Namaskar, everybody. And once again, man it feels so good to be back in writing mode again, I just can't help that real life's been getting in the way rather too much of late, and especially as I'll soon be starting brand new hours with my work job, so some of my usual free time will sadly be sacrificed when they begin, but I've a few weeks yet so there's no worries needed yet, thank god. So while I've a week's holiday from work this week, what better time than to get back into some story doing? My Legends of Tomorrow project 'Coburn and the Legends' is that main objective target.
However, this little Marvel one-shot idea is something which came to my thought banks sometime last year and just hasn't left me at all, thanks to seeing Daredevil, seasons 1 and 2 anyway, and some of Jessica Jones season 1, which I still haven't gotten round to finishing off fully, something I do bloody well really need to start thinking about doing after so so long of not doing so, along with Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Defenders and Daredevil season 3. Thankfully though, I have at least seen bits of the Jessica Jones season 1 finale episode, and especially when Jessica finally puts an end to the monstrous totally sick psychopathic murdering creepy as absolute fuck totally worthy of being killed in the most brutal ways ever possible raping animal Kilgrave by snapping his neck. But as Claire Temple features in that episode, and because of course she's fully in the know about who our Daredevil boy Matt Murdock is, what might've happened if Claire had made a wise thinking decision and put in a call to Matt, telling him of the latest piece of work causing trouble in his city, that being of course the mind controlling Kilgrave creature, and that Jessica would need some much needed backup with dealing with him?
And that is what this one-shot intends to deliver the answer on. So let's see what happens, and I hope you all enjoy it. To help, we start in JJ 1x13 just after Jones has departed to meet up with Trish after asking Claire to look after Luke, and Matt's pursuit and final takedown of Wilson Fisk in DD 1x13 has happened at the same time, so Mr Kingpin has been delivered back into the hands of the NYPD, and Matt proudly wears his brand new red devil suit.
And let's also raise our heads to the sky and remember Sir Captain Tom Moore, a true hero and inspiration to so many in the old and young generations when he became famous the world over for walking 100 laps of his garden before his 100th birthday last year and ending up raising £33 million for the NHS, far more than his own original target of just £1000, and who yesterday departed for heaven after being the latest victim of this damn fuck all virus. May you rest in peace, sir, your inspiration, heroism and amazing accomplishment for the NHS will be long remembered by us all.
I do not own Daredevil, Jessica Jones or any one of the characters within either
'I have to kill him on my own'. As Claire watched Jessica leave, she found herself unable to stop thinking about what Jessica had told her in the early hours of that morning regarding the man who had been making her life, and the lives of loads more innocent people who had absolutely nothing to do with the crazed mind control capable psycho animal, an absolute living hell of late. If this guy is every bit the creature that Jessica has described him as, then death is certainly the thing he well and truly does deserve, Claire thought to herself, feeling her own disgust at the simple thought of Kilgrave well up inside her.
But at the same time, if this man was capable of doing what he could do at the levels he was able to do them at, especially on someone like the armoured shell skinned Luke who still lay unconcious on Jess's bed, Then Jessica probably doesn't know just what she could be walking into, Claire also thought, What further nasty surprises or traps this son-of-a-bitch has likely layed out and has waiting for her. Which means... Claire nodded. She had come to a decision- Jessica would almost certainly need backup.
But not any normal type of backup, the sort which would be influenced and controlled by Kilgrave the second they arrived on the scene. No, that was no good at all. It would have to be a very special kind of backup, someone who would be able to get within easy reach of Kilgrave without the fear of falling under the sick influence of his powers. And Claire, smirking devilishly to herself, knew just who she knew would be able to do all of exactly that, after all, she had treated him several times for serious wounds he had managed to gain on his usual night activities, . Reaching into her trouser pocket, she took out her phone, searched through her contacts list till she found the number she wanted, pressed the screen and held it to her ear. The phone rang a few times before it was answered.
"Hello, Claire," a man's voice, and with a pleased tone to it Claire noted, answered.
"Hello, Matthew," she answered, "I hear you had a little bit of trouble with Wilson Fisk last night."
"You could say that," Matt Murdock, by day top lawyer of the Neslon and Murdock law firm, by night rooftop runner and scaler kick ass vigilante guardian, both facts of which Claire was very much in the know about thanks to her and Matt's short relationship time together, replied, "The bastard tried pulling off one last desperate attempt to escape custody, but fortunately I put a stop to all that and delivered him back into the hands of the NYPD."
Claire chuckled. "I bet you did, considering what you're like when as your night time alter-ego." Then she remembered what she was calling about and switched to the subject. "But I ain't calling for a social reason. There's something I would be very appreciated about if you could lend someone a big helping hand with it," she explained with dead seriousness.
There was a small pause, Claire guessing that Matt was taking note of the way she was speaking as much as considering her words, then he answered. "What is it?" he asked.
"Jessica Jones. That name mean anything to you?"
"The bad ass Private Investigator with a bit of a mouth on her and drinking habit?" Claire could imagine Matt nodding at the other end of the line, "Yep, I sure have."
"Good," Claire said, "Then you need to hear this, Matthew. There's another creature who's a helluva lot more more sickening and filthy in nature than Fisk and has a very unpleasant and vile past with Jessica herself, and who has been swaggering around this city of late causing no end of trouble for her and her adoptive sister figure Trish Walker and loads more people with his bodily originated mind control capabilities, which he's able to put someone, anyone, under his sick spell just at the sound of his voice."
"Has there now?" Matt responded, a dangerous quality coming into his voice. When something like this reached him, Claire reflected satisfactorily, you do not wanna know of the outcome. "What's his name?"
Claire allowed herself the privilige of a sly grin, knowing that what she was about to say would be setting in motion the events of things to come, she hoped very much so anyway. "Kilgrave," she gave in simple answer.
That night, Hudson Ferry Terminal
"If Patsy or I ever hear from you, or see you, anyone who looks like you..." Kilgrave hissed at Jessica as he and the brainwashed Trish prepared to step onboard the yacht Goldfish, raising his left hand and pointing to Trish with his index finger, "She will slit her own throat. It's the ultimate contingency."
Then suddenly, a figure flip jumped from the roof of the warehouse on their left, landing perfectly on his feet right in front of Jessica, his knees bending a little as he did so before he straightened fully up again. It was Matt Murdock, dressed in his brand new red and black armoured Daredevil suit. In the holster on his left thigh, currentlly separated into two sticks, was his billy club.
"Daredevil?!" Jessica exclaimed with surprise, shocked at the totally unexpected arrival of the vigilante man.
Matt moved his head a little to the left. "Yes, Jessica," he acknowledged her with, "Me." He returned his full blind sighted gaze back to Kilgrave, the very presence of the man who had just influenced a group of innocent people into trying to kill themselves and who was currently holding Trish under that same influence, and who was completely totally twisted in his sick fascination and obsession for Jessica herself, alone bringing absolute disgust and rage into Matt and was enough to make him curl his hands into fists, his gloved fingers digging into his palms as he fought very hard to control himself.
Kilgrave's reaction was the same as Jessica's had been when Matt had appeared, but now his shocked surprise was replaced by a mad cackle of laughter. "Well well well. What brings you down here to my neck of the woods just as I'm about to bid my fond departure with dear little Patsy, Mr Daredevil Guy?" he asked humouredly.
"You do, Kilgrave." Matt spat the three words, the anger thick in his voice, the disgust he felt currently at the same levels as that every time he and Wilson Fisk had gone head to head with each other.
"Oh?" Kilgrave said, completely unperturbed by Matt's prescence, as if the Daredevil man couldn't possibly be of any threat to him whatsoever, "And why, may I ask, is that? Plus, how exactly did you find out about me?"
Matt smirked. "An anonymous tipster. That's who," he answered, holding off on directly mentioning Claire Temple, not when it was this man he was talking to. Then his anger returned. "It's over for you, Kilgrave," he went on, "Your days of mind controlling people and bending them to your own sick will are finished. For good."
A pause, then Kilgrave laughed again, this time for a bit longer, before stopping and looking at Matt with just as much anger as the Daredevil man was giving him. "Who do you think you are, eh?" he snarled at Matt, who stood there completely unfazed by Kilgrave's change of mad attitude, "To come here and tell me that, when I can so easily bring you under my influence and make you my obedient soldier, just like I did dear Jessica's lover man Lukey Boy Cage?"
"You don't control me, Kilgrave," Matt responded, "Not now, or ever will."
"Oh really?" Kilgrave said, raising an eyebrow, "Well we'll see about that, right here, right now."
Matt smirked again. "Take your shot," he challenged, using the same words as he had done to Wilson Fisk the previous night on their last fight together, resting his left hand on the two separated parts of his billy club but not drawing them from his thigh holster for the moment.
"Gladly," Kilgrave said almost gleefully. "Turn around and start walking," he commanded. But instead, to both Kilgrave and Jessica's complete shock, Matt took a big step forward, first with his left foot, then with his right foot.
"I said turn around and start walking," Kilgrave ordered again a bit louder, but again Matt didn't seem to hear him and took another couple of steps forward, bringing him ever closer to Kilgrave and the still under brainwash influence Trish. The Daredevil man then brought his right hand up to his ear.
"I'm sorry. I don't think I heard you," he said rather smugly.
Now Kilgrave's anger started to get the better of him again, his eyes blazing, teeth bared in an open mouthed snarl. He released Trish's hand, reached into his shirt pocket and drew out a knife, which he threw down at Matt's feet, Matt's super-enhanced senses telling him exactly where it landed. "Pick up the knife and slit your own throat," Kilgrave tried this time. When Matt didn't move, he added, "Do it, or Patsy here..." again his left hand came up, indicating Trish with his index finger, "...will kill herself."
Matt bent down and took hold of the knife's handle in his right hand, straightening himself back up again. His senses let him know that Kilgrave was waiting expectantly for him to do what the other man thought Matt was going to do, and that behind him Jessica herself was watching with baited breath. Then, further increasing the shock of Kilgrave and Jessica, he turned to the right a little, drew back his arm and threw the knife as hard as he could out over the water, the splash that followed a few seconds later telling them where it had landed. "Ooooh, sorry," Matt said to Kilgrave as he turned back to the other man, and at the same time drawing the two halves of his billy club out from his thigh holster. "I think I must've got it wrong," he added, fixing them together so that they formed the weapon.
Kilgrave was having difficulty in controlling himself, so great was his anger now. "What the hell's the matter with you, huh? How are you not reacting to my powers?"
"Guess he must have some special ability to not do so, like me, you motherfucker," Jessica answered. Matt chuckled a little, not wanting to reveal just yet that his blindness was what was protecting him from Kilgrave's abilities.
At that, with a crazy roar of rage, Kilgrave rushed forward towards Matt, but Matt, after first throwing his billy club down on the ground, grabbed ahold of Kilgrave's shoulders and flip jumped over him, lifting Kilgrave up as he landed back down and flipping the other man over as well, sending him crashing down onto the hard ground. Kilgrave lay where he was, winded, allowing Matt to jump and flip kick him in the face with his right foot, adding to the pain further before he then leant down, grabbed Kilgrave by his collar with his left hand, lifted him up a bit and began delivering a barrage of punches to the other man's face with his right fist.
As Jessica looked on in disbelief but also satisfaction, knowing that the animal who had made her life and that of so many others a living hell for so long was getting something he totally deserved, Kilgrave managed to break Matt's onslaught by bringing his right leg and, with it still bent, delivered a couple of kicks to Matt's face, Matt relaxing his grip long enough for Kilgrave to break free and roll away before getting back onto his feet. Matt scooped up his billy club from the ground as Kilgrave attempted a clumsy swing, Matt ducking and swung the club hard with his right hand, the end of the weapon crashing into Kilgrave's jaw and jerking his head to the right, Kilgrave staggering back, breathing heavily.
"You don't look too good, Kilgrave, I'll give ya that," Matt remarked, his enhanced senses telling him all that he needed to know about what condition the mind controlling animal was getting into.
"Damn right," Jessica laughed in support.
Spitting out a gobful of blood, the first cuts and bruises inflicted by Matt beginning to show on his face, a more enraged than ever Kilgrave roared and came at Matt again. But he wasn't Wilson Fisk, and Matt moved easily to the left, bringing his right leg up in a swinging kick, the top of his boot planting itself in Kilgrave's stomach. The other man staggered backwards from the impact, then turned in Matt's direction, only for the Daredevil man, still keeping a tight grip on his billy club, to jump and flip kick him in the face again, Kilgrave bending forward with the blow, before Matt then uppercut him on the chin with his left fist, jerking Kilgrave back up, Matt then landing a left hook into his jaw followed by swinging his billy club again, this time two handed and much harder, a few teeth now flying out of Kilgrave's mouth from the blow.
Jessica just couldn't believe what she was observing so wonderously before her- no one had ever been able to get within metres of Kilgrave, let alone this close, before, not without the sicko's mouth moving and his mind controlling powers overcoming them and making them his unwilling obedient slaves. So for Daredevil to be doing this to him and displaying moves Jessica could only dream of being able to do herself was quite a thing to be witnessing.
Throwing his billy club down again, Matt lunged forward and went full out on Kilgrave again, planting both fists in the man's face, chest and stomach in a merciless barage of hooks and punches. Kilgrave tried a right hook, but being in all the pain that he was now in the move was more clumsy than the last one, and Matt easily ducked it, moving to the side and behind Kilgrave, elbowing him hard between the shoulder blades with his right arm, sending the other man forward before finishing it with a jumping spinning right hooking kick, his boot crashing into Kilgrave's face and sending him down to the ground where he lay on his back, exhausted and in pain from all the blows that Matt had inflicted on him.
Matt stood where he was, breathing heavily, recovering himself from the effort he had just gone full out on Kilgrave, never imagining or believing he would be driven to this level of disgust driven anger, but after what Claire had filled him in on earlier in the day about this animal, Matt knew that someone like this could no longer be tolerated in his city, and the matter had to be seen to.
At last, despite the pain which was still gripping him from Matt's onslaught, a bruised and bloodied faced Kilgrave managed to pull himself up and onto his knees, and Matt, sensing him do so, retrieved his billy club and, gripping it tightly by the middle in his right hand, stepped forward and reached out with his left arm, hand taking ahold of Kilgrave's short brown hair, fingers gripping it to hurtful levels as he pulled the purple suited man's face back so that he was looking straight up at Matt. The Daredevil man raised his right arm up, making sure his billy club was visible also.
Kilgrave coughed, sending a small amount of blood flying out of his mouth, and then the coughing lapsed into laughter. "Go ahead, Red Devil," he said, mouth forming a grin, "Finish it. Finish the job."
"No," Matt shouted, "God knows I would love to do so so badly, for all the people you have harmed, including Jessica. But I'm not gonna give you that privilege, Kilgrave. You will go back to captivity, and you will live the rest of your sick and miserable life in an empty box, knowing you will never have Jessica, or Trish..." Matt pointed to Jessica, then an equally as hugely stunned as her Trish, with his billy club filled hand, then went on, "...or anyone else who's unfortunate to fall under your mind controlling influence. That this city rejected you, it beat you. I BEAT YOU."
Matt roared these last words right in Kilgrave's face, the very sound and level of his voice enough to bring an expression of terror to the purple suited man's face, Jessica stunned and a little alarmed at seeing and hearing such anger being displayed. Matt stopped, panting, then shook his head. "No. On second thoughts..." Still gripping Kilgrave by the hair, Matt dragged him over to Jessica, throwing him down at the PI's feet
"He's all yours, Jessica," he said, separating his billy club into two halves again and re-holstering them again. Jessica nodded in thanks, then reached down and grabbed Kilgrave by the face under the chin with her right hand and hauled him up off the ground with no problem and held him up in the air, her thumb digging into his right cheek and fingers into his left, Matt and Trish both looking on.
"Nighty night," Jessica snarled at Kilgrave, bringing her left arm up and resting her hand on the back of his neck. Then, in a single swift move, she twisted his head, the unmistakable sound of Kilgrave's neck snapping sounding out as Jessica allowed the body to drop back down to the ground. She stayed as she was for several seconds, she and Matt looking down at Kilgrave's corpse, then looked up at Matt.
"There was no other way," she said, referring to what she'd just done.
Matt nodded. "He deserved it, Jessica," he said in agreement, "For a whole lot of reasons." Jessica nodded in further support of his words, the two of them turning to Trish as the younger woman gasped and blinked heavily, running a hand over the lower part of her face, Matt's heightened senses telling him that Trish was now back to her full senses, and so were the crowd of people who Kilgrave had brought to the docks, who were looking around in confusion, wondering how and why they were there.
"If you don't mind me asking, who exactly would your 'anonymous tipster' be?" Jessica asked Matt.
Matt smirked. "The very same person I believe patched you up a little bit this morning, and who is currently looking after your friend Luke Cage back at your place," he answered.
Realization came over Jessica's face. "Then you would be the 'special friend' she mentioned of to me, correct?" she asked further.
Matt chuckled and nodded. "Yes. I am," he said, "I have unique abilities like you and Mr Cage, mine being that I don't have eyesight thanks to an accident I had as a boy with a crashed vehicle and a load of radioactive stuff which went into my eyes, but my other senses were increased ten fold or more so I'm able to detect and tell what's going on around me using them."
Jessica shook her head in wonder at the facts she was learning, but then Matt's senses alerted him to the fact that the crowd on the docks with them and Trish were now taking notice of Jessica, Kilgrave's body and Matt himself, and he knew that it was time to split, before he faced questions he would rather avoid giving answers to.
Seeing it for herself, Jessica seemed to gather on the facts too and nodded. "Go. Before the suits haul your armoured butt off to jail too, which no doubt they're gonna do when this lot..." she indicated the crowd with her left arm, "...tell of what's happened here."
Matt nodded and turned to go, then looked back again to Jessica, his mouth forming a smile. "I'll see ya around, Jessica," he said, before running over to one of the warehouses, easily scaling the wall and flipping onto the roof, then disappearing out of sight and heading off into the night.
Jessica remained where she was, watching after Matt, unable to stop smiling herself at his words. "So will I, devil boy," she said, "So will I."
And there we are. Hope you all enjoyed our Daredevil figure Matt giving the mind controlling psychopathic murdering animal, who I just cannot call a proper human being cos of just how sick he is, Kilgrave the absolute beatdown of his life, before allowing Jessica to then finish it all off of course with her act of snapping the motherfucker's neck and ending his reign of terror and killing for good. Cos this is what I've been unable to get the picture of outta my head for quite a while now, if Claire Temple had helped with it all herself with just one phone call to Matt about the Kilgrave situation, and I finally decided 'It's time to get it all out and on here at long last', hence the result you see now.
Matt's amazing DD 3x13 words to Wilson Fisk after their final fight I just couldn't resist wanting to add in here to be used towards Kilgrave, but of course a little modifying had to be made to them a bit for obvious reasons, but I hope it was good enough and everyone doesn't mind.
So, let me know of course what you all thought about it in reviews and/or PMs, and the next time I'll see you all will hopefully be with the next rather long overdue chapter to 'Coburn and the Legends', is about damn time really I got back on that at last considering all the big and wonderful plans myself and my big Irishman buddy Brainstorm Sorcerer have been working on for it the last three months or so, but again sometime I just help it when real life gets in the way more often than not, especially with my soon to be a reality new work hours. And hopefully, we're all one step closer to seeing the back of the bastardly COVID this year at long last, something I wish for to happen more than anything else. Until then, adios amigos
