She'd been in situations like this before. Restrained. Surrounded by armed guards, with another interrogating her to no end. Usually with some sort of torture deceive.
Eventually they would tire (or get bored) and leave her, giving her a chance to escape. But there was always a first for everything.
Never had she been healed, restrained to a cot and then interrogated. So, to say she at a loss was an understatement.
General Hawk pulled out a device and used it to project a small image above it. There the image started to move showing her and the occupants of the room a view of a desert.
Suddenly the image paned to the left, show a figure flying towards them. Ah, so it's a recording of that night. The recording continued, showing her scuffle with her assailants before they crashed through the ground and disappeared. The video stopped and Hawk put it away.
"What did you do to be chased out into the desert?"
She paused "…sorry?"
"Don't play dumb. I've been in the game long enough to know when someone has either stolen, killed or antagonised another to get chased a long distance". Well, she could see why he was a general and not anything lower. "So, which is it?"
She sighed. "Would you believe bad luck?"
"No"
damn it
It was worth a shot, even if it did piss him off. She only needed to give a little bit of information, just enough to keep them sated so she could form a plan to get the hell out here. "I…. ran away" she stopped for a few seconds. "I was being transported, there was a set back and I took a chance to escape"
The general sat up at that note.
"You were a prisoner?"
"Yes"
"And these would-be Captors, who were they?" he gestured to her. "I err… they are a part of an organisation called Mechainfantry, they were in the process of moving me to a location I don't know where exactly." She paused "I don't know exactly why I was taken, just that they needed me"
General Hawk frowned pulling out the device and swiped across a few times before looking back at her. "I haven't heard of any organisation called Mechainfantry, nor is it on the system. what proof do you have that this group exists?" Now it was her turn to frown, proof? They wanted proof? "I don't have any proof. You have to take my word on it"
Him and Sandy shared a look, he sighed. "do you remember where they took you from?". She nodded. Hawk pressed a few buttons on the device and then it projected another image. The planet Earth appeared slowly rotating. There were small icons showing cities and landmarks, however nothing shows where she currently was. There was a city near the area but she didn't know that damned name. Hawk pressed another button and the image stopped, highlighting a landmass that she assumed they were on. "Show us". Well, this was going to be awkward. "Um could you zoom out more?" The general raised an eyebrow. She could see Red and Mr. Silent stand up straight. That got their attention. The general pressed another button and she saw a moon appear. "More" Goliath laughed behind her "you serious?". She turned slightly so she could see him in her peripherals. "Yes". His smile dropped at the response. She turned back towards Hawk who was now standing and pressing a few more buttons. It zoomed out again till she saw three more planets appear. Writing popped up underneath each one.
"How's that?"
"More"
She saw Poker face step slightly forward staring at the planets. He looked towards Sandy who had a similar look before looking towards her. Hawk complied and again more planets appeared, now there was eight planets all together lined up in the room. "Now which one?" she turned to the general who looked at her expectantly. "None"
Hawks mouth dropped "you're kidding, I humoured you in this and you're telling me that you come from someplace else?". She sighed, looking back at the planets. She needed some way to prove to them she was telling the truth in this respect, but how? She paused. "You asked me to show you where and I'm telling you. Where I'm from is further than you map."
He sighed massaging his temple. Pressing a few buttons, the planets vanished and he walked back to his seat. "Why where you heading for the Pit?" She frowned. Did they think she knew about this place? "I honestly didn't know this place was here, it was just chance that we fell above your base" Hawk rested his head on his thumb, processing everything she said.
It stayed silent for a while before Poker Face stepped forward. "Permission to ask a question sir?" Hawk and Sandy looked to him. "permission granted". Poker Face stepped forward towards her putting his hands together in front of his face. "Okay in most circumstances, introductions tend to help especially with someone such as yourself."
"I'm Ripcord, pleasure to meet you" he stuck his hand out in front of him waiting patiently, after a pause he whispered "This is when you tell me your name".
"I… don't have one" he frowned pulling his arm back "Come on, everyone's got a name. what did your parents call you?". She bristled at that. "I don't have parents" he frowned more, shifting to the right. She could see Hawk and Sandy watching intently behind him. "I'm sor-". She put her hand up and stopping him mid-sentence. "Stop. I think you misunderstood." He waited for her to continue. "I don't have parents, I had donors" Ripcords mouth slightly opened, processing what she said. "As for my name…I don't have one. I was only given a number"
"Wait. People made you?" Four looked towards Red decided now was the time to enter the conversation, Correction. The interrogation. "Yes, Mechainfantry wanted to splice genes together and see what sticks. After some trial and error, they successfully began creating creatures and well…myself" she gestured to herself, she knew she couldn't hide that fact forever but hopefully it this would be fruitful in her eventual escape.
"What was the number they gave you" Sandy finally spoke from his place across the room. "Four. The number I was given was Four"
General hawk listened to the conversation, all the while processing the information he had been given. He'd been in the game for a long time. Hearing strange and unbelievable stories was a part of his job, especially when it involved the safety of the countries connected to the G. . But to sit and hear a person say they are from a place further than the Solar System wasn't something you hear every day. While just hearing someone say that, it could be easily proven false with enough digging. However, things weren't really simple with this being in front of him. Finally, he had a name to put on the reports, but he couldn't really call it that though. Four. If this group, Mechainfantry existed, it meant trouble on the horizon. Trouble that he wasn't sure they were ready to face yet.
While a part of him hoped that the woman in front of him was full of shit. The evidence that had been collected suggested otherwise.
"But Sir, the results don't make any sense" the scientist gestured to the computer. "The samples we have taken from the bodies have no direct link to anything in our database"
The general looked at the computer while the scientist continued "we looked at their weapons, the data shows they have been made from steel and titanium however..." the he turned towards the weapons on the other table. "There is something else that we cannot trace. It's not even on the periodic table!" The scientist gestured for Hawk to follow, leading him to the other table with the armour from the surviving being laid out on full display. "The plating is heavy duty, with similarities to Dragon Skin but it was designed to deflect serious damage which explains how she survived the fall."
The scientist gestured to parts of the armour before opening a draw and picking up a scalpel. Hawk frowned "what are you doing?" he looked up at him. "there is something else I want to show you" he walked up to the armour and began to cut a part of the sleeve. "When we were removing the armour, we had to cut it off, it was after we did so that we discovered this…" After he stopped, the fabric started to knit itself back together until there was no evidence of the original damage.
Hawk looked at him. "Nanobots?" The scientist shook his head. "This armour is regenerating" he was taken aback by this. "Last I checked no one had this technology" The general walked back to the computer looking at the results again. "What are you suggesting? That she came from space?" He turned back to the other man.
"Yes"
The General was pulled from his thoughts when there was a knock at the door. He and the others turned to see Doc return with a tray holding a glass of water and pills. "I see you wasted no time in integrating my patient Hawk" the woman grunted walking towards the bed. Ripcord shuffled out of the way as she placed the tray on the bed and handed Four both items. "You will take them every 6 hours to help manage the pain" she turned back towards him, shoving her hand in her pocket while doing so. "perhaps it's time to call it, she's only just woken up and still recovering. I know you want information but she is still my patient". Hawk sighed. "Fine, but one more thing…" he stood up from his chair and walked towards her. Four looked up at him leaning back slightly from his approach. Her eyes flicked to something behind him, giving him a small chance. Once he was in arm's length, he quickly pulled out the device and clipped it around her neck.
"Fine, but one more thing…" she didn't like the sound of that. Four watched as General Hawk approached her from his spot across the room. She shifted back slightly, pulling on her wrist. What's he planning. Her eyes were drawn to movement behind him as Mr Silent also decided to move up behind him. What's he doing? She didn't get to follow that thought when she heard an audible Click as something locked around her neck. "Wha-, what did you just do!" she reached with her other hand feeling something smooth and cold. "Insurance. We will know if you try and escape. Until further notice you will remain in this room with one sentry in here at all times." He said turning, heading to the door. "Get use to the people you see here; you will be seeing them often" once he got to the door, he turned to face her again. "Also, the collar is fitted with shock receptors. If you try anything, you'll have up to 20,000 volts surge through you". He then turned and left. Leaving a furious winged woman behind.
