Gentle Snowflakes

A large smile came to Fred's face as he found himself thinking how they looked utterly adorable together dancing in the gentle snowflakes that danced down to earth. The bright happy smiles on a much younger Galatea's and Lee's face made the panic and guilt inside of Fred wash away.

'Maybe this is for the best, they look so happy playing in the snow together. This is a victory for love.' Fred's smile grew as he watched Lee pull out a muggle advent calender and hand it to a surprised Galatea. 'In a merry-go-round sort of way...Galatea leaving home was for the best. If she had never of left home to live with Lee than neither of them would be this happy.'

"I just love this festival! Back when I had to live at home my parents never liked the holiday so I only got to really celebrate it when I came to Hogwarts," Galatea's musical voice said as it carried over the Christmasy scene to Fred's and Lee's ears. "I know this is the wrong thing to say but...I am glad that I left home and took the de-aging potion. I can be with you forever, Lee."

"Even though I was not totally sure about how this would work out I have to agree with you," Lee said softly, noticing a bit of lose hair hanging in front of Galatea's eyes Lee lovingly moved it so it rested behind her ears. "This way we can enjoy Christmas together, your parents have no say in the matter either...thanks to Fred."

"Do not worry about it," Fred said with a sheepish grin, blushing slightly when he realized that the two love bids' attention were on him. "I was just doing what was right, I know from how overbearing my mum can be that leaving home is a very good idea in certain situations. I could easily see how much both of you love each other and this is not just a quick fling or anything that might end in a few weeks or even months."

"Of course not, my dear Galatea is my soul mate," Lee said passionately as he pulled Galatea close to him and placed a loving kiss on her lips. "This Christmas is going to be one to remember, one where you do not have to sneak about at home or have a care in the world!"

Fred's eyes softened as he watched Galatea look at his long time friend with bright shining eyes full of happiness and glee. Fred's heart ached as he looked at the love sick couple, hating how they looked utterly adorable together as if they had come out from a fairy-tale. He wanted to know the feeling that Lee and Galatea shared, he wanted to find his true love during this magical time of the year as well. Part of Fred hated how he felt, he should be happy for his best friend, not green with envy and jealousy.

"You do know that I will have to return home right?" Galatea said with a soft smile, which only made her even more beautiful. "Even though my parents are almost as old as Albus Dumbledore they have the aid of their magic and House Elves on their side. It is going to be great fun going back to get the last of my belongings."

"But you've left home! Well...almost left home," Lee said with a sheepish grin as he hugged Galatea, he turned his head and glanced at Fred. "If they try to keep Galatea for themselves we can use the same trick as before and have them up on kidnapping...can we?"

"Maybe, I am not sure as Galatea is of age but they are her parents," Fred answered with a thoughtful expression on his face, glad for something to take his mind away from the painful thoughts. "We could have them charged with holding Galatea against her will or something similar?"

"Enough you two, I am almost done leaving home and my future has never looked so bright before," Galatea said with a happy laugh, she tilted her head backwards and looked up at the falling snow. "Snowflakes amaze me, they are so pure and innocent looking but put them together and it is another story."

"Reminds me of the old muggle saying, together we stand tall but separated we fall, or something like that," Lee said with a sheepish grin which only grew at Galatea's happy smile. "I think that this Christmas is going to be the best one yet."

"Because you will remember it?" Fred asked dryly only to laugh as Lee glared at him. "What? It is true! Do you not remember the last few years...no wait, you would not!"

"Gal, help me out," Lee said with a playful pout making Galatea giggle. "Fred is making fun of me! Stop him!"

"Unlike you my dear, I cannot just chuck him out of the bedroom and force him to sleep on the sofa," Galatea said with a small smile, Lee stared at her in shock while Fred broke out into laughter once again. "You sound like a four year child, not my soon to be husband."

Fred watched on as the playful batter passed between the two, even though his heart ached to have what he might never find he was truly happy that his friend had found just love. The smile on his face twisted slightly downwards only to quickly retake its original position, Fred did not want to ruin this special day for his best friend and lover.

"Just for that, this means war," Galatea said with a dark grin making Lee gulp nervously. Fred chuckled softly as he watched Galatea bend down and scoop up a handful of snow. "You should know by now that I always win."

'It is because Lee truly loves you and most of the time he cannot say no to you' Fred thought in a silent reply to Galatea words. 'One day...one day I am going to have what you two have and when I do I am never going to let anything ruin it.'

End.
