Chapter 1
The Beginning and the End
In the beginning of the universe, there were always two cosmic forces that balanced each other out; Life and Death. For every speck of life that was created. Death would eventually collect each and every organisms' souls. From the conception of time, these were the forces that kept the universe balanced. While a balanced existence is, obviously balanced, it became so very boring.
So, the incarnation of Life, created its very first avatar: Takanashi Kiara. A phoenix, which was one of the few animals that regularly visited and escaped Death. Death, obviously did not take such a teasing immortal too kindly. In response to Life's avatar, Death created Mori Calliope the Grim Reaper. Calliope's entire purpose was to keep the balance between Life and Death, and her special mission was to eliminate or capture Kiara. For eons, Calliope and Kiara battled each other, never gaining the upper hand. This eternal battle continued throughout all of Time...…
Trillions of Years Later
145 Millions years ago, the Jurassic Period
Dinosaurs now rule the land, sea, and air. T-Rex and Spinosaurus eat and hunt down their prey, while the ankylosaurs and triceratops eat the vegetation. Small raptors zoom by searching for food and shelters while pterodactyls soar in the skies. Throughout all of this, the seas were also teeming with giant organisms. Many, many types of sea animals existed in these times, but there was one particular species of fish that was feared by all of the rest of the ocean creatures. This species of shark is now known as the ancient Gura shark. This version of the Gura shark was over 200ft long and 50ft tall. It had several layers of teeth and its skin was so serrated, anything that brushed against these sharks died from loss of blood alone.
Eventually, when the age of dinosaurs came to an end, the Gura shark and many other animals were thought to have died millions of years ago. And most of them did die, all except for one. The Gura shark family had evolved to be able hibernate up to 10,000,000 years without suffering the same fate as many of its kind. And so, here we are in the year of 2021 A.D. with no magical creatures in 100s of years. At least until a curious girl found a special book.
Japan, Hokkaido Museum of Ancient Art, May 14th, 2020
(A.N. I think this is fictional, but I'm not too sure.)
Ninomae Ina'nis was the daughter of an accomplished adventurer and her father was the one to discover an ancient book. Not knowing of its power, he sent it to the Hokkaido Museum of Ancient Art and proudly displayed it in the main hall. Ina's mother was renown scientist that specialized in paranormal activities, such as the investigation of the existences of ghosts, spirits, demons, and angles. She was the on the first team that discovered and named the first confirmed ghost. Ina's mother named it "Phasma," which later inspired the horror mystery game, Phasmaphobia. Due to her parents line of work, Ins grew up with a tolerance to weird sights and sounds, and therefore was quite hard to scare. While this was mostly a good thing, as her lack of fear helped her to keep a cool head in stressful times, she also had a severe habit of walking into dangerous situations, not understanding the danger. One day here father and other were invited to the Hokkaido Museum to discuss their discoveries. They left Ina at the top floor of the five story building, thinking she would be far enough away from any potential source of danger. What they didn't know, though was that the museum staff had moved the excess artifacts to the attic and basements. Ina, being only 11 at the time, eventually grew bored and wandered around until she found the attic ladder. She climbed up and found a mysterious book that seemed to call out to her.
