Prologue
Talon walked carefully beside his mom. She looked around for any disturbances. Her ears moved to any noises that appeared. Talon's stomach grumbled.
"Hazel, my belly hurts." Talon complained. His mom rolled her eyes.
"If you would stop complaining every 5 minutes, then maybe the prey wouldn't run away." She scolded. Then a russell came from the bushes. Hazel's ears perked up. Her head turned in every direction. A faint hostile meow came from the bushes. 3 cats emerged from them. All 3 looked the same with their pelts as black as the sky with no stars or clouds and their deep blue eyes resembling the depths of the ocean. Hazel walked backwards slowly, keeping Talon behind herself. As the 3 cats inched forward, they inched back.
"We mean no harm! If this is your territory we will leave now!" Hazel meowed, still walking back. The middle cat laughed.
"We don't care! We just love seeing cats tremble before us!" The middle cat, now in front, gave a sinister grin.
"Talon, run" Hazel whispered.
"But-" Talon began.
"Just run!" Hazel yelled. Talon hesitated for a bit then turned around and ran away from the cats. He hid in a bush and watched the cats silently. He couldn't hear anything, they were too far away. Hazel hissed at the middle cat. The 3 cats laughed and meowed something to her. Then Talon saw something he would never forget. The 3 cats attacked Hazel. She tried to shake them off her body but it was too late. She was motionless on the ground. Talon's eyes started to swell. He ran out of the bush and into the distance. He didn't care where he was going, he just wanted to be nowhere near those cats. He started to sob. The tears flung off his face as he ran. He eventually fell to the ground from exhaustion. He moved his way up to the base of a tree and slept through the cold night.
