It was my first day working at the Ministry of Magic, and Merlin was I nervous. It felt like a family of butterflies had moved into my stomach.

I gripped the fireplace mantel and took a few deep breaths to try and calm myself before I had a panic attack. That was the last thing I needed today. Once I steadied myself, I stepped into the fireplace, threw down a pinch of Floo powder and clearly stated my destination.

Once I finally stopped spinning, I opened my eyes to make sure that I had arrived where I was supposed to. Thankfully I had. As I stepped out of the Ministry's fireplace, I took a deep breath and inhaled a little ash which caused me to have a colossal cough fit.

A face appeared before me.

"Hey, are you okay?"

I nodded vigorously and tried to speak.

"I… Inhaled… some… ash."

The young man in front of me just looked amused.

"Here, have some water," he said as he handed me a giblet of water he had just conjured.

Taking the goblet, I guzzled down the cool liquid; thankfully, this caused the cough fit to dissipate.

"Thanks," I said as I handed the goblet back.

"I'm Benji Fenwick," said the cute guy in front of me.

"I'm Eliza Sutton," I replied with a smile. Oh, wait, I know you! You were the Gryffindor Keeper last year, weren't you? I was in the same year as you. Only I was a Hufflepuff."

"Right! Of course, I remember you," Benji winked.

For a moment I fell into his warm chocolate brown eyes. Giving myself a shake, swallowing I stared at him incredulously. He knew who I was? I thought I had been practically invisible to the guy.

"Sweet of you to say that Benji, but I seriously doubt you would remember me," I laughed nervously.

"Sure I do, you were sitting in front of me for N. E. W. T Charms," Benji replied cockily. "How could I not fail to notice the hottest girl in our year?"

Wait, was he talking about me? Did he just call me hot? My heart began to race, and my mouth went dry.

"I'm sorry I don't think I heard you right. Did you just say I was hot?" I asked incredulously.

"Oh come on, you know you're hot," Benji said flirtatiously.

My head was having a hard time processing all the information that he had just said to me.

So doing my usual when panic kicked in, I started to back off only to fall on my ass and make a complete idiot of myself.

"Eliza, are you hurt?" Benji asked, immediately extending a hand towards me to help me up.

"I… I gotta go."

I scrambled to my feet as people continued to swirl past me and I ran.

I ran out of the atrium and straight into the ladies restroom.

I stared at myself in the mirror. My pale cheeks were flushed, my brown curly hair was full of ash, and my green eyes were a little bit red from the coughing fit I'd had.

I switched on the cold tap and cupped my hands under the stream and splashed my face. I tried removing the ash from my hair and shoulders of my robes before I went to find the head of the beast division.

Shock still coursed through me. The fact that my crush knew who I was still blowing my mind.

Checking my watch, I realised that I was seriously late. A new set of panic set in.

I dashed for the elevators and prayed that I wouldn't get reprimanded for being late.
