only so much Ace of Base someone can take," Lilly said.

"That was a strange tape to be stuck in there," Lana replied.

The teenager noticed her sister's attire and also that she seemed to be slightly depressed.

"So, what's with the cheerleader outfit?" She asked.

"Well, I just got out of cheer practice," Lilly said.

"You just felt like wearing it out, then?"

"I guess so."

With the exception of the sound of the engine, it was a quiet ride. Lilly noticed they weren't going in the direction of where they lived. Part of her wanted to say something but, maybe Lana was trying a new way to the house. Lana was an adventurous person by nature so she could be trying new ways to get home.

"I had a bad day today," Lilly said.

"Huh?" Lana asked.

"If you were wondering why, I'm not talking so much," Lilly replied.

"What happened?" Lana questioned.

"I'm not sure you really want to know," Lilly said.

"Sure, I do, I care about you," Lana said.

Lana shifted into gear and looked as she sped-up on the new street.

"Well, Cate is having a party; you know Cate Flowers, right?" Lilly asked.

"No, but a party sounds like fun," Lana replied.

"Yeah, she didn't invite me," Lilly explained.

"Oh," Lana said.

"Yeah, and she did it where she walked past each 5th grader and gave invination, then she skipped me," Lilly replied.

"She's not a friend of yours, is she?" Lana asked.

"No, she doesn't like me, Jenny likes her, and got invited."

"She's going?"

"Well, yeah, she asked me, I couldn't say no just because I'm not invited."

The truck stalled for a second, Lana moaned and restarted the truck.

"It's getting better," Lana replied with joy.

"You should have gotten a better truck," Lilly said.

"Oh, she doesn't that, Mama loves you," Lana said with her right stroking the stick shift.

Lily rolled her eyes at her sister's strange affection towards the truck.

"That's not all," she replied.

"What else happened?" Lana asked.

"Where are we going, this looks like we are going into the country?" Lilly asked.

"That's because we are," Lana said.

"Why?"

"Why not, you have somewhere to be?"

"No, but...,"

"Sometimes, a drive is nice."

"Well, I did something stupid."

"What?"

"I did the wrong homework assignment, for English, I thought we were doing pages 156 and 157, not 146 and 147."

The older sister was quiet, expecting Lilly to say more.

"Aren't you going to laugh or something?" Lilly asked.

"Huh? No, I thought you had more," Lana said.

"It was really embarrassing."

"Think about it; you got something done ahead now."

"I still have to do it and take late points."

They in the countryside where farmhouses spread out between each other in the landscape; some were farms others weren't.

"Do you want to know why I'm really wearing this outfit?" Lilly asked.

"I thought you said that already?" Lana asked.

"Well, yeah I did get out of practice, but I stupidly knocked over my water all over my clothes, they got soaked," Lilly explained.

"Oh, I'd rather wear wet clothes than some cheerleader uniform," Lana said.

"That would be awful," Lilly replied.

"Where are your clothes?" Lana asked.

"In my backpack."

Lana turned attention at the backpack then back to the road.

"You had other stuff in there?" she asked.

"It's in a different compartment," Lilly answered.

"You had a bad day," Lana said.

The truck stopped and wasn't running anymore; Lana opened the door and got out.

"Hey, did it break down?" Lilly asked.

"No, come out here," Lana said.

The younger girl opened her door and got out of the truck. She could smell the country air, which, in this case, had the distinct smell of diesel fuel and vegetation.

"Why are we stopping here?" She asked.

Lana didn't speak. Instead, she opened the back gate of the truck's bed and walked in, and laid back on the spot where the bed met the cab. Lilly joined her and sat the same way.

"Why are sitting like this?" she asked.

"One of my favorite things about laying in mud is looking up at the sky; look at up," Lana said.

It was a blue sky day with white puffy clouds. It was peaceful and still. Time felt like it wasn't moving anymore. Lilly looked at the clouds they seemed to give her a calming feeling. After nearly 20 minutes, Lilly noticed that Lana had dozed off. She pushed her sister awake.

"Wow, that was relaxing, must have taken a nap!" Lana shouted.

"How is it comfortable enough to lay on; my butt hurts," Lilly said.

"That's because you aren't wearing pants," Lana snarked.

Lilly crawled out of the truck bed and stood to stare at Lana.

"So, are we going home now?" she asked.

"Are you still grumpy?" Lana asked.

"No, I guess not, my legs are kind of sleep, and I have red lines on them," Lilly replied.

Lana hopped from the bed off the right side and smiled. She took in a breath of country air and looked at her watch.

"I have to pick up Lisa in 20 minutes," she replied.

"We're picking up Lisa?" Lilly asked.

"She said to pick her up at five."

"We should get going, then."

"I have an idea, you know what's better than some lame party?"

Lilly didn't like the strange face her older sister made as closed the truck's gate.

"You drive for a while," Lana said.

"You know, you weren't asleep for 6 years; I'm still ten," Lilly said.

"Duh, but It's a great chance; an empty country road, and that's way better than some dumb party."

"I... I can't reach the peddles."

"You can sit on my lap."

"I...might break something."

"She's a tough gal."

"Ugh, I'm drunk?"

"And you didn't share?"

"Do you have an answer for everything?"

"Yes, now come on; I would have killed if someone let me do this."

Lana opened the door and sat down, Lilly followed and got on to Lana's lap.

"I don't know how to drive a stick," Lilly replied.

"You don't know how to drive anything," Lana retorted.

"You know how to drive me nuts," Lilly said.

The teenager ignored her younger sister and clipped the seat belt over both of them.

"Do, I just turn the key?" Lilly asked.

"No, first you must get to know the peddles," Lana replied.

Lilly looked down and saw three peddles.

"That far left one is your clutch, he's important, remember that one," Lana replied.

"Clutch, important," Lilly replied.

"The middle guy is your break, and righty is your gas," Lana replied.

"Now do we start the truck?" Lilly asked.

Lana laughed.

"No, look over there, that's the shift, he's important," she continued.

Lana explained to Lilly what the shifter's numbers and letters meant.

"Now, we start the truck, so first, put your left foot on the clutch," Lana said.

"Like this?" Lilly asked.

Lana checked her sister's foot and nodded. Lilly felt pleased with this result.

"Now, keep your foot on it and turned the key," Lana replied.

The truck started.

"Ah, she likes you," Lana said, "Now, put your other foot on the brake and release the emergency brake," Lana said.

"Where's the emergency brake?" Lilly asked.

Lana pointed at the lever that was labeled "emergency brake release".

"Now re-hold the clutch peddle and put it in first," Lana replied.

Lana gave her sister some more tips and when the truck started to move, Lilly felt her insides move around.

"You are going to want to turn left since we are turning around," Lana said.

Most of the drive was start and stop as Lilly trying to figure out, how to go. Lana was calm and collected, as normal, she just let her sister try out things.

"I hope, I'm not breaking anything," Lilly replied.

"She understands you haven't driven before," Lana said.

Since it became time to pick up Lisa, Lilly moved back to her spot as a passenger.

"Wasn't that fun?" Lana asked.

"Yeah, I guess it was; are you going to teach me more?" Lilly asked.

"If you want to; I should teach you how to fix a car; that'll come in handy," Lana said.

"You know what?" Lilly asked.

"What?"

"Thanks for making this day a little better."

"You're welcome, and don't tell anyone at home what we did today, please."

"No way, like I want to get in trouble with you! "
