In any normal story, it would start out with a nice family, something bad happens, the main character starts to find themselves and solve the problem, then it's a happy ever after.
But this story is different.
There isn't a happy ending.
Tanjiro Kamado. A sweet young boy, who was always a little too skinny. If you brought up the name to anyone in town, a smile would appear, followed by many stories where the child had helped. It was sweet, but not to a certain man.
His name is Muzan Kibutsuji. And he was demon. Anyone could tell he was, by his white, almost death like skin, and his bright red eyes, swimming with death and emptiness.
His goal was to make everyone shiver in fear of the name, Tanjiro Kamado.
Tanjiro hummed as he pulled his long-ish hair in to a small, messy pony. He checked over his clothes again. Deeming he was ready for the day, he made his way to his door, grabbing his checkered haori and walking out.
He made his way in to the small kitchen in the home he grew up in. His mother was there, working over a large wooden bowl, that was clearly burned heavily on the bottom but still intact.
"OhayĆgozaimasu, Tanjiro." A sweet voice interrupted his starring. It was the voice of his beloved mother, a caring woman, who would do anything for her family. Everyone knew her for her son, and everyone knew of their problems.
The family was poor, very poor, they didn't have much and could only get so much, and they lived far up in to the mountains, where it took an hour or so to at least get near the town. It was quite unfortunate.
Her husband had died a few years ago. And so her poor son had to walk the miles to the town and sell charcoal. She always felt bad about it, wishing that she had more money for her kids, but, money can't grow on trees.
"OhayĆ, Mama, is that miso?" Said supposed miso started to bubble, the young mother started to grab small clay cups for the soup.
"Yes, can you make sure Takeo, Hanako and Shigeru are awake? I already have Nezuko out back with Rokuta, he wanted a pretty flower for..someone." Tanjiro raised an eyebrow, his smallest brother was in love with his eldest brother, always wanting to follow him around and give him gifts.
Tanjiro already had a feeling who the flower was for, but didn't say anything, instead he went to the room where his brothers slept.
He traveled down the short hallway to the wooden door, he silently entered and noticed two things.
1. How did they get half off of the Tatami Mats
And.
2. Where are their shirts?
"Oi, wake up sleepyheads, miso is ready and I think we might still have some rice left from last night, so you better hurry before Hanako eats it all~" Tanjiro almost fell to the floor when two bolts of lighting ran out of the room, only to come back seconds later for lack of clothes.
He chuckled as he made his way to his youngest sisters room. He knocked twice, signing that it was him, and coming in when he heard a quiet, 'come in'.
"Ah, good your up, food is ready, and you better hurry before it's all gone." He quickly left, not wanting to be run over, and started down the hall to the kitchen.
He noticed that Nezuko, his little sister, and Rokuta, his youngest brother sitting in their spots by there low table.
He sat next to his youngest brother, to help him eat, and was soon joined by his youngest sister, who just wanted to be near him.
"Hey! I wanted to sit next to nii-San! Move over Hanako!" Tanjiro sweat dropped at his brothers fighting to sit near him.
When it got to the point that Hanako was about to cry he stepped in. "Shigeru, your going to make her cry, you and Takeo can snuggle with me once I get back from town." He took note of the slight whimper from Rokuta, that he also wanted to be included. "And Rokuta can too, we can have a boy snuggle, how does that sound?"
Said boys all nodded, Rokuta was bouncing in his seat at the thought of snuggling with his nii-Chan.
"Ah! I have to get ready, mama, is the basket outside?" The mother nodded, she always kept the basket near the front door for Tanjiro, so he could easily put in the coal.
"Alright..I'm ready!" He called through the house, all his siblings ran out to him, giving him a huge hug goodbye.
"You'll get me sweets right nii-San!? Please please please!!" Tanjiro chuckled at his little sisters puppy eyes.
He nodded his head, "Of course Hanako, I'll get you some dango, yeah?" He got a sweet smile in return. He gave her head pats as he checked over the straps to the basket again.
"Okay, I'll be home by dinner." He started to walk from the house waving goodbye.
"Be safe!" "Don't get hurt!!" Please bring me back the dango!! Love you nii-San!!"
He chuckled again, he loved his family so much.
Tanjiro sighed as he made his way back up the mountain, he felt a little guilty about the sad look in the mans eyes.
As he was walking he stopped by an old man, the man had warned him about demons, telling the boy he should come inside and stay the night.
He continued walking until he reached his house, the lights were bright and he could easily smell the amazing curry that his mom was making.
He smiled as he rushed to the front door, making sure to grab the money and bring it to his mother.
"Mama, I'm back!" He called out, and soon he was bombarded by his little siblings, telling him they missed him so much.
He gave his mother the money which wasn't a lot but still enough, it was enough for food.
Tanjiro set down with his youngest brother in his lap, and his two brothers on either side, his other sister and his mother were on the other side of the table. We were all eating until a smell hit me..it was horrible, it smelt of death and..blood. Then it hit me...that was a-
"Mama take everyone in to your room, lock the door, dont come back out until I give my knocks. Okay?"
"But..wait Tanjiro!! What is the meaning of this!?" His mother was quite uncomfortable, she knew her son had a good sense of smell, and a strong gut sense, so when she saw the serious look her son was wearing, she gathered everyone into her room, and then she herself, then locked it.
Tanjiro growled, the scent was getting closer, it smelled horrible.
"Tanjiro what is it?" He heard his mother call. He gave a sigh.
And with a dead serious face he said, "demon".
