For Her Own Safety

Astoria Greengrass let out a heavy sigh as she sat on the train next to the very last person she had ever wanted to see again. Seamus Finnigan. No matter what her parents and teachers thought Astoria was a very bright girl and knew what they meant when the word Indemnify kept popping up. They were sending her away for the summer to live with a more obvious light side family.

"Do not worry, I bet that we will both have a lot of fun together," Seamus said suggestively as he wiggled his eyebrows at Astoria. "You will love spending the summer with me and my family, I can introduce you to all my friends and I-"

"I have no interest in your horrible suggestions, I will do what I want when I'm ready," Astoria said stiffly as she held herself just as a proper pureblood lady should according to her mother. "If it was up to me then I would not be within a hundred miles of you. Have you forgotten that I am here against my will and I do not return your romantic feelings?"

Seamus grinned and leant close to her. "Come on Ast, do not act like that. I know that you are not really like that. Deep down inside you I bet that there is the true woman just screaming to come out. One that will-"

"Hex you very painfully if you do not back off," Astoria said primly as she shot Seamus a glare. "Need I remind you that I was allowed to keep my wand and use magic this summer for my own protection? Back off and stay away from me, I want to get through this summer with seeing your face as little as possible."

"You are just shy and playing hard to get," Seamus said as he sat back and slumped in his seat. "You know what? I think that this summer with me is just what you need."

Astoria refrained herself from rolling her eyes and did her best to ignore how her hand twitched for her wand. She was extremely thankful that her parents and older sister had promised to come and visit her almost every day, maybe she could speak to them about Finnigan's behaviour.

"Here you are, a beautiful young woman who has so much to offer the world but you cannot even begin to think about showing it because of your horrible and controlling parents!" Seamus said as he continued on without stopping to think or seeing the look of anger on Astoria's face. "This summer through things will be different! You can get away from your parents and their expectations of you. You can stop having to be a slimy snake and let that lion inside of you out and roar."

"I am not a Gryffindor, I am a Slytherin. A fact that I am very relieved and proud about it," Astoria answered as she did her best to keep her composure. "Now if you do not mind I would like to enjoy the rest of my train journey so-"

"No more talk about school and houses for a while! Got it," Seamus said with a large grin on his face making Astoria groan. "So what would you like to do this summer? If we let my parents know ahead of time we can properly do almost everything you want to do, within reason of course."

"I already told you that my only wish for this summer is to see as little of you as possible," Astoria replied as she closed her eyes and counted backwards from ten in an attempt to control her growing temper.

"Do not be like that, that is not a very nice thing to say," Seamus said with a frown on his face. "How about changing that attitude of yours right now? If you keep it than the rest of the summer will not be a good one."

"I already know that and I have already expected that from the moment my parents informed me of where I would be staying this summer," Astoria answered while thinking that her elder sister must be having a better start to the summer holidays than she was currently having. "If you must talk and I must hear that horrid voice of yours than tell me what you will be doing as soon as you get home?"

"Having some home cooked food, telling my parents about what has happened during this school year and catching up on things. Maybe we will go out for a meal or something," Seamus said as he answered Astoria's question while totally missing how Astoria really felt about both him and the situation. "Why? What will you be doing?"

"I will be finding out where my room for the summer is before unpacking, writing letters to my parents and sister and then busying myself by reading a book or I might even start reading book 1 of the series that my mother brought me as a gift to help make this summer holiday more bearable."

"Must be a girl thing," Seamus muttered to himself as he listened to Astoria's plans for the summer. "But do you not want to join me and my parents instead? It is going to be loads of fun!"

"It is 'my parents and I' and no thank you, I only plan to join you during meal times," Astoria said as she brushed none existent dirt off of her extremely expensive dress. "I hope that for you this summer holiday will be like any other summer holiday. You will not even know that I am even in the same building at times."

"That does not sound like a lot of fun," Seamus said with a frown on his face. "Just because you are staying with my family for the summer does not mean that you have to treat it like you are going to jail. Besides, you get to spend more time with me! We will be able to get to know each other and I bet that by the end of it you will be willing to become my girlfriend!"

Astoria, unable to take any more of the Gryffindor, simply shot the male Gryffindor a sharp look before turning her attention to the window. Her mind ran thought several different ideas on just what sort of thing she could do during the summer. Two things that came to mind was getting a lock for her temporary bedroom door which she would lock from the inside and sending her parents a letter requesting a bodyguard and to make sure that Seamus Finnigan would never have a chance of entering a formal courtship with her, let alone marrying her.

'If things keep going in the direction that they are going in currently I know that Seamus will find himself on the end of several nasty hexes' Astoria thought to herself as she kept her hand in reach of her wand.

End.
