Animal Soul Mate

"To accomplish great things we must not only act, but also dream," Crookshanks purred out softly as he gently rubbed his furry head against his soul mate's fur in a comforting manner. "Ignore that stupid female human, you might somehow be from related litters but you two are nothing alike."

Sirius let out a low pitched wine and rubbed his dog body up against his secret lover. "I try, I really do but every day it becomes harder. Each night when I do dream I find my dreams taken over by the likes of Bellatrix and You-Know-Who. It is like they have me trapped in this deep dark world that I cannot escape from."

"This building is harder to get out of than it is to get into Fort Knox," Crookshanks growled out angrily. "If only I could find a way to transform myself into a human's body, than I would be able to protect you. I could get you out of this hell hole and we could start a family together, our time here would be history."

"If that was possible I would happily go along with whatever was needed to make it happen, we could even create our own family together, but even if it was possible Bellatrix, the unpleasant and horrible woman she is, would properly run to You-Know-Who and rat us out," Sirius growled out as he allowed his head to fall onto his paws. "If it was not for you keeping a cap on my depressing thoughts and guiding me through this horrible time I do not know where I would be right now."

"You saw just the wonderful things my beloved mate," Crookshanks purred loudly, turning his head Crookshanks gave Sirius, who was in dog form, a lick over the nose in an animal like romantic kiss. "My dear animagus lover is smarter than he lets on."

"So are you though then again with you being Hermione's cat I would expect no less," Sirius teased as he snuggled up against Crookshanks' side, soaking up the warmth and love his lovers smaller body offered him. "Do...do you think we can get out of here? Bellatrix or You-Know-Who could appear in front of us and-"

"Then I would do my best to protect you my precious mate," Crookshanks said as he gave Sirius a small but loving head butt. "I will not allow anyone to harm my mate."

"Thank you Cro," Sirius replied with a small quiet bark of thanks, his tail wagged happily. "Through if it comes down to it I do not want you to have to get hurt because of me. You should-"

"Be quiet, calm down and be yourself around me," Crookshanks finished, not letting Sirius finish his sentence off. "How about you transform back into your human form so we can go back to that horrid room you were given and find that wonderful brush that you use to brush my fur?"

Sirius let out a soft bark, which in human terms would be classified as a short laugh. His eyes twinkled in happiness as he started at his mate only to dim slightly as he remembered just who else was in the mansion. Life was full of ups and downs.

"I wish I could do that love but remember who is also in this mansion?" Sirius asked only to freeze as his dog ears rose. "Can you hear that?"

"Give me a moment," Crookshanks replied, his once relaxed ears now going tall and stiff on top of his head as they swiveled around trying to pick up on the sound his mate that heard. A few seconds later he heard the sound. "That sounds like human footsteps...do you think?"

"Most likely love," Sirius replied with an angry growl, his lips going backwards to show his sharp canine teeth. "It is probably my dearcousin Bella and You-Know-Who. I was meant to show up for one of their special 'training and correcting' lessons half an hour ago."

At his mate's words a flood of emotions washed over Crookshanks. In his mind the image of his mate after the last so called lesson he had with the two annoying and evil people came to mind. His sharp claws came out and his tail began to twitch angrily. He would not allow his Sirius, his precious mate, to get into that condition ever again. If things kept up the way they were going Crookshanks' knew that he could possibly lose any chance of having a family, with the help of magic, with Sirius. In fact his star named lover might end up dead at the hands of Bellatrix and Voldemort.

"I have had enough, it is time to end this. I love you too much to allow this to go on any longer," Crookshanks hissed out angrily as he glared ahead in the direction of the footsteps that was now closer than ever and louder too.

"Cro, it is alright, really," Sirius said weakly only for his words to die on deaf ears as Crookshanks suddenly burst forwards and ran down the hallway without a backwards glance. "Damn it Cro. Come back here!"

Without thinking Sirius quickly followed Crookshanks' tail, he stayed in his animagus form as it would be faster to get about. His heart pounded in his chest as he tried his best to ignore the growing worry for his mate's safety. Just as Sirius found himself turning around a corner a loud angry meow echoed through the mansion followed by several angry swear words.

Not wanting to waste time, his mate was only a few steps away from him, Sirius charged forwards. As he round the corner Sirius found himself coming to a sudden halt as a bright light flickered around Crookshanks' body for a few seconds before it burst out of the felines body like an erupting volcano.

It was all Sirius could do to stand and watch as his feline lover was totally covered by the light. If Sirius was not still in his canine form he was sure that his mouth would be hanging open with his lower jaw touching the ground.

"What is going on! What is that stupid cat up to?!" the angry voice of Lord Voldemort yelled out angrily, his eyes blazing with the need to know as he tried to wrap his mind around what was happening in front of him.

"What have you done?" Bellatrix yelled at the whimpering Sirius who only had eyes and ears for Crookshanks. "Why could you not be a good little boy and become the Death Eater Bella was training you for! What have you done?!"

Sirius through found no words for Bellatrix as the fear for the safety of his feline lover consumed him. The constant purrs and meows along with the odd nudge of the leg was no longer present making Sirius fear for Crookshanks' life.

'Please be alright, please be alright' Sirius thought over and over again in his mind as the light, that was now totally covering his soul mate. 'I do not think I could live without you, please do not leave me alone with these crazy and evil people. I want to be with you, always and forever.'

Sirius felt his heart almost break as fear and concern controlled him. The shouts and yells from Bellatrix and Voldemort went unnoticed by Sirius as the dog animagus once again continued to stare up at his mate. As the light around Crookshanks shattered into a million pieces like broken glass gasps of shock came from Bellatrix.

"I should of known! I should of known that there was a reason why you spent so much time with a mangy cat!" Bellatrix screeched out angrily as she pointed at Crookshanks' now humanfloating body. "That bloody cat is not a cat! It's a human! An animagus like you! You were planning to escape or kill your dear cousin Bella weren't you! And after everything I did to make sure that you were no longer being mind poisoned by blood traitors and fools!"

Suddenly Sirius found himself very glad that he had stayed in his animagus form. For starters he had managed to avoid Bellatrix's nasty Cruciocurse for a moment as being a dog he was not able to speak like humans were able to. The second reason was the fact that he would of been drowning in his own drool as he stared at the amazingly handsome form of his now human mate.

Even through Sirius was in his dog form he felt all four of his knees shake slightly and his tail began to wag excitedly while his stomach felt as if there was butterflies in it. Floating in-between him and the evil duo, Bellatrix and Voldemort, the human Crookshanks floated.

A muscular but thin and graceful naked body floated in the air. Short messy ginger hair floated around his face giving off a powerful but calm feeling. In Sirius' eyes as the canine looked his soul mate over he found himself falling even more in love with the perfect looking man.

Shifting in place to try and hide the reaction his soul mate was giving him Sirius' whole body suddenly frozen in place. Human Crookshanks had just opened his eyes and was looking at him with unconditional love filled golden eyes.

End.
