A Vengeful Woman

Diana knew about the Kreeyans. Their queen was killed centuries ago during the war against Shinnok. Where the Saurians chose to flee, they chose to stay and fight. Unbeknownst to Queen Kreeya, her daughter made a deal that led to her demise. Vorpax, the new queen of the Kreeyans, was her first-born child, retaining the powers her mother once had. She tried to invade this Island once before, only to be wiped out by Hippolyta's sister, Antiope, as well as Philippus.

Diana rushed through the castle as she headed towards the diner where her coming home feast would've been held. Antiope and Philippus were right where she needed them, making her trip shorter. The two seemed to be discussing an important matter with one another that Diana wasn't supposed to listen in on, so they remained quiet as she entered. Antiope rushes to the door, pushing her niece out of the diner. She nodded to Philippus before closing the door.

"What are you doing here? You're supposed to be outside."

"Mother instructed me to tell you and Philippus that Vorpax has returned," she said. "She brought over a few dozen other women, possibly also Kreeyans."

"That can't be true. Philippus has slain her personally, and I've driven the rest of them into extinction," she responded.

"I would not be in these halls if it wasn't."

"And you are sure it was Vorpax?" she asked.

"Mother believed so." Antiope placed her hand beneath Diana's jawline. She then moved her hand to the Tiara on her forehead.

"You've grown so much, Diana. I knew you were ready."

"Thank you, Auntie," Diana said as she hugged her.

"Oh, we're using nicknames now?" she asked. Diana chuckled.

"I guess my time living amongst man has changed my linguistics as well."

Outside of the temple, Hippolyta and Nubia stood above the beach, staring at the tribe of Kreeyans that marched further into the beach. Their bodied stuttered as if they were possessed. The leader raised her hand to stop the other women from moving forward.

"It's been centuries, Hippolyta. I'm here to reclaim what is mine," she said. "You know who I am."

"We will never give away one of our sisters to the enemy. It would be best for you to leave this Island, outcast." The woman laughed at her with both hands resting on her waist. She signals one of the Kreeyans to bring her a spear.

"Those eyes of yours have finally failed you I see," she said. "It is Circe!" Hippolyta squinted her eyes to observe the woman further. She noticed the gold braces around the woman's wrists and ankles. However, even Vorpax wore green as a color of choice. Even the hair was still long, but curly and brown. Diana returned to them geared for battle along with Antiope. Her aunt observes the woman, seeing that she indeed looked like Vorpax. However, she also heard her call herself Circe. It's been centuries since she's heard that name as well.

"Queen Hippolyta," she greeted. "Is she really Vorpax or is she Circe as she claims?" Circe is handed the spear and holds it firmly with both hands.

"It doesn't matter who she is. I'll deal with it," Diana stated. She began to pull out her sword before being stopped by Hippolyta.

"You know you're not allowed to engage in combat, Diana," she reiterated. "We'll take care of things here. You are only to observe."

"I have no quarrel with you, young one. It is your sister that I seek," Vorpax clarified. Diana knew exactly what she wanted, as did Hippolyta.

"Why does she want Nubia? Is she from another planet?" Antiope asked.

"It's the medallion that she's after," Hippolyta responded. Diana's hand gripped her blade harder.

"I'm not allowed to engage in combat against you, but I'll grant you a chance to kill me," Nubia said.

"Are you mad?" Diana questioned.

"Do not let your victory against me cloud your judgement sister," she whispered. She looked at both Hippolyta and Antiope. Both seemed concerned with her decision, but they understood what she was planning.

"You all would allow this?" Diana whispered.

"Your sister has defeated the best of them. She is no child no longer. You are not to participate less you put us all in danger," Hippolyta stated. Nubia nodded and jumped down to the beach. Diana realized the amazon had no weapons in her possession. Nothing but her braces.

"You have 60 seconds and counting," she boasted. Diana shook her head before being distracted by the confused Red-Hair Amazon, Orana. It seemed that she knew something that no one else did. Vorpax grinned before raising her spear in an offensive stance.

"That's more than enough time," she retorted.

Vorpax charged towards her with the spear. With one thrust coming towards her, Nubia quickly stepped beside the woman. Circe dropped the spear and pulled out two daggers. She quickly began swinging her blades at Nubia, who dodged her attacks and guarded against them with her braces. Sparks started to fly between the clashes with many of them clearly burning into the skin of the two women. Nubia was able to kick one of the blades out of her hands without her foot touching Circe's hand. She peaks towards her sister and nods. Diana seemed confused by her action. Hippolyta turned away from the fight. Before Diana could look her way, Antiope forces her back in the direction of the fight.

"Do not take your eyes off of her," she said as her eyes reddened. "She demands that you observe everything."

"What are you saying?" Diana asked. Nubia continued guarding against Circe's attacks. As Circe's other blade was knocked from her hand, Nubia stood still attempting to bait more attacks from the woman. Circe proceeded to face her in hand-to-hand combat using the strength of an amazon to knock her back. Nubia shook her head in disappointment. She looked at Antiope and notice Philippus approaching her. Antiope shook her head.

"It seems Hippolyta was right," Antiope stated. As did Nubia although neither of the two were close enough for one another to hear. Nubia grabs the woman's hands and slams her into the ground. She raises her fist ready to punch the woman in the face. The Kreeyan raises her hands in defense as if it was her last resort.

"How disappointing," Nubia groaned. She proceeded to slam her fists into the woman, punching her over and over. The warrior's blood started trickling along the sandy shore, but not as much as it would if they were on a flat surface. Vorpax's body starts to sink into the Earth. Nubia restrains her next punch as she realized that the woman was no longer breathing. She stands up straight and raises her crimson fist in the air. Everyone cheers her on as she was victorious.

Diana smiled and looked at her mother, who was still looking away. She was speaking with Philippus unbeknownst to her. Hippolyta dried her eyes and looked on at Nubia. Diana proceeded to do the same. Antiope struggled to speak, as did Diana. It was as if time slowed down drastically in that moment. Behind Nubia was Circe raising her sword into the air. Although she wore a similar attire to Vorpax, she could easily be distinguished by her dark violet hair. Nubia quickly turned around as she felt the woman's presence, but she wasn't quick enough to defend herself. Circe swiped the sword downwards cutting down the front of Nubia's torso. She took the opportunity to also stab Nubia in the heart. However, Nubia was able to raise her chest so that the woman's blade would pierce her ribcage instead.

"Sister!"

Diana jumps down next to her sister against her mother's wishes. As Circe prepared her final blow against the Amazon, Diana swoops over her sister to guard against the blade with her shield. Antiope follows behind her to face Circe. Hippolyta tries to follow, but Philippus grabs her shoulder before she could jump down. The other Amazons begin their assault against the Kreeyans as well. Many hidden within the forest came out wielding bows trained on all the Kreeyans who were on the island. They were able to drop them all as they released the arrows from their grasp. All except Circe.

"Nubia, stand up! Your fight isn't over yet!" Diana commanded. Nubia smiled as she struggled to stand.

The sands of the beach began to move. Some Amazons even lost their footing as bodies started to rise from the sands in front of them. Many corpses of the dead Kreeyan race were coming back. Remnants of those who fell on Paradise Island years ago at the hands of Philippus and Antiope. Antiope was troubled by the sight and started losing her focus on the fight at hand. Circe tried to use this to exploit Antiope's opening. However, Euboea arrived in time to counter Circe's blade with her own. She swiped at the woman, causing her to back away. A group of Kreeyans came to Circe's aid to face the two.

"Euboea, you have my gratitude," Antiope stated.

"You know this woman?"

"Not like Hippolyta. But based on her stories, she is not one to be taken lightly."

In the thick of the fight, Diana continues guarding her sister from every enemy that comes her way. Other Amazons approached her and joined in the fray. Nubia looked around as her sisters fought against the undead horde of Kreeyans. Mala, Hessia, Dessa, Sophia, and even Orana stood beside Diana to protect her from the onslaught. Though Diana herself was not able to strike the Kreeyans, the others were. Circe summons two thin-layer pillars beside the women. As she slams her hands together, the pillars began to pull towards one another. The amazons used their strength to hold the two pillars back with Mala and Dessa stopping the left pillar while Sophia and Hessia were stopping the right. Orana, on the other hand, never ceases the desire to outperform Wonder Woman, regardless of who donned the title. She stood in the middle with both arms stretched, preparing to hold back both pillars as her sisters' feet began sliding back across the sand. Her selfish intent proved to be most helpful as the pillars were brought to a complete halt. Had Circe been a stronger sorceress, all of them would've surely met their demise.

Diana made her attempt to fake an attack on Circe. One of the nearby Kreeyan punched Diana across the face as if she timed the strike perfectly. Another pulled out a spear and thrusted it towards Diana. She quickly swings her blade across it to remove the sharp portion. The metallic pole bruised the princess's chest. More Kreeyans came to Circe's defense and began kicking Diana as she was on the ground. If they were mere humans, the damage wouldn't phase her as it does with the average amazon—or Kreeyan in this case. Circe took the extra mile by kicking her blade away before sending her towards the same direction.

Diana pulled herself back to her feet but gets knocked on her back as Circe threw a large stone rock towards her head. Her hands glided over her tiara that protected her from getting scarred by the projectile. She slowly rises on her feet, grabbing onto her Golden Shield.

"Foolish child. Leave this place," she commanded. Diana clenches her teeth as she gives the woman a murderous glare. She peaks over the woman's shoulder and notices the Dragon Symbol on the moon. Nubia looks at her sister and then the moon. The symbol fades from her sight, but the glimpse gave her hope. The amazons made her proud that day. She smiles and closes her eyes. Diana looked over and saw her sister lying peacefully on the ground. There was no sign of life left in her body. She's seen enough death to learn how to hold back her tears and remain focused. She wanted to curse the gods for not protecting them as they were supposed to.

"Why did it have to be now?" she mutters. She picks up her sword and rushes towards her adversaries. Circe smiles as she admired the woman's determination. That smile soon disappeared as Diana's blade danced across the bodies of the Kreeyans. They stood no chance against her. As Diana starts getting closer, Circe teleports a few yards back before summoning another large pillar and throwing it towards Diana. Orana rushes in front of the princess and spreads her arms wide as if she were preparing to bear hug the pillar.

"I've got this," she said. Before she could touch the pillar, Diana slices through it and runs between it. Orana was in awe by Diana's strength, as was everyone else around her. They remembered Nubia's godlike strength while she honed the title of Wonder Woman, but never would they have believed Diana's strength would match it as her past adversaries had been of a weaker vessel.

Diana thrusts her blade towards Circe, but a Kreeyan sacrifices themself to protect her. With Diana's blade lodges into the woman, she holds onto Diana's hand along the hilt. Circe uses the opportunity to shroud her right hand with purple energy. She aims her hand towards Diana and prepares to finish her off. She blasts a powerful energy blast that wanes quicker than she expects when Io tosses an axe into the woman's back. The axe phases through her and strikes the back of the Kreeyan Diana stabbed, finally finishing the warrior off. Circe disperses into nothingness and the remaining Kreeyans drop dead around the beach. Diana slowly passes out as her body starts shutting down.
