Hiya! I came across this song a few days ago and I was like, oh, this perfectly fits what Piper would be feeling in chapter seven of The Battle Has Just Begun! That chapter was in Reyna's perspective, but here we have the whole morning before that horrific ending scene, and it kind of jumps to a few days after—all in Piper's POV.
I don't own the song or characters. Enjoy!
Piper woke up with a heavy arm pressed across her stomach. Her bare stomach.
She did a double-take, then the memories of last night came flooding back, and she turned around in the cage of Jason's arms. She smiled, he looked so peaceful, so calm. His blond hair brushed over his forehead, and his lashes curled over his cheeks. His lips were parted, and the sheets were pulled down to reveal his muscled chest.
She shivered as she remembered her nails raking down that same chest just hours before. She sat up, wincing at the soreness between her legs. It was a pleasant ache; a reminder of their tender lovemaking. Jason's arms wrapped around her once more, and he pulled her to lay down next to him, nuzzling his face in her neck. "Pipes," He sighed, and she felt him grin against her skin.
"Good morning, Sparky," She bit her lip, smiling.
"A good morning indeed," He smirked, and she blushed as he pulled the sheet away from her body, baring her to him. When she tried to twist away, he tsked pinning her arms to the mattress rolling his body over her, "No, no, come here. You don't get to have crazy monkey sex with me and then try and cover yourself up."
Piper felt the heat rush to her face again, and she mumbled, "It wasn't crazy monkey...that."
Jason laughed, placing his weight on his elbows, "That? What is 'that'?"
Piper swallowed, her mouth dry. "You know what."
He chuckled, leaning down to press a kiss to her lips. When his hands began to wander south, she gasped, arching her back against him.
As he explored her body, he looked up at her, grinning. "Yesterday night may have been tender and slow, but right now, I want to show you what 'crazy monkey sex' really is."
"Oh, oh! Jason, wait! We don't have protection…" Piper began, trailing off.
She felt Jason grin against her warmth, "I wouldn't mind having babies with you. I have told you before, I'm going to marry you someday. It'd be nice to have a Jason Junior now, though."
She was panting, her eyes wide as he continued the assault on her wetness. "When we do have a son, we're going to name him Egotistical, after his father," She whispered.
Mischief gleamed in Jason's icy blue eyes as he slammed into her.
Piper didn't bother covering herself with the sheet as she sat up for the second time, still trying to catch her breath. She frowned, "What are we supposed to wear?"
She looked back at Jason, who was on his back, his arms beneath his head. He looked her up and down, "I really wouldn't mind if you wore nothing," He smirked.
Ignoring the blood that rushed to her cheeks, she stood, walking over to the large, white closet on the other side of the room. She tried opening it; the doors swung open and Jason whistled. Inside were heaps of clothes, half for a girl, the other half for a boy.
Piper raked through her side, which was all in her size, then shrieked. Jason jumped up, stark naked, and rushed towards her. "What's the matter? What?"
Piper swallowed, cringing, "This shirt is pink."
She tossed the offensive piece of clothing into the back of the closet, ignoring Jason's incredulous stare. He shook his head, chuckling, then nodded towards the mini drawers inside the closet. "What's in those?" He asked.
Piper opened them, and her brows raised high at the sight before her. There were two cell phones, neither with cases. Piper glanced from the phones to the clothes, then the closed drawers that remained shut. She looked at Jason, whose mouth was hanging open slightly. She smiled, "We have some exploring to do."
Jason had his hand on the small of Piper's back as he closed the door to their room. She had changed into black leggings and a tee-shirt the color of Jason's eyes, and he was dressed in dark jeans and a short-sleeved Polo shirt, emerald. "We should go tell them we agree to their proposal," Jason said.
Piper nodded, looking around. Her eyes strayed to Jason's chest, distracted at the sight of the material stretched tight against his, emphasizing his muscles and broad shoulders. "Jason!" A voice called.
They both turned to see Reyna staring at them, and Piper blinked in surprise. "One second," Jason hollered back. He leaned down to Piper, "Keep in mind, angel, if you'd like a repeat of this morning, you just have to ask. I'm sure they can wait for us an hour."
Piper blushed, and his lips pulled into a smirk as he stalked off towards Reyna.
Bitter jealousy surged through her blood as they spoke. Suddenly, Jason's expression transformed into one of anger. Pure rage. She frowned, and as he stormed up to her, her confusion turned into fear. What did she say to him?
As he stood in front of her, shouting, she had to blink before she could confirm she saw right.
There were angry tears in his eyes. He was shaking with fury, and as their argument advanced, she began to cry. He wasn't believing her.
She didn't cheat.
She didn't know Leo was alive.
I look up from the ground to see your sad and teary eyes
You look away from me
And I see there's something you're trying to hide, and I
Piper tried grabbing at his hand, but he yanked it away, his clenching. The pain flooded her body. Pain. Horrible pain. What was he thinking, believing her? Reyna.
Reach for your hand, but it's cold, you pull away again
And I wonder, what's on your mind?
And then you say to me you made a dumb mistake
You start to tremble and your voice begins to break
He said it in other words. He didn't want her because he thought she was a lying cheater.
You say the cigarettes on the counter
Weren't your friend's, they were my mate's
And I feel the color draining from my face
Did he not love her enough to believe her? Piper wanted to sink to the ground as he stalked off to Reyna, and kissed her.
Hours passed, she was feeling numb. She barely noticed the two walking off, or Calypso rushing to her, dragging her to her room. Calypso stayed with her until she fell asleep on the bed, Jason's scent on the sheets already fading away.
She struggled through the day, nibbled at her meals. And cried. When she woke up the next morning, all his stuff was gone from the room, and she cried more. Calypso, sitting beside her on the bed, told her, "Piper, look. I don't really know much about what happened. I'm not asking you to relay everything, but, if he is careless enough to leave you like this, he isn't worth it. Screw him and that Roman bitch, really. They don't deserve you, Piper. Show them that they won't bring you down."
And my friend said
"I know you love him, but it's over, mate
It doesn't matter, put the phone away
It's never easy to walk away
Let him go, it'll be alright"
Calypso had left after that. She didn't come back the rest of the day.
So I asked to look back at all the messages he'd sent
And I know it wasn't right but it was messing with my head
And everything deleted like the past, yeah it was gone
And when I touched your face, I could tell you're moving on
Days passed, and Piper barely ate at meals. Each time she looked at him, he was with her. Each time she looked at him, he would glance up at her, his gaze stony, and return to the Roman. Each time that happened, she would retreat back to her room. Each time she closed the door behind her, she would let the tears out.
But it's not the fact that you kissed her yesterday
It's the feeling of betrayal, that I just can't seem to shake
And everything I know tells me that I should walk away
But I just want to stay
Pain. Betrayal. Hurt. Sadness. Numbness. Hunger. Exhaustion. Anger. Loneliness. Repeat.
Pain because he left her.
Betrayal because he kissed her.
Hurt because he didn't believe her.
Sadness because he ignored her.
Numbness because he didn't look affected at all.
Hunger because his kissing her took her appetite away, and she wouldn't eat much at meals.
Exhaustion because he infiltrated her dreams, keeping her up all night.
Anger because it seemed he didn't love her enough to actually think she'd cheat and lie.
Loneliness because Calypso came and left. Leo came once. Hylla ignores her. Jason ignores her. Reyna smirks cruelly at her.
And my friend said
"I know you love him, but it's over, mate
It doesn't matter, put the phone away
It's never easy to walk away
Let him go, it'll be okay
Pain like she'd never felt before.
She began to feel scared—was this normal?
It's gonna hurt for a bit of time
So bottoms up, let's forget tonight
You'll find another and you'll be just fine
Let him go"
She remembered Calypso's advice from day one. She didn't want to let him go. She just wanted him.
Nothing heals
The past like time
And they can't steal
The love you're born to find
She swore off boys. She swore off any men. Because all they did was destroy. Hurt. Corrupt the heart of women.
But nothing heals
The past like time
And they can't steal
The love you're born to find
"I know you love him, but it's over, mate
It doesn't matter, put the phone away
It's never easy to walk away
Let him go, it'll be alright"
Who was she kidding? By swearing off boys she was swearing off all but him. There would always be only him. Just him. Forever him.
Wasn't he only this morning talking about marrying her?
About having children with her?
At the thought, Piper blanched. They had not used protection. If he truly was done with her and she found out she was pregnant in the next few weeks, what would happen then?
Was this all a cruel joke?
A mere prank?
No.
He wouldn't leave her to suffer to this extreme.
Not unless he cared.
Not unless he loved her.
Was this planned?
He told her she had nothing to be jealous about.
That was before.
This was now.
This was after.
And it was cruel.
