15.
Izzy looked down at her phone as a buzz erupted in the quiet room. Farlan took his out as well, it seemed they had been sent a group text. Once Izzy had read it, she stared at the message with wide eyes, going over it again and again. Harlow and Levi had... left them... to go and get... tea? What the fuck? She'd never heard of anything more ridiculous. It was just everything about the situation. Harlow didn't seem like the type to run away from a promise. Levi wasn't the type to go into town, he hated the place. Only left the campus when Izzy and Farlan made him. And to get tea? What a weird thing to go for, they could have tea here. Was it some sort of inside joke? Izzy couldn't wrap her head around it. The whole thing was just bizarre. Although Izzy did have the added information that Levi liked Harlow so his willingness to disappear with her made more sense but still. Izzy thought Levi decided he wasn't going to pursue her because of Farlan. Had he changed his mind or was he not thinking straight. They did both seem very tired today. Izzy wasn't sure how many hours Levi got but she knew Harlow was up most of the night doing her painting.
Izzy finally looked up from the message after a few minutes to find Farlan in a similar state of shock to her. Apparently, he found this weird as well. The message didn't even sound like Harlow. Maybe Levi had written it for her. Actually no, that would make it weirder.
"Huh?" Farlan said in disbelief. Izzy made a face that mirrored his tone.
"I can't believe they ditched us!" Izzy exclaimed after the shock had passed and anger filled her veins. Farlan scoffed.
"Yeah! What the fuck? They'll be back at 'some point'? Try not to be 'too bitchy'? Who wrote this message?" Farlan quoted with a frown. Izzy sighed and shook her head.
"I don't know. I wouldn't expect this from either of them."
"I guess we don't know Harlow that well but... this is weird for Levi, don't you think?" Farlan asked seriously. Izzy felt like he should tell the blonde about Levi's feelings but then remembered her promise to Levi and decided against it. Levi held grudges, if Izzy broke her promise, he probably wouldn't forgive her like he said.
"Yeah, weird." Izzy agreed half-heartedly. Farlan didn't seem to notice, too caught up in his own rage.
"I can't believe Levi would do this to me! I even said this morning about how I needed his help to spend more time with Harlow. Shitty friend he's being today." Farlan mumbled scowling at a pen and flicking it off the table. Izzy felt a pang of empathy for the raven. She knew how hard he was trying to keep in his feelings for Harlow in loyalty to Farlan, he may have slipped up today, but he didn't deserve to be talked about like that.
"Don't say that Farlan. We may not know what's going on, but we can think about this logically. One, technically they did help us, we have all the resources here to revise ourselves, we aren't children. Two, I don't know about Levi, but Harlow probably only got an hour sleep last night, it was slightly unfair for us to drag them out here. Three, it's a Saturday, if they've finished all they're work then they deserve to go out and have some fun, even if it's out of character for both of them. And finally, you shouldn't be so hard on Levi. He would do anything for you, you know that." Izzy finished seriously. By ordering her thoughts out loud, she had also helped to calm herself down and understand why they might have done what they did. Farlan hesitated but sighed and nodded in agreement.
"You right, Levi only got an hour last night too, I heard him come back a little before I woke up and forced him up. Still, I think lying and running away from us like that was still out of order. When they get back, I'm not going pretend like it's all fine. Plus, why the fuck are they going all the way into town for tea?" Farlan said in frustration, picking up his pen and getting back to work. Izzy shrugged and did the same.
"Beats me."
